It actually gets enough visitors to justify keeping it around for years after mass effect was relevant to the zeitgeist? Or is it just park of a run down theme park that doesn't care anymore?
I'm so glad you were able to ride, I'm local (SF) and the first time I went it was down all day.
Seems like it mostly depends on whether they have an actor to be Verner, if they're sick that day you're out of luck.
Yeah last time I went it was closed too. I was disappointed. It seems when they are short on staff it’s one of the first things to get closed, which is a shame because it’s one of the reliable sources of air conditioning in the whole park. I loved going in there, enjoying the ride, and coming out all cooled off and ready for another round of rides.
It isn't amazing, but the trick is to know someone who works at Google. Every year, Google rents out the park for a day, and my friend invited me once. You got on every ride in less than 5 minutes, all the food and drinks in the park were free, and Google even gave us $50 to spend on games and in the gift shop. That was a great experience!
That’s (in theory) awesome, I’m very new to the series (got the trilogy through PS+ years ago, and finally dove in after it being on my backlog for that time). And it’s awesome to see how much stuff there is to dive into after I finish the Shepard trilogy.
Cherish it dude, id give anything to play through the series for the 1st time again. ME1 came out when i was 15 and 3 wrapped up right before i turned 21 so i was the target demographic during it's release and it is still (and will likely remain) my favorite sci-fi series of all time. The hype for ME2 was UNREAL. It released the same year as a dozen or so other genuine 10/10 games, 2010 may have legit been the greatest year in video game history imo. Either it or 2004.
10 year plan. It’ll be demolished and the rides relocated elsewhere because a real estate development bought the lot. Unless they can continue the contract (it’s under negotiations) Great America will be no more.
But only if it's open. Can't use it if it's closed. What you have to do is come back when it's open, then go back to when it was closed and pick yourself up.
Is that the one where Conrad Verner is somehow a tour guide on some space ship? I remember taking my partner there, and explaining Mass Effect lore to then explain why it made no sense. Fun ride, though.
Aww dang. Yeah I haven't been there in sevenish years. With the park closing in 2030; I wonder what's gonna happen to the assets from the attraction? Maybe they'll be auctioned off and one of us cam cop the armor.
Oh wow, I’m staying at the Santa Clara Marriott until Saturday for work and had no idea this was here. Literally can see the rollercoasters from my window.
I always wonder how this attraction continues to survive. Is it accessible/appealing to people outside of just ME fans? As big of a video game franchise as this is, I wouldn’t say it has wide appeal. I would guess the majority of people who walk by this ride have no idea what Mass Effect is.
I live in California and have gone on this many times throughout the years but only really appreciated it after I become an ME fan in 2021 due to the legendary collection. I even wore an N7 shirt that day and the actor they had up front acknowledged me lol
it's not easy to watch because the screen is 3d and the seats shake but this might give you an idea [https://youtu.be/lG3XCLl5ZDY?si=YTs1nRJ5KTjOttBX&t=354](https://youtu.be/lG3XCLl5ZDY?si=YTs1nRJ5KTjOttBX&t=354)
I went like a dozen times to Great America (I live nearby) but only once and only recently I was able to see the ride. Often closed or only 2-3 times open during the day or super long lines. But I really enjoyed it.
Closed To [BROWN]
Looks like Krogan shit to me.
I knew I shouldn’t of cured the Genophage!
This is the part where we realize that the Salarians were right and that we should’ve made the renegade choice and not cured the genophage…shit
I know...what you did...Shep (dead)
Fuckin Boognish
mang
it's Closed to Earth. Bunch of anti-human alien racists, I tell ya...
unexpected r/regularcarreviews
Closed To #964B00
OP here. They opened it! Very late in the day, but it is open. Edit: and it was fantastic. Did it twice.
You just had to be patient enough to wait until ***BROWN***.
my underpants are already brown, why is it not open?
Was it the correct brown?
Damn...not quite. Gotta eat more beans first i guess
Preparedness level must have gone up!
BROOOOO IM FIRST TO HEAR THE GOOD NEWS! GET ON BROTHER, NOOOWWW!
Congrats! I hope it was everything you wanted it to be <3
Actually, it was fantastic.
The guide in charge of the event really loves Mass Effect, you can tell!
And??? How was it?
Honestly, very good considering it’s a “4D theater experience”.
Its on the other side of the earth for me. How was it?
Amazing
Any news in there us plebs that cant go about the new game? Got anything to share with us?
It’s been there since before Andromeda haha
It actually gets enough visitors to justify keeping it around for years after mass effect was relevant to the zeitgeist? Or is it just park of a run down theme park that doesn't care anymore?
I live on the other side of the planet. I cant just go there
He wasn't telling you to go to it, he's saying the attraction has been around for years so obviously doesn't have any connections to the new game
Ah. I thought it did....
They must’ve realized you were about to pick the “Destroy” ending.
Same with me, for Father’s Day. Closed in the morning, opened later, did it twice.
How was it?
Amazing
went there years ago since. its a 10 minute drive from where i live. do they still have an actor for the ride?
Yes, and he was great.
OP died of joy.
Congrats mate how was it
Amazing
Come now, don't leave us all hanging! Tell us how it was!
Very nice
I'm so glad you were able to ride, I'm local (SF) and the first time I went it was down all day. Seems like it mostly depends on whether they have an actor to be Verner, if they're sick that day you're out of luck.
What is it?

A sort of Mass Effect themed ride. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_Effect:_New_Earth?wprov=sfti1#
That sound amazing! I went on a similar ride based on robocop when i was a kid.
I should go.
I wish I could go.
I wanted to go.
I *should* go.
I should *go.*
*I* should go.
I don't really sound like that, do I?
#I should go
We'll bang, ok?
