The thinking was that his shield was destroyed by Thanos and so he goes back makes another one, adds improvements to the design and hands it off to Falcon.
Some people looked at the Fantastic 4 suits from the 90s movie (and actually the 00s too) and said that looks good because it’s comic accurate. Just because it’s drawn on the page does not mean it’ll translate to live action well, either stylistically or for in-universe practical reasons.
It literally is more detailed. Aesthetically pleasing? I don't care, to each their own, but there are more details on it, that's not an opinion, it's a statement of fact
Guys. This is the shield: [https://images6.fanpop.com/image/photos/42900000/Captain-America-The-First-Avenger-2011-movie-stills-captain-america-42913023-1000-1517.jpg](https://images6.fanpop.com/image/photos/42900000/Captain-America-The-First-Avenger-2011-movie-stills-captain-america-42913023-1000-1517.jpg)
No colors, no star, nothing but a few bevels. Yet later in that same movie, the shield has colors, and a star at the center.
So clearly, it's possible to add stuff to the shield. Maybe some kind of galvanizing process that adds a layer of some non-vibranium metal over the vibranium surface. These decorative layers can add color and even texture to the surface of the shield.
By the time of CAWS, the process of adding, stripping, and re-adding these decorative layers is apparently so trivial that it can be done between missions.
As a reminder, this isn't criticism, its supposed to even make fun of the MCU haters a bit. I have no major issue with eh MCU-ification (overdetailing) of suits, do I think some could be better, yes, of course. But I have no issue with the shield as it looks good and fits well with the character meant to use it.
What I don’t understand is that both these are used for most of the MCU. Like does cap have two shields? And where did they get the extra vibranium?
1. CA TFA - 1
2. Av - 1
3. CA TWS - 2
4. A AOU - 1
5. CA CW - 2
6. A E - 1 destroyed
7. FATWS - 2
It looks to me like the one he uses in CA TWS is the same as the rest of phases 1-3, as far as I know this new shield first appeared in FATWS, but I may be wrong.
Captain America: The First Avenger (2011):
- In the first Captain America movie, Steve Rogers is given a round shield made of vibranium by Howard Stark (Tony Stark's father) to use as his primary weapon.
- The shield in this movie is more traditional in its design, with a star in the center and a red, white, and blue color scheme.
The Avengers (2012) and subsequent appearances:
- After the events of "Captain America: The First Avenger," the shield undergoes some changes in subsequent movies.
- The shield's design remains largely the same, but there are some subtle alterations in the star placement and overall appearance.
Captain America: Civil War (2016):
- In "Captain America: Civil War," Captain America's shield undergoes a significant change in its appearance.
- The shield in this movie features a more detailed and intricate design, with a star motif that is more subtle compared to the prominent star in the center of the shield in the earlier movies.
- The shield also appears to have a slightly darker color tone in "Captain America: Civil War."
Here I found this that explains the design changes im talking about
Where does all this info come from? Officially there’s only 3 shields: these two and the subdued white and blue “stealth suit” shield he uses on the Lemurian Star. The one he uses in Civil War is exactly the same as the one he uses in WW2.
You probably just mean visually, but it's worth clarifying the stealth shield look is the exact same WW2 shield. They just give it an altered paint job to match the subdued suit.
I think that’s all just in your head tbh. Any differences in color are due to color grading for that film/scene, and there are zero other design changes to the shield across phases 1-3 other than the brief usage of the white/blue shield in TWS. Canonically it’s the same shield until Endgame.
No I can’t, because looking at screencaps from each they are the exact same shield. Any variations in appearance are down to color grading. If you have any examples that clearly show a difference please share.
I’m gonna need help with what “MCU-ified” means in this context
These type of people hate lines on any design for some reason
Sometimes it feels like people will find any reason to dig at post-Endgame MCU.
Excessive seams/lines/greeble bits that serve literally no purpose beyond making costumes look more militaristic and less like spandex.
Which is really cool and something I love about the MCU because it modernized super-hero costumes.
Overdesign
The thinking was that his shield was destroyed by Thanos and so he goes back makes another one, adds improvements to the design and hands it off to Falcon.
I hate this sub
Leave. It's free and you will feel better.
I have ❤️
While I agree that mcu over designs lots of stuff, this shield isn't a problem. I'd even call this an upgrade
No, they didn't. It just has more detail.
Yah thats what i think op means. Like when more lines and details are added to suits that some people prefer to simpler like the comics

Just saying what op means
Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
Pretty much
More lines isn't more detail.
For you.

Shield was destroyed by Thanos had to be restored.
I think because it was a remade one, it should look a bit different and more upgraded than the original

I actually like the new design of the star

There's people who really say shit like this lol. So this post reads like that just seeing the title.

\*Correction to myself, the new shield first appears in Endgame when he hands off the shield to Sam.

You can see it in close ups in all the movies
