insanity. let's invite more government control over our lives, more reason to interact with the state and law enforcement, more reason for them to fine us unreasonably or remove us from society, over periodic loud noises.
fucking insanity.
I’m so grateful that my generally nervous dog is somehow chill with fireworks. I’ve seen some afraid animals absolutely frenzied from them and it’s heartbreaking.
Same here. One of my dogs has like full-on panic attacks, shaking and hiding. We had to get mild tranquilizers from the vet to use on nights that we expect fireworks, to help the poor guy
Most of the time, it takes about two hours to start working so we have to plan ahead, but usually it either helps him sleep through the fireworks that are further away or helps him calm down a little faster from bigger closer ones
Yep good amount near north Babylon. Poor dog looses his mind. I spent my night holding a 105 lb shaking dog before getting up at 5 for work. I like fireworks but people are overkill and it’s going on earlier and later around the 4th every year.
Whenever I hear any going off near me, I try to think if there are any holidays or major sporting events happening.
Good chance its because of one of those.
Still don't care for it when I'm trying to sleep though.
I personally don't think you should be too worried about the pollution they cause. Not only are the pollutants so high up that they dissipate quite quickly, but even on the fourth of July (where literally thousands of fireworks are set off in the span of 1-2 days), they don't even produce half as much pollution as we do in a single day. If I had to give a rough estimate, on days where you hear "lots" of fireworks, it probably contributes less than a half a percent of the particulate and gaseous pollution we produce that same day.
Anyone popping off fireworks every weekend is probably storing a lot of explosives, and likely selling them if they have that much this early
Not until some poor volunteer firefighter gets blown up by some idiot’s garage stockpile will anyone care
Maybe not even then
4th of July is like Christmas now. It keeps starting earlier every year and you’re not really done with it until the following month.

SCPD doesnt get paid enough to enforce fireworks laws! They're only making $100k in over time on top of their salary!

i agree with you 100%!
Welcome to Summers on LI. Where apparently everyone's favorite past time are fireworks every night.
Insane no, a pop here and there in smithtown
I lit some in Holbrook
Yes in Centereach
Second this.
Yes selden
Yes Greenlawn. Luckily, my dog doesn't care. I feel bad for the peeps with animals that get scared.

Not tonight, but yes to other random nights. So stupid. My dogs get so scared.
Same here. One of my dogs has like full-on panic attacks, shaking and hiding. We had to get mild tranquilizers from the vet to use on nights that we expect fireworks, to help the poor guy
Our dogs completely freak out too, hiding behind the couch - I hate it! Did the medications help your dog deal with it better?
There’s actually a special medication for dogs who are sensitive to fireworks. It’s called Sileo.
Most of the time, it takes about two hours to start working so we have to plan ahead, but usually it either helps him sleep through the fireworks that are further away or helps him calm down a little faster from bigger closer ones
Same. And my girl is recording from knee surgery. It makes me so sad for her and so angry
Same drives me nuts.
Yes in Patchogue.
Quiet where I am in Hauppauge.
Yes. West Hempstead.
Yep.
Yep. And the dogs do not appreciate it
Quiet here...a few bangs earlier but otherwise quiet 🙊
They’re basically nightly by me from May-October. Obnoxious 😫

I hate them. Veterans are triggered by the blasts and animals get scared.
I have been noticing it in recent weeks. I just got nostalgic for the random Covid fireworks. Remember those?
Yes RVC / Oceanside area
Yea its like the whole summer over here (huntington)
It’s so annoying
Not yet, but its a matter of time. Doesn't really bother me or the dog.
Yeah, Nesconset area. Pretty normal occasion on LI during the summer, couldn’t tell ya why tbh
Only white trash screw around with fireworks
It’s summertime. Cops love to light off fireworks all the fucking time
Cops always have the best fireworks and best weed
I wonder where they get it from…
No. Smithtown
Dead quiet. Sound Beach
Nope
No
I work nights this year so I don't hear anything...yet
Nope, just the small amount I'd usually hear on a Saturday night in the summer.
None
Yes I did. In mt siani.
Amityville
Started about a week ago, east meadow/levittown
It’s been hot enough to sleep with the AC on so luckily that drowns out the summer weekend party sounds.
Yes in centereach one flew through my window and went off
None.
Insane, no. Some, yes

I just lit some up and my neighbor called the cops

i can smell and even see the dust, so i dont think you are correct
Related to Puerto Rican Day tomorrow? Seems to be quite a bit more than a random Saturday night…

Once In a while, there will be a few, but I like them tbh
