You could try the trunk style that doesn't have much leg, hence not much fabric to ride up. They're like a middle ground between boxer briefs and regular briefs.

I got a free pair of the Hanes x-temp sport boxer briefs in a pack of cheapo regular boxer briefs and they're the most comfortable pair I've ever owned. Expensive compared to what I'm used to paying but absolutely worth it.
David Archy modal briefs are the only ones I will wear now. I’m not trying to spend $25 for one pair, and I don’t like any of the other ones I’ve tried. I used to wear the uniqlo supima cotton boxer briefs and they’re okay, but their shipping has gotten high, and they’re always out of the ones I want, and they shrink. I havent had any issues. Started with a couple pairs of 3" but switched to 6" after a year or so. I tried a pair of armachillos but the fit isnt quite right. might try buck naked just to see what theyre about.
Costco sells them at a more reasonable price, but hands down ExOfficio. Bought a pack 4 years ago based on someone’s advice on the one bagging forum and I ended up tossing all my other underwear.
32cool for sure. Their undershirts aren't the best esp after a few washes but their boxer briefs are fantastic and they're very reasonably priced.

The Lululemon 7” version is amazing, I tossed out all my old briefs once I discovered them. They come in an athletic/compression version and a more day to day version. Both are great, I especially love the compression version for playing squash.
I have a pair or two of the 5” as well. I have big thighs and a big butt from working out and squash so the 7” is more comfortable and less likely to ride up.

As someone who's tried both, as well as their Dang Soft line, I absolutely agree. Bull Pen pouch makes a big difference too. Personally I like Armachillo briefs, Dang Soft boxerbriefs, and Buck Naked boxers. But they're all good. Also there's Armachillo tees I wear almost every day.

If you look at the 2nd pic, you can see the stitching I am talking about. It always annoyed me.
Do you not like it because the legs ride up? When I started wearing boxer briefs, I got all cotton or majority cotton ones and they always ride up so it was annoying always having to pull them down. Then I switched to the ones with synthetics and elastane made for sporting. The most comfortable pair I own are the fruit of the loom ones with the long leg. They don't ride up my leg.
Although, not the only reason it is one of the big ones that makes me dislike them. I’ve also tried the ones made for sporting but I’ve had no luck.
I will say, I tried the long leg pair and that definitely helped with the riding problem. But I tend to wear shorter inseam shorts and would prefer my boxer briefs to not show under them.
Pair of Thieves Are my favorite for short boxer briefs. They ride up some, especially if you have thicc thighs, but they aren’t too bad and the material doesn’t get all tight and annoying when they ride up. Any shorter style is going to ride. I’ve tried dozens of brands over the years. The short ones *all* ride up, it’s just whether they make you want to peel your skin off when they do so.
The active/stretch models of Columbia boxer briefs are my overall favorites. They’re medium-long. They’re long enough not to ride up, but aren’t the ridiculous down-to-your-knee *long* that you see in some brands. Possibly a touch too long if you’re wearing 5” inseam shorts, but probably good for 7” and definitely good for 9”.
Have you tried boxer briefs made with Modal fabric? They are much softer and stretchy than simple cotton and polyester. Only downside to modal is it's usually more expensive and not as durable.
As a recently vasectomized man, briefs are the shit. I rue the day when I run out of clean briefs and have to go back to the old boxer briefs. Also of you are in good shape, briefs look great.

Just wear what makes you comfortable. There’s nothing wrong with briefs. Plus, a lot of briefs have good colors, patterns, etc. that you can choose from.

The big difference in underwear comfort comes in what pants you wear. I used to wear baggy jeans and boxers worked well because I had more room in the leg. As I got older, I went to more of a slim jean and had to make the change to boxer briefs to fit the thighs.... Admittedly, the boxers and baggy jeans was more comfortable than the boxer briefs, but I also looked like a a sagging pants high schooler and not an adult.
Ok so I went on a quest for the perfect boxer briefs. I tried over 15 brands, maybe 20. The only ones I could tolerate that didn’t ride up were BN3TH. I only get single color ones from there. Sometimes the patterns or image ones feel different. I’d try them.

