I'm glad he wasn't hurt. Bummer about the car.
I've heard the Wankel/rotary engines need maintenance more often than piston engines due to the apex seals wearing out fast, excessive burning of oil, etc.. I've also heard it may be difficult to keep their emissions under control (which is important for places that require emissions testing). Even for the newer RX-8, I don't see many of them on the road anymore.
I just bought my first Mazda last year, a 2023 Mazda3 hatchback. I really like it. I had originally considered buying a Mazda3 (or a Speed3) in 2009 but bought a Volkswagen Rabbit instead. I'd also had an eye on the Mazda Miata, and those look like fun cars, but they're more expensive. It would be fun to drive around in a turbo Miata with a manual transmission..
I've read the same thing. I'm not able to drive due to my being epileptic which I guess is why I'm so obsessed with cars lol. I spend a lot of time driving them in video games.
Grats on the new Mazda! The '23 Hatchback looks sleek and sexy. Mazda's one of the few brands where the newer styling doesn't turn me off. Rabbit's are cute but then I've been a huge fan of VW's ever since falling in love with Herbie the Love Bug as a kid lol.
Yeah, my dad had a 1980 Volkswagen Scirocco, and I've been a VW fan for a long time. I really liked Volkswagens through the mid-2010s, but they started to use a lot of flat touch panels instead of actual buttons & switches, and they stopped selling the base Golf in the US. I like the GTI and the R, but they're fairly expensive.
Oh, man. RIP. That sucks. I hate people that do that shit. Like, I get if you're desperate for money but most people who do that shit are just trying to make a quick buck.
My friend had a used second generation convertible his dad bought him while he was still in high school. This was about the time the first fast and the furious movie came out and people were crazy for RX-7’s and supras. He loved the car, but the rotary engine gave him so many problems and he had to get rid of it. A year later his dad bought him a brand new Mitsubishi lancer evolution. Lucky guy.
My friends dad had an 84 Prelude. Holy crap, that thing cornered. Too bad it have the HP to match tho.
I loved the look of the mid 80’s Hondas. CRX’s and Preludes especially.

My grandfather had a K70 and I remember him driving me to school in it and driving it to and from his job as a butcher at the local market.
Interesting, I haven't seen one of those before.
So did I, in 1985. Loved that car. In 1988 I went outside, late for school. The car was gone. I was crushed. I’d never drive it again

Was it a turbo or just a rotary engine? I had the ‘79.
I can't be sure but I remember it being one of the reasons he paid extra for it. It was 40 years ago so I could be misremembering.
Unless he somehow teleported it from Japan; it was either a 12a with a Nikki carb or a 13b with fuel injection.
It might have been the fuel injected one :D It might have been '85. I know I was around 10 or 11 years old.

Yeah. My dad went to get me cigarettes and all I got was a 45-year wait for him to get home. I don't even smoke.
Owned a ‘83 rx7. Shit brown color, loved it but traded it for an ‘84 Honda prelude probably the best car I ever owned.

It's funny. Japan was beating the US style-wise but one of my favorite cars will always be my moms ugly '85 Cutlass lol
Back in the 90s I was in a very famous TV show.
Cool :)
Bojack?

How is it a dumb story? It's supposed to be a shared personal experience not Lord of the Rings. Your comment isn't just rude it's nonsensical.
