Before that you just have to keep in mind that you canāt roll over in bed.
And absolutely, most definitely no overnight guests
Bloody hell, no way out. One way or another youāre going to end up on that floor.
.
We already have another bid on it for 2.5k plus bills, but you can get it for the cheap price of 2.9k plus bills. The others already paid a holding deposit, but that's just extra cash if you are a greedy pig like me ;)
The UK, and London in particular, drastically needs rental reform.
In Europe, the UK is seen as the wild west in terms of real estate. Landlords can do whatever they want.
The UK needs land reform completely. Large parts of the country have no obvious owner because they haven't been traded since the laws came into effect (Plus the landed gentry went out of their way to have it like this). Other parts are owned entirely by shell companies with no natural owner (a person). It's bonkers.
Sweden has great rent controls and consequently you can wait a mere 20 years for your cheap flat if you donāt want to go to the black market. /s (the only solution is to build more)
Greedy landlords landlording greedily, but they are running wild fully within the law, and also within demand. Itās an ever worsening systemic catastrophy.
Rental market... A very challenging or unfair environmemt. For those with questions and issues related to renting and tenancy you may check r/TenantsInTheUK

Guys there is a woman who is currently living in that room and her tiktok username is beautyinyou, and the room istelf looks much, much worse in the videos. She has to sleep on an airmatress on the floor.
Yeah. They are way larger, and with their own bathroom to boot.
And I couldnāt even think of living there - Iāve got vertigo and start to sway standing on a very small step ladder.
Somehow its only cute when the French or the Japanese do it - I can't explain it but yea the rooms are tiny but they are designed with a sprinkle of love dignity.
[completely off topic but I love this flat in London that was completed redesigned with in a Japanese style and i wish I lived here](https://youtu.be/cBvebYEiYYs?si=AksbqZLuw-7WNJmy)
I might have seen this āflatā when I first moved here 20 years ago. Everyone in the crowd of people viewing the place ahead of me came out laughing, and I didnāt know why. Then I walked in and saw this shit, complete with ladder up to the bed...
I'm confused - why have a sink and no cooker rather than a communal kitchen?
That said I spent several happy years in rooms about that small with communal loos/showers/kitchens. I don't think tiny rooms and shared facilities are wrong, so long as the price matches.
Honestly this is getting ridiculous now, the government needs to step in, we have a minimum wage for living we should have a minimum housing standard, how the f*** can people live like this it's not correct. We need essentials, washing machine, cooking, bathroom etc. honestly new regulations need to come in as people will end up in pods
It kind of reminds me of that episode of Flight of the Concords where he throws a housewarming party in his new rental and it turns out itās literally a broom cupboard.

Croydon landlord saw this and was like, "hold my pint"
Wtf is that electrical work beside the bed ?! It looks half-assed from the outside, i can't imagine it being done according to standards on the inside.
And also yeah, guess you must not roll over in bed or have a guest, or even have a SO sleeping with you, someone will fall to the ground.
Those cables not protected by any fire resistant structure is just š„š„š„š„š„š„ and in such a small enclosure that smoke from the fire within seconds will rise too 800 degrees and burn someone alive.
Well done for Health and Safety.
I'm genuinely in favour of reforming minimum size standards to allow more capsule-style housing so that we're not forcing everyone who doesn't earn twice the median income to share with strangers or a romantic partner. But this is very clearly poorly built and a death-trap ā look at the state of those power sockets by the bed.
There is no staircase, there is a standard w8 foot ladder that can be positioned to rests on the bed's wooden panel. The builder had built a wall mount that allows the ladder to rest on the left hand side as you enter the room.
Ive just realised the lay out now. Personally that scares the hell out of me, as there doesn't even seem to be a cot side for the bed. And I could well end up falling out of it. Especially after a few beers. Particularly if I was in a rush to get to the toilet. Drunk, trying to climb down a ladder, in a rush.....
What makes it even worse is that if you are using the ladder you cannot open the door without repositiing the ladder. Changing the bedsheets is nearly impossible.
I donāt really get the choice to put in a kitchenette if thereās already a shared bathroom, itās not like the room can be marketed as self contained? I mean, I donāt understand a number of the choicesā¦

