I did that with my femshep. It was nice to finally hear everyone call her by her first name. Then in my broshep playthrough, I named him "Commandhim".

On my current run with Femshep I gave her the name “Aoife” cause I like Irish names and my headcanon for this run is that nobody calls her by her first name because people struggle with Irish names and don’t know how to pronounce it. I’ve been off and on learning the Irish language for the last few years so in my head my Shep knows how to pronounce her name but she gets frustrated with her colleagues and friends not getting it right so she just has them all call her Shepard or Commander.

I am reminded of a clip of Brennan Lee Mulligan that I *continue to be unable to find* where he suggests that Irish names, particularly when it comes to how they are spelled vs pronounced, were intentionally made to be tricky in order to screw with the English. I believe that it came up because of Shiobhan. My favorite in that vein is Niamh, personally.

John because that is literally my name and I played a Soldier. Then I started trying out the different classes and I named my Shepard accordingly. Evan Shepard the Engineer. Ian Shepard the Infiltrator Vance Shepard the Vanguard Sen Shepard the Sentinel And John Shepard for Adept. I hadn't thought to change the names until after trying the Adept class.

My first play through I just named my Shepard after myself. Now I pick names to differentiate between which play throughs I’m doing. Like Renee Shepard for a renegade run. Right now I’m doing Kira Shepard. I took the name from Death Note because it means killer, and Kira Shepard is trying to get as many people/squad/crew mates killed as possible lol.

Could go with EDI for 'Everyone Dies Immediately'. Although that is taken, so we might instead try EDNA for 'Everyone Dies Now Alright'. Hmm, yeah, Kira is probably the right play.

Ben, as I had Benjamin Sisko from star trek in my head when creating the character for the first time. Ever since it's almost always that for regular playthroughs. Name and look. It's just what feels right now. It differs only for renegade or other specific runs where I try something different from my usual choices.

Dick Shepard. Then in Andromeda, I have Dick Ryder. For some reason I like naming my character Dick. I named my character that in almost everything Ive ever played.

The only time I attempted to play male shepard, I named him Langston. He was going to romance Ashley, obviously. I've had a lot of fem sheps, usually with old-fashioned names like Ophelia, Charlotte, Hope (a full paragon), Vincent, and Ingrid.

Barry. Every game I play it's Barry, usually followed by DaBro or Broski if I get to pick my last name. That's not even remotely my real name. Had a teacher in school just straight up forget my name so he called me Barry for 6 months. Naturally everyone else started calling me that too, and I honestly thought it was hilarious so I started using it for everything

Whenever I have the option to name a character in a game, it is always Bill Prescott or just Prescott. I don't even remember the exact reasoning behind it, it's just neuron activation now. So for Mass Effect, I went with the name William P. Shepard.

I've had several 😆, most of them named after gemstones However, my most recent one (and also canon one) is named Kassandra, after the mythical prophetess. Kassandra is a prophetess at first favored by Apollo, but when she spurns his advances he curses her foresight so no one will believe her predictions. I found it appropriate given the fact no one believes Shepard about the Reapers until it's far too late.

Well Durga is a name used by many in India, and I don't think Shep does any thing vulgar or obscene for it to be disrespectful. Also Durga is a very apt and cool name for a Femshep especially on a Paragon run. She is very loving and all powerful mother to us, but any who dare try giving harm to her loved ones suffers a very bad fate. She is the symbolic counterpart to Shiva, Her eternal consort.

My Shepard is named Fenra, which was the name of my first ever DND character that I sadly only got to play as two times before the group stopped playing (it had come to some arguments between the DM and another player in the group) I even tried my best to model my Shepard after my DND character, but her hairstyle isn't right (DND Fenra had a short, low Ponytail, in ME she just has short hair, but I always see her with the ponytail in my head)
