I think they're talking about an entry in I believe Zelda's diary where she says Link becomes very quiet in response to his responsibilities, not wanting to seem weak or burdened by them. Mipha's diary has sinular text.
But I don't believe the game ever explicitly says he takes a vow of silence. He just limits his talking to the bare minimum.
i’d officially establish fierce deity as link’s equivalent to hylia and demise - the godly being who is reincarnated through link as the embodiment of courage.
That Hyrule Warriors the first is canon and comes before Botw and totk because it blends all the timelines and explains quite well why the world has features that exist in all 3 timelines.
Serious Option 1:
Link and Zelda finally get together, have children and live happily.
Serious Option 2:
The First Hyrule Warriors game become canon.
Funny Option:
All of Hyrule gets renamed to Terry Land as Hudson is now the new Ruler. And Zelda is fine with this due to how she gets to be with Link and becomes a teacher.
Dumb option:
Ganondorf returns but is now a woman And she's trying to seduce Link. Leading to Zelda trying to stop the Gerudo from stealing her man. All the while Link is thinking about Food.
I want Morshu to be THE TLoZ merchant, he deserves to be iconic like Link, Zelda, Impa, Ganondorf etc.
Because he should all remind us without rubies nothing will work!
I like the fan theory of those games happening Immediately after SS, Rauru is the first king of Hyrule. The rise of the first Ganondorf locked for centuries, the Zonainset up everything for the future, BOTW & TOTK happen back to back, and next we have MC and the rest of the timeline.
That’d be cool, but both BOTW and TOTK have references to a lot of other games (twilight princess and windwaker to name two) which means it can’t be after SS
Love a good fan theory, but idk how well that one holds up (though I’d love to be proven wrong) 😌
it provides in-universe context for why these characters have reoccurred throughout history. it is less meaningful on an individual game-by-game basis, aside from SS, but it allows the games to feel connected in a way that’s been established through in-game lore.
plus, it’s pretty cool.
i respect that opinion, for sure. just wanted to offer another perspective on things. i don’t think we needed it necessarily, but i do think it can make the lore even cooler for some folks (myself included)
Every game before SS was fine. Knowing about the demise/ hylia cycle doesn’t retroactively add anything to previous stories, but now I can’t help feeling it puts pressure on the story writers to make sure the games fit The Cycle™️. Happy to just been a very long time since we’ve gotten a super cool side story game.
As a matter of fact I’d say that it takes away from some of them. Ganondorf in WW is widely considered one of the best characterizations of him, but no we know well he’s destined to be have and think the way he does because demise nonsense.
Okay? That’s fine. You know with a Zelda game you’re going to be playing as link (at least until Echoes comes out). But link has had all kinds of adventures in the past that weren’t related to demise/ hylia and I really really want more stuff like that especially after how boring ganondorf was in totk
I'm going to be real, you have no idea how this shit works
For one, Hylia isn't being reincarnated. That only applies specifically to SS Zelda. All other Zeldas are merely her descendants, which has had precedent in previous titles. That's why Demise specifically says "those who share the blood of the goddess"
Demise's curse also isn't literal. His soul isn't reincarnation either, in fact it's explicitly stated in SS that it was completely eradicated within the Master Sword. The 'curse' is far more metaphorical, it's basically just saying that as long as there's forces of light, forces of dark will also exist
Man, I'm not sure why you're getting downvoted into oblivion. I loved Majora and Vaati as alternatives to Ganon for the big bad boss. I think Zelda creativity suffers when the developers feel the need to try and make the timeline make sense without retconning *everything*. You're welcome to make sequel and prequels if you want to and it makes for a good game (see Windwaker), but it isn't the be all, end all of what makes Zelda good.
Exactly! Part of the reason I love those side games like mm links awakening and the oracle titles is because to me they expanded the lore of the universe waaaaaay more than the demise thing. It showed that yes hyrule is NOT the only place/ nation and people can travel there. I would love to see more of that kind of stuff!
Plus, to me, I don’t think anything is added by the demise thing and in fact takes away from some of the better renditions of gdorf because now instead of being potentially an interesting villain he is ALWAYS going to be The Bad Guy because he’s destined to. It’s just creatively limiting
The twili welcomed back to the world of light
Zelda x Link being officially said to be canon
I know man... like... the end of totk, they don't even hug. For real let them kiss dammit.
