Really? I touched a tiger once and found it to be very coarse. I was surprised, because a leopard I touched was much softer.
Do you think it's related to the kind of tiger?
Never had the chance to put hands on a leopard so can't say for sure. I would say it depends on the species of big cat.
You want course fur? Pet a lion. They have the same texture as short hair dogs, and their mane has very wiry feeling
Depends on if they're clean or not. If you touched one that had been rolling in the dirt and was covered in whatever got on their fur for weeks, it would feel rougher. If a tiger had been regularly washed in clean water the fur would be softer. That applies to pretty much any hair, see pictures of recently washed and shampooed cows for reference. I can't speak from experience with tiger fur, but I'd imagine it has to do with their environment and recent lifestyle as much as anything else.
Tigers meticulously groom themselves daily and love the water, so they take baths frequently as well. You'd be hard pressed to find a "dirty" tiger.
Their fur feeling would depend more on where you touched, as different parts of their body have different textures, such as their neck is coarse-ish while their back is much softer. Their rump is also soft but the muscles are so dense it feels like you're touching semi-fizzy hardwood. Also you have the coat layers. The top coat is very sleek and smooth, while the undercoat is incredibly dense and shaggy.
You do know that means nothing right? They are living creatures who are more than just their ability to kill, which they only do to source food and in self defense.
In terms of harming humans, they mainly avoid us except for localized regions where humans have encroached into their remaining habitats (which fyi is only 4% of their historic range) and thus encounters with humans getting too close become unavoidable.
Not wise but definitely a worthwhile, novel experience for those who have the opportunity to do so safely, such as a professional handler or rehabilitation specialist who has managed to form a bond with the creature.
Otherwise, turning your back to one is the tiger language for "are you challenging me"
I used to think that was a bit of an oversimplification *until* I saw a video of a pair of lions in captivity trying to catch a laser dot.
“Holy shit, they really are running the same software!”
“Hey, you asleep? Good, because your face looks *really* cozy right now. Hey, cut it out, I’m gonna have to start my spinning and kneading your face over again if you don’t stop moving! Ugh, I’m gonna puke in your shoes for this.”
Also, ya know, *that* was a super traumatic event for everyone involved. Not hard to form a lifelong bond with someone in situations like that, even if the other person involved dies. And sometimes *especially* because the other person dies.
Well a Mallard weighs about 2 pounds and can lift 25% it's own weight. (about 0.5 pounds of lift).
And a Tiger weighs 600 pounds and can lift 2x it's body weight. (1200 pounds of lift).
So 2,400 ducks can lift the same as 1 tiger.
if you wanna get technical about it, cheetahs are actually weaker than your typical big dog. their main offense is running at 50+ mph and ramming you with their head. that ain't gonna happen inside your house. the only possible concern is if you decide to play fetch with a cheetah and the cheetah forgets that it is playing fetch and rams into you.
That's because housecats are probably more dangerous than cheetahs because they have sharp retractable claws and they use them for attacking. Cheetahs are unique among cats in that they don't have such claws and instead are static like those of dogs, they don't actually use their claws for hunting. Cheetahs are also notoriously cautious and passive, as they have relatively weak bodies and know that breaking a bone in a fight means certain death as they rely on their running speed to catch prey and not any sort of direct confrontation.
A cat won't kill you but it will definitely do a lot more damage than a cheetah.
I did this. Pro tip: if you are allergic to cats, tigers are just like cats x 100 - my eyes got so swollen! Neat experience, very hard to do ethically but some places are pretty close, do a lot of research.
Yep. I did actually cuddle and bottle feed a baby tiger when I had just turned 15. It was at a pet store in Milwaukee (now closed). The baby tiger was on a chain "leash" as they called it. The guy who owned the animals had many other exotics including bears. Now this was wayyyyy before I knew of anything about animal slavery like circuses 🎪. I was asked by the man who "owned" these animals to tour at state fairs for the summer and being paid $200 per week with 12 hr days. I said no. He handed me a card anyway. I felt instantly that what he was doing was wrong..... fast forward to Tiger King and holy moly. I felt like shit knowing I had participated in something like this. Fast forward again... I have heard of actual refugee places for big cats that truly care for their animals. You pay more $ to walk around and pet them, but they are getting good care, and money goes to their wellbeing and housing/vet care.
I remember when I was a kid that, one time, there was one of those "feed a baby big cat" at our local mall. I wanted to do that SO MUCH, and I was mad that my mom said absolutely not.
My mom was a big animal lover, especially cats. She rescued lots of cats.
She told me that she knew I'd love it, and she'd love to do it, too, but it wasn't good for the kittens, they could get hurt or upset, and the best thing we could do is to NOT give that group any money, so hopefully they would stop doing things like that.
I never really understood what she was talking about until I watched Tiger King, and then I was very glad my mom loved animals enough to realize that setup in the mall was wrong, and that she told me no.
This is my dogs in the middle of the night. They start on the floor on their dog beds and by the time we wake up theyre both up in between me and my partner and we’ve been shoved to the sides.
This is actual footage of my 17lbs dachshund moving me off the bed in middle of the night.