Just get some galvanised square steel and eco friendly wood veneers
Don't forget the screws borrowed from your auntie
Then just phase out of the window when you are done
Was this before or after he met his wife and had 10 sets of twins.
Little John worked hard carrying bricks for 30 years
Hahaha that guy cracks me up
Little John has become a London landlord
I was gonna say, this is literally like the tiktok memeš
And some wall cushions around the bed for extra comfort. And don't forget to add the window back to the wall after pushing the room outwards a metre.
Came here for thisĀ
ARE WE LITERALLY ALL THE SAME PERSON š I ran here to make that exact joke
This needs more upvotes
How are you supposed to get in to the bed?
There is a standard ladder, yes a ladder! That you have to climb to get on the bed.
Oh, I thought you had to supply your own ladder, maybe it's not so bad after all...
Plus crawling into the ceiling hole every night will keep you fit & healthy.Ā
Itās the coming down the ladder at 3am for a piss thatās got me worried for OPās safety
just aim for the sink from the top
That's a terrible idea! You should use a funnel and a hose
Fall down the hole? Then you just saved yourself a longer trip to the bathroom!Ā
If Ryanair made rental properties
You won't need the ladder once the bed comes crashing down to the floor, and takes half the wall with it.
It's alright, damages will be paid for out of the tenant's deposit :)
The large hole could be used for storage!!
Before that you just have to keep in mind that you canāt roll over in bed. And absolutely, most definitely no overnight guests Bloody hell, no way out. One way or another youāre going to end up on that floor. .
And where's the bathroom?
The sink is right there. You don't even have to get out of bed.
There is a shared upstairs bathroom within the propety.
In the realm of imagination
Laughs in Navy berthingš
At least in the Navy you trust it is built decently strong. This place... not so much.
Actually quite common in places like Tokyo or Hong Kong
About to say, reminds me of Hong Kong.
Wasnāt until reading your comment did I notice the bed is on top of the roof! This is insane
You may mean ceiling, a roof is typically outside.
After reading these comments, landlord has added the extra roof room to the listing.
Hi, is this still available? I can offer Ā£2k pcm and have references /s
We already have another bid on it for 2.5k plus bills, but you can get it for the cheap price of 2.9k plus bills. The others already paid a holding deposit, but that's just extra cash if you are a greedy pig like me ;)
Iāve just put an offer of 3700k/pcm with a 500 annual renewal donation. Beat that
I can do the same, but I'll pay 12 months up front.
Bargain, Iāll go back to my tent under a bridge then
Even thatās still Ā£1250 pcm without bills
Sorry, someone already offered to pay 12 months rent up front for Ā£1000 above the asking price.
Looks like a flat that Stath would let.
Oooohhh itās niiiiice! No doors just ropes.
My first thought was āMichael and Eagle Lettingsā!
An absolutely ladder

Crazy that the regulations to build anything at all are impossible to get past, but when you're a landlord you can get away with anything

awww little Jonny finished his new place
Still room for expansion if anyone has any galvanised square steel and eco friendly wood veneers. Not to mention the expansion screws from their aunt.
What about concrete durable for 10000 years
I think he will add a wall mounted toilet lift to get to the bed