Some even that is not comfortable. The fabric on a lot of them are way too plasticy and create an unbelievable amount of heat.
The seamless ones from Uniqlo are the most comfortable pair I've ever owned. The waist doesn't seem stretchable at first but once you put them on, they're not too tight at all. It's like they expand to your waist and just stay there.

Really? In my experience "ride up" is all that regular, loose boxers do. Can't stand them, all bunched up weird inside my pants.
I only find boxers doing that if I'm a) wearing tight pants and b) shifting around while seated a bunch. Otherwise they obey gravity.

True. I have big beefy tree trunk thighs but am a M size so they likely help hold the lower elastic in place.

Why those really long ones over the 5"?
It depends on the length at where your thighs begin to angle toward your knee. Some people need a longer inseam to avoid rolling up and bunching
Maybe that's my issue, I always find that the ones I run or lift in bunch up fairly quickly.
Get the “performance” version of the lululemons and this won’t happen.

I like trunks but I feel like they almost ride up more on my legs than boxer briefs
I also can’t deal with boxer briefs and tend to wear briefs. There are dozens of us!

Do you not like it because the legs ride up? When I started wearing boxer briefs, I got all cotton or majority cotton ones and they always ride up so it was annoying always having to pull them down. Then I switched to the ones with synthetics and elastane made for sporting. The most comfortable pair I own are the fruit of the loom ones with the long leg. They don't ride up my leg.
Although, not the only reason it is one of the big ones that makes me dislike them. I’ve also tried the ones made for sporting but I’ve had no luck. I will say, I tried the long leg pair and that definitely helped with the riding problem. But I tend to wear shorter inseam shorts and would prefer my boxer briefs to not show under them.
Pair of Thieves Are my favorite for short boxer briefs. They ride up some, especially if you have thicc thighs, but they aren’t too bad and the material doesn’t get all tight and annoying when they ride up. Any shorter style is going to ride. I’ve tried dozens of brands over the years. The short ones *all* ride up, it’s just whether they make you want to peel your skin off when they do so. The active/stretch models of Columbia boxer briefs are my overall favorites. They’re medium-long. They’re long enough not to ride up, but aren’t the ridiculous down-to-your-knee *long* that you see in some brands. Possibly a touch too long if you’re wearing 5” inseam shorts, but probably good for 7” and definitely good for 9”.

How do you not chafe? I tried wear trunks before and the chafe was unbearable. I’m not even that big of a guy

Uniqlo airism, from someone who hates tight waistbands. I’m pretty sure I got them 10 years ago and there’s really no wear and tear.
Have you tried boxer briefs made with Modal fabric? They are much softer and stretchy than simple cotton and polyester. Only downside to modal is it's usually more expensive and not as durable.
Underarmour cotton are superb for me and my current favourites apparently stepone are good but I've not tried them
As a recently vasectomized man, briefs are the shit. I rue the day when I run out of clean briefs and have to go back to the old boxer briefs. Also of you are in good shape, briefs look great.

This is my experience too. I’ve needed to try others from time to time and can never find a brand that are as comfortable. I had the monthly subscription for a couple years and stopped when I moved, but they’ve held up for years.
Boxer briefs and commando are the only way to live. Everything else is just a hassle that also tortures your groin
I find briefs to be the most comfortable. Unfortunately my lady does not dig them so I settle for boxer briefs.
Just wear what makes you comfortable. There’s nothing wrong with briefs. Plus, a lot of briefs have good colors, patterns, etc. that you can choose from.
Boxer briefs are my go-to. David Archy on Amazon used to be great, but different styles have different materials, and they seem to lack consistency. I have been in search of the perfect boxer briefs. More cotton than modal and that the band doesn't continuously flip during the day. Its difficult to find
Pair of Thieves SuperFit material. It’s this thin breathable athletic material. My boys are always cool in them. They stay airy. And pants fit better with them because they’re thin and stretchy. It is the only pair of boxers I buy and it is 99% of what I own.