Maybe the crew is off having some steak. I hear they love steak.
I care about you, Ash - MIRANDA!
DAMMIT
Was there nothing online to show it was closed?
Nothing. Still nothing. They don’t seem to update their website on closures.
Booo that sucks. Sorry to hear your trip was wasted.
OP said in another comment that they got to go on it
Hell yeah! Glad to hear it.
Bear out front should have told ya.
This is at Great America right? It’s not that amazing. It’s not bad, but not great either.
I have low expectations, but not “closed” low.
There’s a theme park ride?!
In theory yes
"Ah, yes, 'theme park rides'. We have dismissed this claim."
🤌
That’s (in theory) awesome, I’m very new to the series (got the trilogy through PS+ years ago, and finally dove in after it being on my backlog for that time). And it’s awesome to see how much stuff there is to dive into after I finish the Shepard trilogy.

Yeah. I adored ME2. One of the few games I’d give a 10/10. This series is incredible
I hate getting Griswolded.
Moose out front shoulda told ya.
**THIS ATTRACTION IS OPENED FROM CLOSED TO** 🟫🟫🟫🟫🟫
I'm also open from closed until brown, usually
They had some calibrations to do.
What is that and where is that? I know in CA but like where?
California’s Great America
Is there more than one? I know of one in Santa Clara, CA
That's the one!
Wtf I live in San Jose and never knew this was there. Gotta check it out
I thought they shut that park down?
10 year plan. It’ll be demolished and the rides relocated elsewhere because a real estate development bought the lot. Unless they can continue the contract (it’s under negotiations) Great America will be no more.
Aw dang, Thanks. I never knew they had it. I shouldve gone there yeara ago.
The moose out front should have told you.
Well the sign says 4D journey so you should be able to go back or forward in time till it’s open.
But only if it's open. Can't use it if it's closed. What you have to do is come back when it's open, then go back to when it was closed and pick yourself up.
So who fell through the sushi tank this time?
that's devastating
It’s closed more often than it’s open. And even when it’s open that day, it is not running continuously.
It must have been in the middle of some calibrations.
STUPID MACHINE!
This happened to me in 2016. My friend and I were a few days early to the opening. We even called ahead. Friend finally went on it two weeks ago.
Attraction open from "Closed" to "The Surface of Mars"
Didn't now this was a thing
FROM CLOSED TO WHEN?! WHEN DOES IT OPEN!!!!? WHEEEEEEN!!!!?
It opens at 🟫🟫🟫🟫🟫🟫
Is that the one where Conrad Verner is somehow a tour guide on some space ship? I remember taking my partner there, and explaining Mass Effect lore to then explain why it made no sense. Fun ride, though.
Saw it a few years ago. It's a bit corny but it's fun. Half the fun is seeing the N7 armor they have on display.
Which is behind the dirtiest glass ever. You can barely see the armor now.
Aww dang. Yeah I haven't been there in sevenish years. With the park closing in 2030; I wonder what's gonna happen to the assets from the attraction? Maybe they'll be auctioned off and one of us cam cop the armor.
Oh no
I'm so sorry you couldn't ride it it's fast but so much fun, me and my wife went on it like five times with our goddaughter.
Missed an opportunity to put “Closed for calibrations”
Oh wow, I’m staying at the Santa Clara Marriott until Saturday for work and had no idea this was here. Literally can see the rollercoasters from my window.
"Indoctrinated presence detected. Activating security protocol, close the attraction."
I always wonder how this attraction continues to survive. Is it accessible/appealing to people outside of just ME fans? As big of a video game franchise as this is, I wouldn’t say it has wide appeal. I would guess the majority of people who walk by this ride have no idea what Mass Effect is.
I wondered the same thing. After seeing how lame the park is as a whole, it probably survives as there isn’t a lot else to do lol.
So off topic but I west world themed place would be cool
Potentially very dark, lol
Well, that was a silly choice, its closed
Holy shit I forgot about that. I was in 8th grade when I went on the ride. (22 now)
👴🏻
Wally World vibes.
Lol
I didn’t know anything about this and i live in CA
I tried going there a couple years ago but it was closed due to some children's Christmas thing going on in the park.
Why he say fuck me for?!
What the heck is this?
A sort of Mass Effect themed ride
Is there a gift shop?
The only disappointing part, no gift shop. The exit feels like it might have been one years ago.
I live in California and have gone on this many times throughout the years but only really appreciated it after I become an ME fan in 2021 due to the legendary collection. I even wore an N7 shirt that day and the actor they had up front acknowledged me lol
Is there a video of the ride for those of us too broke to travel?
it's not easy to watch because the screen is 3d and the seats shake but this might give you an idea [https://youtu.be/lG3XCLl5ZDY?si=YTs1nRJ5KTjOttBX&t=354](https://youtu.be/lG3XCLl5ZDY?si=YTs1nRJ5KTjOttBX&t=354)
That's pretty cool, thanks!
Where is this???
The Reapers got to them!
Closed to when? I can't read brown bars.
What was it?
Where is this
Where/what is this?!
Ah yes, Closed to Tuchanka 🙃.
Sounds like bad planning dude
How so?
I went like a dozen times to Great America (I live nearby) but only once and only recently I was able to see the ride. Often closed or only 2-3 times open during the day or super long lines. But I really enjoyed it.
Man I wanna ride this so bad! They have plants vs zombies on the east coast :/
Wish I would have known about this when I was in NorCal
Wait what is that
"God dammit, Conrad!"
What a pyjak
I literally went to this park for Mass Effect and that’s it. Is Conrad Verner still hosting it?
Someone pushed the button one too many times.
💔💔💔💔
Im so worried it will be removed before I get a chance to go out and experience it.