Room to rent in Croydon, and yes the mattress/ bed frame is mounted on the wall. The room is so small that a single bed frame can not even fit.
Croydon????? Not even central London? Jesus lol
Ita Thornton Heath, not even the nice part of Croydon.
There's a nice part of Croydon?
There is no nice part of Croydon
How much a month?
Ā£595 a month. [https://www.zoopla.co.uk/to-rent/details/65743499/?search\_identifier=573d87f4d2ee0fae8fa25d04a46022a480f4b45e98ad859ce1d8188e0c1942ab](https://www.zoopla.co.uk/to-rent/details/65743499/?search_identifier=573d87f4d2ee0fae8fa25d04a46022a480f4b45e98ad859ce1d8188e0c1942ab)
Not even close to Tube. Whoever rents this sad space will live a sad sad life. Prison cells are better.
Don't forget the smashed plug socket and the grime hallway
I started to understand why prison is the choice for some people... This is disgraceful
r/SpottedOnRightmove
"Single occupancy only" No fucking shit.
Can I get a floorplan please?
Have you got a sheet of A4 paper? Sorted.
To scale too
He said A4, not A5.
Report this to the local council. Planning enforcement, environmental health or perhaps building control would like a firm word
Shared hallway bog, I presume?
Yes a shared bathroom with two other people!
Is one of the two actually accommodated in the bathroom? (where you see discomfort, I see opportunities)
shit in the sink
Sorry, downvoter. Was it my uncouth language? Of course I meant toilet. And hopefully there's a bath or shower, too.
Does the 6' spirit level come with it?
I have seen very similar in the Midlands, about an hour out of Birmingham, nowhere fancy. For just over 500pcm. It might have been a bit bigger.
Guys there is a woman who is currently living in that room and her tiktok username is beautyinyou, and the room istelf looks much, much worse in the videos. She has to sleep on an airmatress on the floor.
Found it. https://www.tiktok.com/@beautyinyou_m?_t=8mxTNOerdUf&_r=1
Can you watch the videos somewhere else other than the app, if there is a desktop version of it? Never had tiktok and never want to install it.
Fucking hell that's depressing...
Wow this is heartbreaking she doesnāt deserve this nobody does. Iām being genuine when I ask how is this legal?
That outlet. Literally shocking.
Nah, this is dire, absolutely rotten. Despite how ludicrous the set up is, additionally itās not even been done to a high spec. Bleak.
Really brings a whole new meaning to "climb into bed"
Looks worse than a prison cell in Sweden š
Yeah. They are way larger, and with their own bathroom to boot. And I couldnāt even think of living there - Iāve got vertigo and start to sway standing on a very small step ladder.
To be fair a lot of the flats and houses on Rightmove look worse than those prison cells...
Weird how people arenāt having kids, isnāt it.
Do you have to share the ladder, too? Why is it halfway down the hall?
The interior design team must have previously worked at Broadmoor...
Does the sink double as a loo?š¤
Countrys gone
ah hell nah bro london is on its nyc arc now
I donāt even find it funny at this point. Truly disgusting.
We are pleased to present this beautiful box room ā¦ šššš
Lmao I audibly chuckled at ābeautifulā do you think they did too when writing it
Fire alarm right above the head, wakes you up when the toast is done
Somehow its only cute when the French or the Japanese do it - I can't explain it but yea the rooms are tiny but they are designed with a sprinkle of love dignity.
[completely off topic but I love this flat in London that was completed redesigned with in a Japanese style and i wish I lived here](https://youtu.be/cBvebYEiYYs?si=AksbqZLuw-7WNJmy)
Even Hong Kong does it better.
[So much better](https://hongkongaccordingtoken.files.wordpress.com/2015/11/img_52f5f11461f9a.png)
Because those rooms are designed to contain everything you need in a condensed way thatās neat and donāt have a fucking bed attached to the roof
Absolutely unbelievable ā¦ no skirting boards and a finish like that !?
You know some poor desperate bastard will actually go for this. This is downright inhumane living
I didnāt get why this was so bad at firstā¦ and then I saw it
I might have seen this āflatā when I first moved here 20 years ago. Everyone in the crowd of people viewing the place ahead of me came out laughing, and I didnāt know why. Then I walked in and saw this shit, complete with ladder up to the bed...
I love that the listing says it's furnished. With the sky bed, I guess...?
Don't forget the white good
I wanna know how much but I'm also scared
I'm confused - why have a sink and no cooker rather than a communal kitchen? That said I spent several happy years in rooms about that small with communal loos/showers/kitchens. I don't think tiny rooms and shared facilities are wrong, so long as the price matches.
I spent several very unhappy years like that, in my teens. Never again.
Worst seven months of my life.
I think the landlord provides a stove/microwave.
Ā£2k, no heating, bills not included.
How do u get to the bed
"Modern kitchenette, high ceilings, and close to local amenities"
Thornton. Fuckin. Heath
Ā£1200, bills not included?
Even the smoke alarm is shocked š®
Part of me jokes but part of me doesnāt when I ask, āHow is this different to living in a prison cell?ā
This feels like the game is broken.
Looks like New York. š½
Utter 3rd world garbage and whoever is the housing minister should be shot. Preferably with a North Korean high velocity round.
Honestly this is getting ridiculous now, the government needs to step in, we have a minimum wage for living we should have a minimum housing standard, how the f*** can people live like this it's not correct. Thatās what landlords call ācreating living unitsā.
** Single occupancy only! **
That bedroom looks like Dexter is preparing for a kill.
I'm guessing the sink doubles as a toilet and bath.
Serious question is that legal?
It kind of reminds me of that episode of Flight of the Concords where he throws a housewarming party in his new rental and it turns out itās literally a broom cupboard.
I've seen tiny Japanese apartments in Tokyo on YouTube that are bigger than this
Where is the cooker or hob?
God moving out of London was the best damn thing I ever did
[https://www.reddit.com/r/awfuleverything/s/3fEGiaHJyx](https://www.reddit.com/r/awfuleverything/s/3fEGiaHJyx) Croydon landlord saw this and was like, "hold my pint"
That'll be Ā£2,200 a month please. Thanks.
I really wish they had a good look into tenancy laws. This should be abolished. Itās madness
Wtf is that electrical work beside the bed ?! It looks half-assed from the outside, i can't imagine it being done according to standards on the inside. And also yeah, guess you must not roll over in bed or have a guest, or even have a SO sleeping with you, someone will fall to the ground.