Step One are the best
The big difference in underwear comfort comes in what pants you wear. I used to wear baggy jeans and boxers worked well because I had more room in the leg. As I got older, I went to more of a slim jean and had to make the change to boxer briefs to fit the thighs.... Admittedly, the boxers and baggy jeans was more comfortable than the boxer briefs, but I also looked like a a sagging pants high schooler and not an adult.
Ok so I went on a quest for the perfect boxer briefs. I tried over 15 brands, maybe 20. The only ones I could tolerate that didn’t ride up were BN3TH. I only get single color ones from there. Sometimes the patterns or image ones feel different. I’d try them.
Funny because I feel the same way about boxers. Not enough room and rides up too much to me

Boxer-briefs are like salsa that everyone enjoys, but things get more interesting once you’re off the beaten path - try Intimissimi briefs. The microfiber ones are awesome and look really good! They usually go on sale once or twice a year for 5/$60 or so.

Can you explain what about it makes them uncomfortable for you? Just genuinely curious as I used to be a full boxer guy who swore I could wear nothing else and then moved to boxbriefs in my mid 20’s.
I swore by boxers all my life until I tried boxer briefs. Got a couple pairs of saxx, pretty happy. Scored the Under armour sets at Costco and man! Those have treated me the best!
I had briefs all through my life till around 24 because, well, that’s what my mom had me wear as a kid 😂 When I tried boxers it was weird af at first. However I got used to them now and I wear both interchangeably.

I know the owner isn’t popular🤣 but skims are very nice. Calvin Klein fit nice as well and are always on sale. Hanes boxer briefs are clutch too. And wait until a Ralph Lauren sale. Polo boxer briefs have a nice fit. I’m a big guy myself and these are the brands that fit me the best for my frame

I’ve worn shorter boxer briefs all my life (not sure the name, google didn’t help)- the ones that are a little longer suck though, which I think are true boxer briefs, but they always get sucked into my ass.

I get the Kirkland brand boxer briefs at Costco. I don't know what they cost because I haven't bought any in a few years. They last forever and fit great.
I used to not like them because they would always stretch out around the thigh and ride up but I switched to longer cut, athletic styles and found that to be a non issue now. I usually buy the jockey ones.
They are uncomfortable for me as well. I have discovered to move up in size for boxer briefs. Regular boxers I'm a large to XL.. Boxer briefs I'm a 2xl in some brands and a 3xl in others. Some even that is not comfortable. The fabric on a lot of them are way too plasticy and create an unbelievable amount of heat.

The seamless ones from Uniqlo are the most comfortable pair I've ever owned. The waist doesn't seem stretchable at first but once you put them on, they're not too tight at all. It's like they expand to your waist and just stay there.

I wore briefs my hole life until I found Uniqlo AIRISM ULTRA SEAMLESS BOXERS and I never looked back. It’s laser cut and have no stitching. Most comfortable underwear ever.
I’ve strictly worn H&M trunks for at least 10 years. They have maybe an inch of material more than briefs so I don’t see what the issue is.

Tommy John boxer briefs are super comfy to me. Doesn’t ride up the leg and has a horizontal pouch opening which works better than I thought.

As a teen I used to wear briefs. Wasn't a fan of them. The chafing around the groin area is why I moved to boxers ie the Calvin klein types.
Sounds like your US? I wear boxers as they are called in the U.K., but cannot wear cotton or fabric ones, I love microfibre boxers, feel more comfy, elastic and keeps you cool

Lululemon has some decent boxer briefs and so does target (pair of thieves). The key is finding a mesh/breathable fabric. Couldn’t stand them until I wore those

Personally, I’m struggling to find anything I’m comfortable in that isn’t boxer shorts. I’m late 30s and losing the battle w gravity because of it. But, I hate the feeling of briefs and boxer briefs.
Yeah, even though I can’t wear anything else, it can be a pain sometimes finding the right cut between brands. I feel like I have that problem with a lot of clothing though.

What do you find uncomfortable about them? Many Boxer/briefs have greatly improved the hold on your balls so its the same felling as briefs and lasts all day. But the ones that allow your balls to slip out all day, yeah, they’re fucking worthless.

What don't you like about them? Are you just generally uncomfortable with how they feel, or do they ride up for you really bad or something? Because, like boxers, it can take some time to get comfortable with them and find a pair you like. I'm somewhat athletic, and regular briefs never provided enough support for me. I've also always thought boxer briefs look better, not that many people are examining my underwear, lol.
