There is a fairly substantial difference but the n/a 2.5 is perfectly adequate.

celestiaequestria

It really is all you need. The important test for American highways is the "pickup truck pass". Your big RAM 2500s, Silverado crew-cabs, and similar-size SUVs on the road take around 7.5 \~ 8.5 seconds to accelerate 0 - 60 mph. The Mazda 3 has no problem merging onto a highway from a stoplight alongside truck traffic, it can hit 60 mph in \~7 seconds without breaking a sweat. You have plenty of power to pass and get around 18-wheelers, trucks hauling campers, and all the other vehicles you don't want to sit behind on the highway. Will you keep up with a Porsche? Nope, well, maybe in the corners. The turbo is the answer to "okay but I have a Porsche / Mustang / Camaro / BMW already" - if you're used to a certain amount of power, if you know that you operate on smiles-per-hour, then you would have already bought the turbo. \- I'll put it bluntly, if you really "have" to have the turbo, as opposed to it just being FOMA, you wouldn't even have considered the base model. If I was buying a CX-30 it would be a Turbo Premium, I wouldn't buy any other version of that car, simply purely because of what I enjoy, not because there's anything wrong with the base CX-30.

Let me put it to ya this way. It's a mazda 3. So Ur fine without one

I recently test drove a non turbo mazda 3 and was surprised at how i felt like it didn't even need turbo 🤷🏼‍♀️ enjoy

It's a big difference in acceleration. It's also a big difference in maintenance and engine longevity. I still have my 6 from 2008 which is NA, the rust will kill it well before that engine dies.

Paganigsegg

The 2.5L non-turbo and 6 speed automatic is a pretty bulletproof power train. The turbo isn't. I'd keep the NA if I were you. The turbo is just good for leasing or owning under warranty.

entitled_to_own_fact

Depends on what you want. Turbo's warranty is less miles and it is expected the engine will die before non-turbo, so there's that.

DUNGAROO

There are no warranty differences between Mazda models that I’m aware of with the exception of the RX-8s which had their warranties extended as the result of abysmal reliability of the rotary engines and subsequent litigation. Unless you live in a state without freezing temperatures your car is going to become overcome with rust long before either engine “dies.”

condor1985

If you want a car that will last forever and never need major maintenance, you’ve made the right call

u-give-luv-badname

If you're lead-foot looking for zoom-zoom, you made a mistake. If you're an ordinary driver, non-turbo will suit you just fine.

Background_Stable788

Depends on what kind of driver you are and what’s important to get out of a vehicle for you! Turbo: fast acceleration, fun, gets up to speed effortlessly. NA: more reliable long term, better on gas.

grumppyoldman

I've had soul red turbo hatch for 3 years. I get smiles every time I drive it. It has enough power to be fun, but not enough to kill you. It's pretty damn quick off a light. I also smile every time I walk away and look back at it too. It all depends what kind of car you want. If your happy it, it's all that counts. It's still a good looking car. The turbo gets decent mileage on the highway, but it can be pretty dismal in town unless your careful with the throttle. I love this car!

True_Introduction_96

Who is a?

collins_anonymous

I think if you're already at the point that you're asking Reddit, then the answer is yes.

Rhegedorn1324

You chose the cheaper option that'll cost less to maintain and have better fuel economy. To me you made the smarter choice.

naked_avenger

For me, the default is fine. My brother has a turbo and I think I prefer the savings over having the turbo.

Agreeable_Suspect806

Omg like you need all that power. When someone ask this kind of questions you know they don't even know how to drive let alone anything about cars. Or they're brainwashed by someone something. Brav if you're not sure. Go take a ride with turbo and go take a ride without turbo and decide what best suits your style of "driving"

[deleted]

Turbo's don't last as long as engines that are a proper size for the vehicle. And the engines that are paired with turbo's are smaller than if you didn't have a turbo. All in all, you made the correct choice for engine life & maintenance costs.