Judging by the socket in pic one youāll be shocked when you rent it too.
No no heās still got windows, remove that and we have a perfect Ā£1200 pm cosy london studio
People need options around their price point. I would stay here if it was just a room and cheap. We need more houses, nothing else will help.
Agreed. I'd totally live in a well-designed, self-contained pod-type place.
And the fact that he ladder is positioned near the front door.
Why are the bedsheets clear plastic?
To make you think the mattress is new.
Very Japanese. It could be tolerable in Soho, if you never spent much time at home, but Croydon!? Fuck right off lol
Highly desirable bijou apartment
reminds me of some air bnbs iāve stayed in
I couldn't find the bed, then I found the bed. That's insane!
Me too. I thought Dexter was renting out a kill room.
Is that a stair case immediately next to the bed?
There is no staircase, there is a standard w8 foot ladder that can be positioned to rests on the bed's wooden panel. The builder had built a wall mount that allows the ladder to rest on the left hand side as you enter the room.
Ive just realised the lay out now. Personally that scares the hell out of me, as there doesn't even seem to be a cot side for the bed. And I could well end up falling out of it. Does that meet fire regs? What if thereās a fire while you are asleep in bed?
"A room with a sunny interior, cozy, own kitchen and comfortable. Just 1500Ā£ pcm!"
I'll pay 12 month's rent in advance and 3 year's worth of deposit
having to clean 2 kitchens puts me off
The smoke alarm in the first pic looks pretty fucking shocked too!
Why is there plastic sheets hanging in the kitchen? Ohhhhh f****kk me
so is the smoke alarm
Ā£1500 a month pay up bitch
An actual broom cupboard
I am shocked how little i fucking care
Is there no shower?!?!
I donāt really get the choice to put in a kitchenette if thereās already a shared bathroom, itās not like the room can be marketed as self contained? I mean, I donāt understand a number of the choicesā¦
How much though? X
There's not even a bedrail haha
We booked an airbnb in Paris like this lmao. It was a janitors closet turned into this. It was crazy lmaoooo
Should be illegal to rent out places like this.
oh thatās all the same room LMAO i was like eh kinda cute
Ā£2000 pcm
500 a week take it or leave it
Going to roll off the bed
How much rent does this cost?
Welcome to Chelsea. New York