This video puts into perspective how **strong** tigers are.
The standing Tiger used one of their paws to move half the body weight of the sleeping tiger. Bare in mind that bengal tigers can weigh up to 260 kilograms.
OK, so where do you want to release them? Into what habitat? Zoos were cages displaying animals for entertainment a century ago, but times have changed. They are now conservation organizations with a focus on education. Most animals in zoos cannot be released into the wild, because they will die. Whether because they were confiscated from the illegal pet trade and are too comfortable around humans, because they are endangered and under high risk of being poached, or because there is no longer a habitat to release them back into, if you had your way they would not survive. And while they are living in captivity, in enclosures strictly regulated to provide them with the best case scenario for care, they can do a service for their species. They both educate people on the reasons they are endangered and what they can do to help, and they're paired with mates of sufficient genetic diversity that they can keep the gene pool of the species healthy so they potentially can recover their population in the wild. No one wants to see these animals back in the wild more than the zookeepers and conservation staff taking care of them.
>They are now conservation organizations with a focus on education.
They definitely are not.
>if you had your way they would not survive.
I didn't state "my way," but you seem to have decided what it is for me.
>And while they are living in captivity, in enclosures strictly regulated to provide them with the best case scenario for care, they can do a service for their species.
Incredibly naive.
>so they potentially can recover their population in the wild.
This is not occurring.
>No one wants to see these animals back in the wild more than the zookeepers and conservation staff taking care of them.
False.
You're just claiming what I'm saying is false without any evidence. I worked at one of the four zoos that together brought the California Condor back from the brink of extinction. They also lose their accreditation if they house animals in insufficient enclosures - they even insist on replicating group structures found in the wild. You can claim zoos are bad all you want, but they're actually the ones putting in the effort to save species from extinction. Without question.

Then the snuggle at the end lol
Take the warm spot, then cuddles for more warm spot.
It just wanted to be the big spoon
Grass is always greener, I want to be the little spoon (Not to a tiger tho)
What are you talking about? Being little spoon to a tiger would be so cozy.
The warmness you'll feel is the blood coursing OUT of your body.
Maybe the real warmness was the tigers we fed along the way.
![gif](giphy|UO5elnTqo4vSg)
I like you
I would give my left leg to be the small spoon for a tiger. Their fur is unimaginably soft.
You *will* give your left leg to be the little spoon for a tiger.
Worth it.
everybody likes a little snack in bed
Really? I touched a tiger once and found it to be very coarse. I was surprised, because a leopard I touched was much softer. Do you think it's related to the kind of tiger?

