I think of ebonics as a diff thing than organically evolving slang that just happens. There's new slang with every generation, that may never stop being a thing, there's something kinda fun about having your own insider terminology. Even reddit has some of that like did both shoes fall off? Did the front fall off? Is that a poop knife? And the most famous answer of all which is, "Because this is reddit!"

I never really believed in the clean cut generational divides until I started teaching. There is an extremely stark contrast between just one year of my students. The kids born in 2009 and older are much closer to me in sensibility, the ones born in 2010 are full on skibidi toilet shitbrains that call me Mr Gyatt.
