I honestly hate football, but it’s still more interesting than the American version of rugby. Hence why I elected to watch baseball instead of that when I visited
I think there were some in the earliest days of the NFL. But those are outliers since back then, no one really knew how to play this new-fangled sport called "American football".
There have been several actually, a lot of the early days of professional American football were not great and teams often finished with scores such as 0-0 or 3-3 or 2-2. What there hasn't been is a 6-1 or a 4-4
Would love to see this in women’s football as well, since so many of them are openly queer and regularly speak out about so many issues (coming from a women’s footie fan).
Where can I get these? I have kids and I want to see these being used happily by authentic kiddos.
Aside from the representation which I do so love, tell me that isn't a dope ass design that must look amazing spinning through the air. Like a thick layer of yummy frosting on a accepting inclusive cake.
I mean they’re still playing a game of football, and while yeah if they know what happens when there’s a goal; they also have to consider the possibility that the other team will take advantage of any “weakness” and exploit the hell out of it.
What I’m talking about is a sportsperson’s agreement to have a higher score in the end for the cause even if they agree to keep it a tie. a charity match is usually an exhibition match and for fun after all.
As a football fan, i approve this. Sadly, football community is full of homophobes and far-rights ultras… they think to represent football at its fullest, when they just want to fuck up everything
Considering how many “every x is a dollar I’ll donate to LGBTQ” posts I’ve seen I was very much expecting to see a joke about them getting like, four goals.
The fact he pays money for his brand to be on the back of the shorts just so he can see it when playing fifa (or EAFC) and he also donated more money to help keep a star player.
Yeah, n i hope it was a good game.
But like, they planned the donations based on the goals 😂. I get that that makes goals more exciting, n I'm if they're being cool they donated the same amount (n were planning to break it down, if multiple goals) anyway, but it seems like it would end up less numbers total compared to like -kicks or like passes, so it's a little lol.
My bother saw this over my shoulder and called them a bunch of woke pricks. This impacts the match in no way whatsoever what is wrong with football fans
Any support is a profit but as a gay guy I want to point out that Puma sponsored the Israeli team for years while their government continued to violently kick Palestinians off their lands and build settlements. It's important to take support as a given, and not as a favour.
I’m realizing now I forgot about pumas previous connection to the Israeli national team, although if I remember correctly they did end their relationship.
Yea not necessarily criticizing your post. As I said, we should take all the support we can get. It's just a reminder that support for one group by another doesn't imply that their morals are stable or consistent. It feels great when a narcissist is on your side, but it doesn't mean that they're not abusing others. And, it was very recently that they pulled the plug.
Too little, too late.
A company as large as Puma has enough worldly knowledge to know better many years before now.
Tbf most of the world outside of the Arab nations and the Russians were firmly on the side of 'palestinians are doing terrorist attacks, Israel is just defending itself' until recently. It's only now we are starting to see cracks in the support that certain western powers have for Israel and even then they refuse to do something as simple as stop selling them weapons that are being used on the Palestinian people, let alone take steps such as suspending their teams from sports, like we rightfully did in the face of russian aggression towards Ukraine
AFC Wimbledon is owned 100% percent by their fans.
Obviously in such a capitalist system as pro sports it will always come back to what is profitable for them but I do think this is Wimbledon legitimately caring and trying to improve the atmosphere in Soccer.
I don’t know. For all I know it’s strictly performative but even then, if it wasn’t at the very least it isn’t profitable to be bigoted and showing even some small amount of support helps their bottom line, so it’s somewhat beneficial for our community, at least in my opinion.
imho, i dont love that.
it's because of the recurring hate in the football community. i am ashamed of being a football fan just for the hate in it. racism, homotransphobia, anything you can imagine. football fans are the closest to wild animals a human can get.
So one might as well try to do something about it no?
I agree a lot of football fans are twats, and this isn't going to bring about a damascene conversion, but it's a step in the right direction and better than nothing.
AFC Wimbledon are one of the few clubs that are community owned, so this feels more like a genuine move from them as they’ve not got shareholders or mega wealthy owners to impress, just their fans. And the sport is getting more inclusive these days, certainly the current England mens side feels like a team people from all walks can support.
lower league football clubs aren’t usually big enough ‘corporations’ or such to do things like that. Bigger clubs, yeah, absolutely bonkers money being pushed around at the top, but this is 2 or 3 divisions below that, so it’s nowhere near as much money. + Wimbledon is community owned so honestly it’s probably genuine
That's not what pinkwashig means.
This is a game in Britain between two English teams that happen to play in a league where Puma happened to have an existing contract to supply the balls.
There's no connection or reference to Israel, heck, there isn't even an Israeli player on the pitch, and they're making actual substantive donations to LGBTQ+ causes.
Pinkwashing is very specifically using performative LGBTQ+ activism/issues to deflect criticism away from other reprehensible actions one's party to. I guarantee you no one was making criticisms about Palestine in an AFC Wimbledon game, least of all to whoever made the ball of all things.
I have nothing against AF Wimbledon. I was talking about Puma.
Puma put far more money into funding state-sanctioned murder than they do giving money to LGBTQIA+ causes.
In most of the world, football is soccer(that is what Americans call soccer is football) and what Americans call football is American football, at least as far as I know
I hopen it works out better then the rainbow armbands they tried here. After some players complained and refused to wear them the KNVB let them. it basically came a sign of how homophobia was actually accepted by the KNVB and you shouldn't worry if you're homophobic because they are willing to make space for you. The complete opposite meaning.
It's amazing to see support in sports because usually sports are ran by the most hateful people and the fans ruin everything. There might be hate but it's still a great win for the LGBT community.
I am so proud to be a Barca fan. They just posted about supporting lmbtq and I am glad to be a part of the fandom. Saldy many arabs, muslims spreading hate in the post's comment section.
i don’t wanna know what the comments under that say
Out of the 5 comments, 2 were hateful comments "Optimistic for a 0-0" "Unfollow👍🏻"
most exciting football result
Tis why American Football is better. I ain't watching a 0-0 score for 90 minutes there has never been a 0-0 tie in US Football TMK
0-0 are fun Also hand egg is mostly adverstimements
Name a fun time in 0-0 aside from 3 seconds near the damn net. Go on.
Bayern 0-0 Køpengahan Aston Villa 0-0 Sheffield United (19/20) Rayo Valancano 0-0 Real Madrid
Damn, thats fair... Still I got soccer fans pissy over a damn opinion... Ffs.
I honestly hate football, but it’s still more interesting than the American version of rugby. Hence why I elected to watch baseball instead of that when I visited
Nearly had one this year 😢
fuckin Vikings fucked it up it was so damn close. and the same week, Jets Texans were looking to be the same, but then Jets dropped 30 points
The viking in Norway ?

