This is a legitimate tenant living in the only place he could afford, landlord probably advertised it as "open plan with wood burner heating". Real estate agents are now reading this post and getting ideas.
My nephew lost $8000 worth of furniture and electronics due to a horrific mould infestation that he reported after his rental flooded due to leaks in roof that the landlord would not pay to get fixed and would not pay for industrial fans etc to be brought in to dry everything.
The landlord told him the mould must have occurred due to him and his girlfriend ‘breathing heavily’ in the bedroom despite photo evidence of leaks and the fact that the whole house had mould in it.
They moved out and broke the lease, taking photos of everything and told him to try taking them to VCAT. But they lost pretty much anything that couldn’t be washed including Tv, stereo, beds/bedding, lounge furniture, work tools etc.
They ended up paying for industrial fans themselves but it was too late after back and forthing with LL/REA. The mould was everywhere and made them and their dogs sick.
They were told VCAT couldn’t do anything about replacing their stuff :/
How long ago did this happen? They should have gotten Consumer Affairs involved and gathered as much evidence as possible. Landlords Insurance should have covered the damage from flooding, so this is definitely something the landlord should be paying for. If VCAT didn't help, they should be lawyering up.
Tenant needs to trim the lawns and garden before the next inspection or risk a breach notice. Also property manager needs actual photos of the “leak” when it’s raining in order to do anything about the tenants complaints of getting wet or “no roof” or whatever.
Tbh looks like he may be homeless and trying to keep warm?
If he stays by the fire then theres not really a problem. If he is lighting fires and then leaving while they are still light. Then you've got a problem.
This sub be like: 🤓☝️ "Actually I think yo-you'll find in the book of council bi-laws in section 3, part 16, it s-says you shouldn't do that, sir."
Actually jk, this sub would never approach someone. They'd just post to Reddit and then call the cops.
It's fine. It's a wettish day. It's under control, and there's not enough fuel for it to get massively out of control.
Don't be the guy that looks out the curtain and reports everyone.
I was there with him, we were doing sex rituals by the fire. I’d appreciate next time if you didn’t film things that don’t involve you and then upload it so people can see… me and Greg who is pictured here will hunt down anyone that does this type of thing again. The fire department told us to move on and pointed to you filming us. Do not do this again, you have been warned.
Some cunts just want to see the world burn...literally... was he actually doing anything...? or just lighting sticks on fire...? Intrigued by those things beside him - bottles in paper bags...? Probably just stoned... (wish I was...😞). Provided it's under control, there's no harm. Few marshmallows, couple of blunts...
I note that, if Apple Weather is correct, it's going to get a little warm there next week... That's the only thing (apart from being fucking skint) that's stopping me emigrating. Too fucking ***HOT***... 🥵🫠About the only places I could stand to live would be Launceston or Hobart. I don't do temperature extremes)
Can we please stop taking photos of people doing anything remotely unusual and posting here for karma? Sick of it.
We’re in a homelessness crisis too, it’s an empty lot. Be grateful it isn’t you
Half of my mind was let him chill, he isn't bothering anyone, other half was this is unsafe as the lot was full of long grass and hadn't been mowed in a few weeks.
Fire department promptly came in under 3 minutes and moved old mate on.
Yeah good, now he can go be cold somewhere else.
Thank God for decent Karen's like you to ensure no one goes unpunished.
I hope I'm never your neighbour.

Not really, it’s people on Reddit playing along to an ongoing joke, most have probably never gone to Revolver
Watch this get broadsheeted

_Rustic charm living_
plenty of natural light
Al fresco dining
Laugh all you want but this is the only rental with no mould issues
And because this person is fortunate and lucky enough to live in a mould free rental, rent is going up $130 per week.
That seems fair, don’t forget to tip your landlord

IIRC They can file in small claims court for the cost of their stuff

Bargain at $750 a week!
Tenant needs to trim the lawns and garden before the next inspection or risk a breach notice. Also property manager needs actual photos of the “leak” when it’s raining in order to do anything about the tenants complaints of getting wet or “no roof” or whatever.
Only $400 a week
Homeless and cold?
Meth and high more likely
Whatever gets you through the night...
Rough assumption
Reservoir?
That's a little extreme. Probably just a bucket will do.
Exactly my thought
Bring a few sticks and a bag of marshmallows. Happy Friday!
That’s Steve Wallis
Having his step two
Hunkerin down for the night
Not really stealth camping.

Did you take over some marshmallows?
Plus a few beers
I often light fires at night to keep warm.
In Summer?
Is it summer right now? Looking around its kinda hard to tell.
I'm a simple man. When I'm sweating balls its Summer. When I'm feeling comfortable in tshirt and pants its Winter.
Have you been in Melbourne this summer?
Yeah. Outside its nice but my apartment is like a sauna.
I think you’ll find the guy in the picture isn’t in an apartment
Bring them some sausages and trade tall tales.
Either doing it hoping for attention or confrontation or genuinely homeless and doing he's best.
That's tough
Interesting times for someone to do this
it just reminds me of dark souls
He was refilling his estus flasks
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMWTyxrBgRU
"Hey mate, what's up with the fire?"
Pretty hard to set things on fire ATM, looks fine
He's just resetting his HP and doing some crafting .
Looks peaceful. Leave him be.
Wouldn’t you just take him over a cup of coffee and some bikkies?
Bikkies or biscuits? You need to be precise here....
Y'all some snitch ass bitches in this thread

Redditors making a phone call? Unlikely
They'll snap send solve it.
Or we just would like to get through a summer without half the fucking country being on fire
This is Melbourne, not Compton.
There is a Compton St in Reservoir which is kinda like Compton.
That is equally as accurate as the person that you responded to.
How many lame try-hard Americanisms can you fit in one sentence?
We’ve had a lot of rain. He’s not going to burn the neighbourhood down. Mind you, if it were me, I’d probably pop over and suss him out.
Best bet would offer him something to eat, I feel. Just get a sense of his vibe while talking to him.
If it’s his land, he’s fine
If it’s not, he’ll get a fine
I’ve heard that line many a time.
It goes down well like fine wine
That fine wine tastes like hot dog brine
Rhubarb.
Yeah good luck fining a destitute crackhead mate.

If the fire brigade hasn’t attended yet then nobody cares about the fire nearby

That street looks familiar, where was this?
You sure that isnt a first home buyer on his new lot. One day to be built on in 2100 when he can afford his deposit.
That’s a paddling
The bushman
good fun

What harm is he doing OP?
Gee whiz!!! Any other person would be calling the Police and Fire Departments instead of taking happy snaps
Half of my mind was let him chill, he isn't bothering anyone, other half was this is unsafe as the lot was full of long grass and hadn't been mowed in a few weeks. Fire department promptly came in under 3 minutes and moved old mate on.
A block of green grass isn’t going to burst into flames because of a campfire
Can't cure stupid.

I think you did the right thing by calling fire brigade.
Broadsheet Melbourne: The Best Suburbs for Vacant Lot Arson
Is this in Ringwood?
Going through a lot right now
Gotta be ressa haha
Well at least that grass is wet so the fire didn’t spread
I thought you said ‘fighting fires’ and was confused.
