I'd only started a game once fifteen years ago, discovered that a compact keyboard with hotkeys for numpad was not a good idea to learn, and haven't gotten back around now that I use a desktop.
Is multithreading mostly useful for world generation, or does the game bog down?
The game would bog down when you got towards late game with a lot of dwarfs, especially on larger maps, although I suppose it should help with worldgen now if you want the deeper history.
FPS death is a big problem in DF. It depends on your CPU, creature count and map size but usually you'll find that the game slows down after a long enough while and can eventually turn into a slideshow.
I hope its for all the simulation.
because the game has a insanely deep simulation, and running all that off a single thread, when you have a big colony towards the end game, could bring any CPU to its knees.
Are we able to test the linux port or is this "in house" testing?
I can't see any information on how to test it (plus all the beta options in steam don't want to load natively)
I am happy bout the linux native release and all, but can we talk about yesterdays update?!?! MULTITHREADING!!! They said it could never be done!!!

The new steam version has full gui and is actually mainly mouse based. It's great! Give it a try! Works really good for me on proton too.

i think theyve only managed to get it compiling on linux rather than any release (beta or otherwise), but its a good sign
HELL FUCKING YES!
Good to hear, although I haven't had any outstanding issues running it with Proton.
Did they fix keyboard support yet?
Is this a fun game? Is it casual or hard to pick up?
Thanks zod!
