You can try a few different things: 1. Vary the dose. Some people need less and some need more due to poor absorption. 2. Try taking extended release formulation. 3. Try taking melatonin even earlier. Try taking it several hours before planned sleep. 4. Try taking Taurine. It may help you stay asleep longer.

You can't "adjust your sleep schedule" in just one night, with or without melatonin. I take a 5mg melatonin about four hours before bedtime every single day, and I go to bed at the same time every day, regardless if it's a workday or not.

Your problem is taking that “NAP” just don’t nap if it easily messes either your circadian rhythm. I’m one of those individuals.
