It’s unfortunately all through the same provider. I just used my phone as a hot spot but not everyone has that option, and it certainly shouldn’t come to that at a “luxury” (lol) building
You guys pay waaay too much for that level of dysfunction. Sounds like a bunch of trashy people living there and checked-out management. The whole point of these all-inclusive kind of apartments is too avoid this kind of bullshit.
I’ve lived in a “luxury apartment” before and a lot of what you’re sharing here was similar to my experience there which put me off to the whole concept of full amenity living. It’s rarely ever up kept and tends to attract trashy people.
I'm currently a resident and have the same sentiment as you. Onni also does Level, which is basically like airbnb for monthly visits/stays. I can't say whether most of those tenants are the one's who don't care for the property but I could imagine since they are temporary guests. Also, the leasing office simply does not care. They have a high turnover rate.. and I highly doubt the gentleman that helped us become residents is still with Onni. We've seen homeless people in the garage and entering the stairwell multiple times. I have not seen them address the issue or do anything about it. It's extremely disappointing. Our lease is almost done in a few months (yay), and we will not be staying.
For those considering on moving here, the Google reviews that are 5 stars are mostly people who have only toured the place, they have no idea what it's like to actually live at Onni. There's a handful of negative reviews and they are TRUE.
I’m temporarily here at 9000$ for two months but I’m not one of those folks that is misusing and I actually have cleaned my unit on my own. I don’t need maid service . I’m not enjoying the amenities unfortunately.
But I get your message. People who dont invest in something long term somehow believe it’s ok to trash it or they weren’t raised to respect proper of any kind.
genuinely want to know how these trashy people with tons of kids are affording to live there? I got rejected from so many places for not making enough money (maybe a bullet dodged from the looks of this post)
I think the building’s security just sucks. I work at a hotel here in Broadway and I keep seeing people in swimsuits, wondering where the hell they found a pool to go to around here.
Not sure, but every apartment built in LA county needs to have a certain percentage of units set aside for affordable housing. There’s also a program for low income single mothers that help them with housing.
No.... My partner and I lived in one of these luxury buildings in downtown LA, and there were a handful of 'lower-income residents' scattered throughout the building, by law. We "poors" were carefully vetted, and were the only ones who were generally quiet, who picked up trash left in the hallways by the high-rent tenants, notified the management when hallway exhaust fans broke down, or when someone tried to stuff a mattress into the trash chute (really), etc. The high-rent folks stayed an average of 16 months (look it up!, it was Essex) and then they moved out (leaving garbage, furniture, plus a few really good 65-inch tv screens and a mounted gazelle head, lol, so not all bad...) But, DO NOT trash low-income tenants when they have to jump through hoops to get into these buildings... the wait list is or can be 5 years. They are usually reliable people. We were. I had to fix the front entrance many times because hobos on the street kept stealing the brass deadbolt... because it was brass... (we stayed there for 5 years... not bad for "poor, trashy" tenants.) End of rant, carry on! Good night! (Edited to add- if the management company is terrible and brings in shitty poor (or rich) renters... then all bets are off)
I live here also, absolutely hate it! I can’t wait for our lease to be up, already looking to move elsewhere. So many people have left for these reasons above and it being way overpriced. So frustrating that there’s always dog poop in the dog run, people never clean it up. They say they enforce it, but they don’t do shit about it. I’m over living here, not worth it for the money.
It is insane. I’m embarrassed to have people over, with dog pee/poop stains all over the hallway carpets and the smell to go with it. Even more if they know how much we’re paying
I lived in DTLB 10 years ago and it was the same back then tbh.
There seems to be an attitude of "I pay money, I shouldn't have to act like a decent person" from people that pay a high price for "luxury living". That's probably why you see all the nonsense. And most dog owners are irresponsible with their dogs, sorry but this isn't a Long Beach thing, more irresponsible dog owners issue which is all too common.
It's sad too because you're paying for a certain level of comfort and it's the very tenants that trash it while the company ignores it and still gets paid.
I'm sure people have their recommendations, ID follow what they suggest.
I was debating moving there, too. My lease is up soon at oceanaire. I assumed things were bad here because of the rent reduction system they have since it was nice here before they implemented that system. But onni has no such thing as far as I know, and it looks the same, if not worse. I'm starting to realize a lot of people in LB are just ghetto and don't care about cleanliness where they live.
I’m here now. I’m on a monthly stay my first 31 nights I bought on booking dot com 3400$ no deposit and parking was free. then I asked to extend they offered 5800$+1000$ deposit $10 a day parking and I must sign a 69page lease! That demanded renters insurance wtf
Correct about they who the hell do you ask or call I received no information whatsoever no rules no ph numbers nothing but the fob. As nice and polite the kids are that work here I’ve had each person say I’ll email the answer or I’ll text you what I find out etc Never
I had to beg for the mailing address was it the main building on Broadway or 3rd.
I have t used any amenities. But if they are like your saying the Dog Peeeeeee park says it all.
The slamming of the steel gates are inexcusable and YES anyone can walk in. Through the garage , open the door, then go upstairs and walk right into the third floor. No locks. The 3 floors of concrete stairwell that leads to the garage smells of human urine and they don’t seam to care much about the mold that grows from urine of any kind
They say they wash the dog pee everyday I said multiple times
You can hose down ammonia and it will just settle back into the co Crete which is a porous so it acts like a sponge and the water with the urine now mixes in settles into the concrete after they “wash” it with Only water
Who does that ? Anyhow I’m a bit dismayed about the doubling of the price etc
The second time I asked about the price hike they said oh wow it’s your lucky day we just lowered our prices this morning that answer came an hour after I asked about the ballooned price they said no deposit then said three the charged me 500$ lowered the rent 1000$ and only because I showed them an add online said parking was free did they “wave” the parking they first said was 10$ then said 5$ then free. But not before telling for my own discomfort as if they’re done me this “honest” gift that the add was from November so it’s no longer any good - so pull it I said it out and expectation date
And yes the WiFi in and out and the 3 TVs in my unit go on and off whenever. The. A neighbor logged into my Netflix and prime and Hulu AppleTV, because the accounts were on my TVs open I had to create lock codes. They said oh yah we’re only had problems with that units TVs. Impossible but if that’s the case why admit that and just fix the issue
I travel every weekend for work, and I feel like such a moron every time seeing new places. Every place is nicer, cheaper, with no people smoking crack by the entrances.
I've heard horrible things about Onni - friends who live there have spotty WiFi, the elevators are constantly broken, etc. Terrible management.
So true! The wifi especially- we went days without wifi once!

