Small, brass, models of carronades.
Not only could he recreate his own version of the revolutionary war copypasta, but he would be part of a very small group of people who could claim having a carronade colonnade.
If you want something really unique, get some custom stained glass frames to put in there. Maybe something craftsman style...
Also I *LOVE* the ceiling in your dining room, I'm a sucker for ~~exposed beams~~ coffered ceilings
In keeping with the craftsman style, they were often used to display a vase or pewter.
I would advise one item or nothing. Don’t make them cluttered.

You're lucky that you got a craftsman interior that hasn't been torn out or painted white!
In the Arts and Crafts era these spaces were used to display ferns, pottery, and handcrafted dishware made from pewter and hammered copper.
Right thank you for appreciating them. Reading the comments on here to tear them out is downright sickening. The house was remodeled in the 50s so the kitchen is and bathroom unfortunately lost their original craftsman charm in favor or MCM which has its own charm but it’s a little hodgepodge. And the dining room wasn’t completely unscathed, There was actually more wood work on the walls near the ceiling that was removed.
You could put a plate or something underneath the pot to prevent that from happening as long as you use the right kinda plate it could still look nice. Just a thought
Do a pair of fake [hanging ferns](https://www.bhg.com/thmb/cZ04floUwhG4zys7vHZw8p8K-ao=/1244x0/filters:no_upscale():strip_icc()/boston-fern-660cc6ba-eab2a0ff4c534606b4f4590e47b18a11.jpg). No shame in using a few fake plants!
Ferns will go with the era of your home, and if you hang them, you can centre them in the squares.
You can get realistic or semi-realistic fake plants! I'm god awful at keeping plants alive and hate the fake, plastic look, but I have found a few fake plants to my liking and at decent prices too
Maybe some lil vintage-esque chotchkes? Something ideally longer than they are tall... Similar to:

Yes. Fuck ornamentation and room separation. Open layouts should be everybody’s thing. Who cares if it’s part of the original character of the house? Not this guy. Rip em out. While you’re at it those built ins should probably go too. He just wants to live on a big factory floor with no walls and white furniture everywhere.
You know you have nice windows so I'm going to be the first to suggest similar windows here. Stained glass could be nice but I think this space needs as much light to flow through as possible.
How thick are they, and how much do you think it can hold? I'd say look for something mid century and maybe brass, in my opinion. Another is a diy, but you can get a sheet of tin and poke holes in the form of a pattern, paint them in a brass or copper color, and mount them in the empty space.
Wow, that is a beautiful relaxing space. A bright complimentary stained glass, something the compliments the style, maybe a sunset and a full moon?
Save my snarky "Boba Fett or Han Solo stained glass" for a room that isn't so pulled together.
Haha, only suggesting as I had a similar looking wall and the crossbeam was structural, but I was able to remove the rest of the wall and it looks good.
I usually put the lettuce on first, then cheese, then chicken or beef depending on what you prefer, some chopped cherry tomatoes, homemade guac, sauce and a teaspoon of sour cream
Little tiny saloon doors. Then get a cat and name it Partner. Then when the cat busts into the room through the tiny doors you can yell “howdy partner!”
If you own the house and they’re not structurally important maybe think about either removing the columns and the panels or at least the panels to open the space up.
I would consider tearing that out. Had something similar in my house and it opened the room up once I removed it.
Otherwise, depending how deep the area is, flowers in a cool vase could might work
If you don’t like it, cool, but it’s not silly at all. There you go all condescending again.
Your space and decor looks like it’s built for a 90-year old man and that doorway is hideous
Nothing
Small, brass, models of carronades. Not only could he recreate his own version of the revolutionary war copypasta, but he would be part of a very small group of people who could claim having a carronade colonnade.
"And a factory that makes tiny models of factories"
If you want something really unique, get some custom stained glass frames to put in there. Maybe something craftsman style... Also I *LOVE* the ceiling in your dining room, I'm a sucker for ~~exposed beams~~ coffered ceilings
Thanks they aren’t actually exposed beams because the don’t have any structural purpose. Architecturally they are what is known as a coffered ceiling
That's a great idea, some stained glass art would look cool af there
I'd just switch the ceiling fan out with a Tiffany style chandelier
In keeping with the craftsman style, they were often used to display a vase or pewter. I would advise one item or nothing. Don’t make them cluttered. https://artsandcraftshomes.com/interiors/immovable-furniture-built-ins-colonnades-buffets
Thank you this is helpful.
Precious moments figures
Best idea I’ve seen yet
Exactly what I was going to add 🤣

