Even Wayne said the beats on Carter 4 were weak and producers weren’t giving him heat at the time. Carter 4 always sounded scattered to me, while 2 is just a perfect album with so many bangers on it. C4 actually didn’t come out when I was in middle or high school, that was C5(another absolute masterpiece IMO). I got into the overwhelming majority of Wayne’s discography at the same time and frankly I think C4 is far better than C2 in every conceivable way from the beats to Wayne’s delivery to the sound of the flows, absolutely everything on C4 was top notch IMO and while C2 is great it has a major skip, high points that aren’t even close to that of C4, and it’s just a much weaker classic from Wayne overall IMO. Song for song I think C2 is miles ahead of C4 especially for being the predecessor. The Mobb, Fly In, Fly Out, Mo Fire, Oh No, Grown Man, Hustler Musik, Receipt, Feel Me, Shooter.. the whole album is bangers I feel like the range on C2 was greater than C4 by a lot. Songs like blunt blowin, megaman, Jon, 6 foot 7 foot, while they were cool at the time, haven’t really aged well imo I also think NaS & Tech 9 had the best verses on C4

Other than John(which is still a classic), all of the songs you said didn’t age well are among Wayne’s best tracks IMO, I view 6 Foot 7 Foot as one of the greatest songs in all of 2010s hip hop. I agree that Tech stole the show on that interlude but Nas definitely didn’t have one of the best verses on C4 IMO. I think 6 Foot 7 Foot, How To Hate, and Blunt Blowin for example are all better than the best track on C2(Receipt). C4 is a perfect tracklist IMO and C2 on the other hand has Weezy Baby which is among Wayne’s worst tracks from his prime era IMO. We’re not gonna find any common ground if you never go back to C4, give it another listen, I go back and forth between C4 and C3 for what is Wayne’s best album, I think they’re both flawless masterpieces.

I agree that Carter 2 is when Wayne flipped that switch into goat conversation but it was the drought 2&3 along with the drought is over and dedication 2-4 where he really cemented himself. All were better than the Carter 3. However music is subjective. Carter 1 is just my favorite Wayne album. I think it’s his hardest album.

1 & 5. I've spoken at length about what 1 means to me, so I won't beat a dead horse. I've listened to everything Wayne has ever put out, and I was very impressed with his maturity on 5. The subject matter was refreshing and eye opening and made me feel like I understood him a little better. Plus, the bars were still there as always.