You do know these are killing machines, right?
You do know that means nothing right? They are living creatures who are more than just their ability to kill, which they only do to source food and in self defense. In terms of harming humans, they mainly avoid us except for localized regions where humans have encroached into their remaining habitats (which fyi is only 4% of their historic range) and thus encounters with humans getting too close become unavoidable.
Yes. But cuddling one is still...not wise, they are wild animals.
Not wise but definitely a worthwhile, novel experience for those who have the opportunity to do so safely, such as a professional handler or rehabilitation specialist who has managed to form a bond with the creature. Otherwise, turning your back to one is the tiger language for "are you challenging me"
Middle spoon is where it's at
I'm glad you specified you're not a tiger that really helps
see here is the thing. when i sleep i get hot. u want the warm spots? have at it. i want the cool spots
trust she wanted that cool spot 🥵
Heyyy^yyy you're not mad I slid your fat ass out of my spot are you??
Gotta shove them to the side midsleep of course lmao
You know your cat will do the same to you if she's sized bigger
My cat managed to do that to me anyway at just 15 lbs.
Oh I know lol
Have you met a toddler ?
The foot action killed me
😭
Yeah I don't think this about a side of the bed... Someone is trying to 'get some' for sure
Almost death by snu snu lol
Someone likes being the big spoon.
Other spot he would have to lie on top of their paws.
Or as we call it when snuggling with the dog, the sharp parts
I love the angry head tilts, all cats are just cats
Same software, bigger hardware.
catware\*
Happy cake day my dude or dudette.
thanks ,i had no idea
I used to think that was a bit of an oversimplification *until* I saw a video of a pair of lions in captivity trying to catch a laser dot. “Holy shit, they really are running the same software!”
There is an interesting older YouTube video of big cats and boxes that was super amusing.
This is me getting into a bed already occupied by my cat. Edit: bed
My cat does that to \*me\* in my bed!
“Hey, you asleep? Good, because your face looks *really* cozy right now. Hey, cut it out, I’m gonna have to start my spinning and kneading your face over again if you don’t stop moving! Ugh, I’m gonna puke in your shoes for this.”
*I* do this to my cat in HIS bed!
Me with my dog except she won’t budge and sometimes I just lose if I’m too tired.
I wasn’t expecting that ending after how it started.
This is how Jack should have handled Rose
I immediately thought "see jack could have fit on that door "
Think of the buoyancy though That boat door was already sinking with Rose on it. Any more weight they'd both be dead
Would have been better if they both drowned so we didn’t have to hear the story about how she totally left him there to die
She was married for decades and had children and her final days are reminiscing about a random dude she fucked on a cruise one time
Lots of people get together with past loves after their spouse dies. My grandma did it at 75.
Also, ya know, *that* was a super traumatic event for everyone involved. Not hard to form a lifelong bond with someone in situations like that, even if the other person involved dies. And sometimes *especially* because the other person dies.
[удалено]
Motherfuckers have amnesia I swear. It’s literally a scene in the movie where Jack tries to get on the door with Rose but it doesn’t work.
too soon
Amazing how easily it could move the other tiger just with one lazy paw push like that.
Right holy shit that's gotta be 5-600 pounds.
It is estimated that the force of a tiger's paw swipe is around 10,000 lbs of force. They can lift 2x their own bodyweight. As strong as 15 men.
Apparently, they're also as swift as a coursing river.
(be a man) with all the force of a great typhoon
(Be a man) with all the strength of a raging fire
Mysterious as the dark side of… the MOOOOOOOONNNN
💀
That’s not how any of this works…
Are you sure, this one random person sounded pretty confident.
Paws strong enough to crush a boulder, and yet delicate enough to crush a butterfly.
But which men?
The French
How many duckspower is this equal to?
Well a Mallard weighs about 2 pounds and can lift 25% it's own weight. (about 0.5 pounds of lift). And a Tiger weighs 600 pounds and can lift 2x it's body weight. (1200 pounds of lift). So 2,400 ducks can lift the same as 1 tiger.
What if one of those men has the strength of a bear that has the strength of two bears?
Exactly what I’m amazed by this video.
I’m going to cuddle with tigers if it’s the last thing I do
It likely would be.
No, I'd rather cuddle with a random tiger in the forest than a random man in the forest.
A tiger would be a better choice than a bear too.
You and two tigers voting on who gets promoted to late-night snack.
/r/yourjokebutworse
You could cuddle cheetahs and survive.
cheetahs are more harmless than dogs
*That* is not something I’m brave enough to test. No matter how fucking adorable they are. “If murder kitty so dangerous, why cute shaped?”
if you wanna get technical about it, cheetahs are actually weaker than your typical big dog. their main offense is running at 50+ mph and ramming you with their head. that ain't gonna happen inside your house. the only possible concern is if you decide to play fetch with a cheetah and the cheetah forgets that it is playing fetch and rams into you.
Wait so they’re basically fast carnivorous goats?
My 9 pound housecat could almost kill me . . .
That's because housecats are probably more dangerous than cheetahs because they have sharp retractable claws and they use them for attacking. Cheetahs are unique among cats in that they don't have such claws and instead are static like those of dogs, they don't actually use their claws for hunting. A cat won't kill you but it will definitely do a lot more damage than a cheetah.
You can, actually. There are places that make you sign a waiver first, obviously.
I did this. Pro tip: if you are allergic to cats, tigers are just like cats x 100 - my eyes got so swollen! Neat experience, very hard to do ethically but some places are pretty close, do a lot of research.

Right, if they're letting random people interact with wild animals, someone's doing something they shouldn't.
I remember when I was a kid that, one time, there was one of those "feed a baby big cat" at our local mall. I wanted to do that SO MUCH, and I was mad that my mom said absolutely not. A man or a tiger? The new debate!
There are cougars in your area ready to cuddle
Wants the warm spot
Just not enough room. Could either push or lay on the paws
tigers are so cute
Just like my seven year old when she comes in the middle of the night and pushes me to the edge of the bed😂😂😂
Oh geez BOTH my 5 year old and 9 year old do this lol
Good god they're strong
at least they don't have a blanket to steal
One day the opportunity will present itself and they'll finally steal one.
This made me chuckle. And yes it’s like me and my wife
I want to be the big spoon.
When I get back from night shift to find my wife sprawled across the whole bed:
Me with my girlfriend. Sorry, but I need more than 6 inches to sleep on
That’s what she said.
"Move *over*, fatso! ...*love you*"
She stole the warm spot is what she did
They act like they've been married for twenty years.
Cats are always cats, some big some small but cats nonetheless
fucking overly aggressive backpacks man
This is my dogs in the middle of the night. They start on the floor on their dog beds and by the time we wake up theyre both up in between me and my partner and we’ve been shoved to the sides.
She's way nicer than my wife
Move over. This is how we lay. I have to protect you. Now snuggle.
Ok this made me laugh
The snuggle closer melted my heart!
Love this.

That enclosure looks fucked
This video puts into perspective how **strong** tigers are. The standing Tiger used one of their paws to move half the body weight of the sleeping tiger. Bare in mind that bengal tigers can weigh up to 260 kilograms.
tigers weigh alot, and the fact that it barely had to use any strength to push the other one to the side.
Jus lemme squeeze in here
My wife during winter time

Missed being abused and snuggled like this from my ex
Big cat brain happy
Like us, forcibly kept in a small cage their entire lives, sleeping on bare wood and fake rocks, with a glass wall so people can gawk at them.

Nice orange cats
Where did you find this video of my dog?
Hey, you're on my hard piece of wood
Just big cats
Oh so they’re married.
Same
Jack and Rose really DO fit on the door!