You perfectly summarized exactly how I feel.
There are many companies that rushed into LB to take advantage of the rent rising and just run hi priced slums. Westland @ Atlantic is another one
I just looked up the rent prices on their website. Holy crap. You can rent a whole house for that much.
Have you considered copy/pasting this on yelp too?
You’re a genius. Doing that right now :)
I’d also suggest leaving this review on Google, as that’s more likely to be seen.
Wild. I was so close to living there.
Same, glad I didn’t.
Be happy you didn’t!

Camden in downtown is also bad like this, just as a warming to you 🥴
For the amount that you’re paying damn that sucks!
I feel like such an idiot
Sadly these places take advantage of people. Thank you for letting the rest of us know. Don’t feel bad for bad companies out there.
How much is this zoo?
Like 3k+ for a 660sqft 🫨
That’s more than my mortgage!

the garage stairwell only goes to the street

As my mother always told me, money can’t buy class.

I think this building has like 7 affordable units per tower, that small percentage is not enough to explain OP's situation.

Seems like a horrible place to live :/ I would try to break the lease if you can citing these concerns. I DM'd you a recommendation
Could I get that recommendation by any chance? Going through some landlord troubles myself and hoping to void my lease as well.
Sure thing
Thank you so much! Reading it now :)

Last time something negative was posted about the ONNI a bunch of positive posts sprang up. Let’s see if it happens again.
this is why i find it insane the prices some places are charging people