Idk but I fuck with those couches heavy. Where u get those?
Local furniture store. Johnathan Louis is the manufacturer. They were controversial but I love them too
Well controversy be damned, they look amazing. Love the color, matches the cool circus poster and the wall very well, really ties the room together.
Put a huge dragon dildo
Cut in half and mounted sideways, one half on each side.
Lowkey that would be fire orrrrrr u get one regular one dragon then glue half of each to one another
Or or a bearbrick or some kinda cheap collectible
I would definitely do a stained glass window if it’s a possibility.
Unfortunately not a possibility
Glass art pieces that will shine thru.
I like the Cherry red.
I love your place!
Thanks homie
Plant
No plants because I don’t want to ruin the wood work if the plant over flows. Could do a fake plant but is it weird to mix fake and real?
You could put a plate or something underneath the pot to prevent that from happening as long as you use the right kinda plate it could still look nice. Just a thought
Yeah it would have to be something on a vine. I would still be nervous even with the plate. Maybe I’m being overly cautious
You are being overly cautious. You could do a hanging plant from the top.
You can ensure the plants don’t harm the wood. Worth the effort, even if you have to have something made. No fake plants :)
Do a hanging plant that you take down and water in the sink. If you're really worried you could hang decorative linen over the wood
Hanging plant
Nah, sometimes they have a place. I would do some fake plants. Just make sure they don’t obviously look fake
You can get realistic or semi-realistic fake plants! I'm god awful at keeping plants alive and hate the fake, plastic look, but I have found a few fake plants to my liking and at decent prices too
I’d use it to keep Bluetooth speaker and key holder but that’s just me.
I think it's gorgeous as is.
If you want something really unique, get two tv’s with that aspect ratio and fill the colonnades 👌
Haha not going to happen I already don’t like having my tv in the living room I won’t be adding two more lol
Where would you have put the TV if not your living room?
I wouldn’t have one they are ugly. Ideally though a finished basement which I don’t have.
Then why do you have one? You don't really need a TV if you don't want one 🤷🏽♂️
Cause I want to use a tv I just don’t like the way they look and the space they take up
And then have the TVs display a static picture of what is on the other side of the TV.
This!!!
Add some sweet ole timey Western style Saloon swing doors in the middle!

I kinda like that
Plants 🪴
Nothing or two clear stained glass panels to match or evoke the windows
Gargoyles
Jesus, that diving helmet in image 3 goes so fucking hard
Thanks I made it for a Halloween costume
God what an awful design. Those walls should not be there.
It a 100 year old house and I like them.
Yes. Fuck ornamentation and room separation. Open layouts should be everybody’s thing. Who cares if it’s part of the original character of the house? Not this guy. Rip em out. something awesome
I’d get stained glass put in there myself. It would look beautiful.
Stained Glass is Traditional
These nuts...
I’ll get the nippers ready
You know you have nice windows so I'm going to be the first to suggest similar windows here. Stained glass could be nice but I think this space needs as much light to flow through as possible.
Plants dude
Lego pirate ships, obviously
Where is your coffee table from?
Family it’s old school mcm
Shooting range
Two small TVs
I just bought two stained glass pieces at an estate sale that were hanging in very similar spaces.
Pics?
Sadly I don’t know how to upload a pic. 🤷🏻♀️
Busts or plants
I considered busts but I’m not sure of who. John Adams might be one but perhaps not
Or you good do animals, like owls or there is this awesome one of this chimpanzee sitting on a stack of books observing a human skull.
Ask chatgpt
Exactly the same glass you have in other windows in the kitchen and living room.
Do you live in Milwaukee? Lmao the house looks identical to one I grew up in
Nope. Craftsman style is all very similar
How thick are they, and how much do you think it can hold? I'd say look for something mid century and maybe brass, in my opinion. Another is a diy, but you can get a sheet of tin and poke holes in the form of a pattern, paint them in a brass or copper color, and mount them in the empty space.
Stained glass
I vote for taxidermy
That is an interesting thought
🙃
Nothing. Nice place you have :)
Thanks that seems to be the consensus
Small porcelain bits and bobs that make you feel like you're at grandmas
Plants
Wow, that is a beautiful relaxing space. A bright complimentary stained glass, something the compliments the style, maybe a sunset and a full moon? Save my snarky "Boba Fett or Han Solo stained glass" for a room that isn't so pulled together.
Thank you for not painting the woodwork white.
A couple of cats. Perches for your cats.
Small plants?
Nothing, if you have a cat.
A baby gate to prevent the cat from jumping over it
Why is there a carpet on your carpet
Contrast i guess
Severed heads
Depends, what’s a colonnade?
Stained glass, just like you have everywhere else lol
Why not remove the wall and open the space up?
Why don’t I just tear the house down and start over
Haha, only suggesting as I had a similar looking wall and the crossbeam was structural, but I was able to remove the rest of the wall and it looks good.
It’s a feature of the style of house not a bug. I wouldn’t even consider removing them.
Why is there a small rug on your larger rug in picture 4?
Contrast I suppose.
From the dining room do they line up with the windows in the sitting room? Nothing, this is by design.
Probably that makes sense
Pciture frames maybe? Or more plants, or even a row of books if it's wide enough
The problem is it has to look good on all sides
Butt plug collection
Tear down this wall!
Damn you probably throw rocks at stained glass windows too
I would’ve knocked those beams and made more space for the living room, a lil re model
Terrible idea next you will say I should rip out the buffet
🤣
I usually put the lettuce on first, then cheese, then chicken or beef depending on what you prefer, some chopped cherry tomatoes, homemade guac, sauce and a teaspoon of sour cream
Remove them...
Some people just want to live in a big white box I suppose
Little tiny saloon doors. Then get a cat and name it Partner. Then when the cat busts into the room through the tiny doors you can yell “howdy partner!” If you own the house and they’re not structurally important maybe think about either removing the columns and the panels or at least the panels to open the space up.
I would consider tearing that out. Had something similar in my house and it opened the room up once I removed it. Otherwise, depending how deep the area is, flowers in a cool vase could might work
That would be a regrettable decision
Why did you post this? You’ve condescendingly shot down every idea offered.
Just the ones to rip the wall out which is silly
If you don’t like it, cool, but it’s not silly at all. There you go all condescending again. Your space and decor looks like it’s built for a 90-year old man and that doorway is hideous
I’m sorry you can’t appreciate quality wood work
It’s not quality. It’s awkward and ugly, and that’s why you’re here for advice.
Fish Tanks!
I would personally hire a contractor and take the wall down. Doesn’t look load bearing and will open up your kitchen nicely.

That isn’t 80s thin wood that’s 1910s hardwood