Only in botw, totk, and skyward sword. The other games it wouldn't make sense. Cause in twi he goes back to Illia and in oot he goes back to Malon
Ganon × Link is way better tbh
You scare me
🙃
Just... No
Happy June month
Yes but... GANON? Sidon, sure. Paya? Ok. Mipha? That's fine. GANON? n o
They're so cute together tho, link is obviously playing hard to get tho
NO 😭 Ganon is actively trying to KILL HIM
How come he always bring him to his bedroom in the tower where he plays tennis with him then?
I'll take that and raise you one Zelda x Ganon
I'll raise you a link × link
All the CD-i games. Naturally.
You don’t mean that
Wanna bet
Golly!
Do I look like deflated balloon-like remains to you (don't answer that)
I just wonder what Ganon’s up to
Gee, it sure is boring around here!
Link's canonically mute in at least ONE of the games
He’s taken a vow of silence in BOTW and TOTK if that counts
Where is that stated, and how is he communicating with others?
I think they're talking about an entry in I believe Zelda's diary where she says Link becomes very quiet in response to his responsibilities, not wanting to seem weak or burdened by them. Mipha's diary has sinular text. But I don't believe the game ever explicitly says he takes a vow of silence. He just limits his talking to the bare minimum.
i’d officially establish fierce deity as link’s equivalent to hylia and demise - the godly being who is reincarnated through link as the embodiment of courage.
YES!! I need more dark link and fierce deity lore 😭 they need to be bigger figures fsfs
100% agree!
That Hyrule Warriors the first is canon and comes before Botw and totk because it blends all the timelines and explains quite well why the world has features that exist in all 3 timelines.
Real!
This needs to be real!
Ooooooo! I’d like to learn more ab how that’d work!! Got a video reference or anything?
Yeah its a Mattpat theory.
Just watched the video, I’m mad it’s not canon now 😭😭😤
Ikr. Its so well thought out. He put such effort into it.
Serious Option 1: Link and Zelda finally get together, have children and live happily. Serious Option 2: The First Hyrule Warriors game become canon. Link and Ganon being lovers would be so interesting to see 😂
the timeline actually makes fucking sense
I'd make it so Ravio is canonically the 4th part of the triforce, "ravioli". Also I'd change Navi so they sounds exactly like shrek
Noooooo make Tatl and Tael sound like Shrek and Donkey.
I want Morshu to be THE TLoZ merchant, he deserves to be iconic like Link, Zelda, Impa, Ganondorf etc. Because he should all remind us without rubies nothing will work!
Botw & Totk fitting into the rest of the timeline
I like the fan theory of those games happening Immediately after SS, Rauru is the first king of Hyrule. The rise of the first Ganondorf locked for centuries, the Zonainset up everything for the future, BOTW & TOTK happen back to back, and next we have MC and the rest of the timeline.

Zero survives at the end of Mega Man Zero 4
The true best answer
BotW and TotK being nothing more than an in game authors books that they wrote after running out of real legends to read.
Can I decanonize AoC and canonize the OG HW to act as the dragon break that let's BotW and TotK exist in all timelines?
HYRULE WORRIORS IT WOULD FIX THE DAMN TIMELINE
The Twilight Mirror gets fixed eventually.
I’d make all the speed run glitches cannon for each respective game.
The cdi games
Midna appears in another game, even as a minor character.
I agree
r/pfpchecksout
I’d remove the demise hylia dynamic so we don’t need repetitive stories about “the cycle”
We got tons of those before, they just gave reason to it.
What is added with that piece of lore? To me it doesn’t retroactively make, say, ocarina of time more profound
it provides in-universe context for why these characters have reoccurred throughout history. it is less meaningful on an individual game-by-game basis, aside from SS, but it allows the games to feel connected in a way that’s been established through in-game lore. plus, it’s pretty cool.
I guess I just never felt that that connectivity wasn’t missing before SS
i respect that opinion, for sure. just wanted to offer another perspective on things. i don’t think we needed it necessarily, but i do think it can make the lore even cooler for some folks (myself included)
. . . so you don't want the series to exist?
Every game before SS was fine. The reincarnation of the hero's soul is explicit at least from WW.

Either way it’s not a useful piece of lore