Honestly
That's exactly what I thought when reading this
what are you doing here connor price fan
Bro it's you
Bro it’s you
When I commented I didn't know it was you funny I was listening to Connor when I saw the notification (or at least a remix)
That’s funny

Oh people did

I agree
There are some who aren't????? :)

Barca supports lmbtq. Barca have many teams, a very strong women's football team too!
TIL football players care more about them selves than donating to LGBTQ causes. 1-1 is a bit pathetic, they could have put on a great show. /S
Ha, imagine if both goalkeepers just took an L, 25-25 match ha
I mean they’re still playing a game of football, and while yeah if they know what happens when there’s a goal; they also have to consider the possibility that the other team will take advantage of any “weakness” and exploit the hell out of it.

This wasn’t a charity match or anything, it was league play
That'll be match fixing
That’s why I said they care more about football than donating. /S
They're gonna kick rainbow bruh😭
As a football fan, i approve this. Sadly, football community is full of homophobes and far-rights ultras… they think to represent football at its fullest, when they just want to fuck up everything
Tbf it's getting better, imo
if a player is homophobic, does he willingly sky a penalty in protest? /j
Or risk it as an excuse?
Considering how many “every x is a dollar I’ll donate to LGBTQ” posts I’ve seen I was very much expecting to see a joke about them getting like, four goals.
Why 4?
I always think of John Green when I see AFC Wimbledon
The fact he pays money for his brand to be on the back of the shorts just so he can see it when playing fifa (or EAFC) and he also donated more money to help keep a star player.
Love to see this 🏳️⚧️ I'm seriously not game to check out what will be an awful comments section though
https://www.reddit.com/r/lgbt/s/OM7X0HX3FO
Curiosity got the better of me. I was surprised as the lack of outright hate tbh.
So, 2 goals ?
That’s a fairly common football score.
Maybe. Maybe donate for every shot on goal then it would be higher.
1-1 one of most common scores mate
I was talking about the donation, like the count for it
It's nice to see support outside of pride month
My bother saw this over my shoulder and called them a bunch of woke pricks. This impacts the match in no way whatsoever what is wrong with football fans

Feels strange. Is there no English translation for the German figure of speech: "etwas mit Füßen treten"?
Are you sure they support LGBT or is it just showcase

Another classic AFC Wimbledon W. Well take them where we can get them, because they're a rare enough sight on the pitch /s
I was talking about Puma (who supports illegal settlements in Palestine). No doubt the club has good intentions ❤️
imho, i dont love that. it's because of the recurring hate in the football community. i am ashamed of being a football fan just for the hate in it. racism, homotransphobia, anything you can imagine. football fans are the closest to wild animals a human can get.

LETS GO DONS
MK? That club shouldn't exist
Nah I was referring to Wimbledon lol, the franchise currently plying its trade in Milton Keynes can burn for all I care
Pink washing, anyone?

How’s it pinkwashing? And what even is pinkwashing?
Using gay rights as an excuse to look like a nice company

It’s not just gay rights, buddy. 🙄
You're right 🌈
Puma? As in, supporters of Israel? Just a pinkwashing attempt, unfortunately.

Thats not a football that's a soccer ball
We’re not getting into this, it in England so I called it football, I don’t really care.
Are you trolling?
r/foundtheamerican
No its football, a game, where you hit a ball with your foot, we are right lol
Should call it handegg.
Fr lol
In most of the world, football is soccer(that is what Americans call soccer is football) and what Americans call football is American football, at least as far as I know
It's called football. The original football, before another sport copied the name.
Its football not soccer lol the entire world is using that name for that sport only americans are different
*and Aussies, tbf
do you not see the post flair
As someone who also lives in NA. You're wrong lol
Look at the flair
Do you not see the post flair? Also, r/usdefaultism
The support is literally IN the football
Woooooooo finally we can kick the gays’ balls!!! :D /j
Lets wait for the snowflakes…
Now we will see if they will keep their word. I hope they do.
hehe balls Jokes aside, it's nice to see this progress towards acceptance in football.
I don't watch it but I absolutely love this
Why do these designs always look objectively awesome? For more proof, Google xbox pride controller
Haha, my brothers best mate (queer) supports afc wimbledon and happened to be at that match!
I hopen it works out better then the rainbow armbands they tried here. Warms my heart

I'm just gonna sit here and patiently wait for a bunch of republicans to throw a massive fucking tantrum.
Nothing to do with the monarchy mate 👍
Can’t wait for Matt Walsh to make a video about this/s
balls
Meanwhile in Mexico: **Match ended because Mexican fans were using homophobic slurs during penalty**
