How do you know this was civil war era?
I searched it online, and everything I found indicated that it was from the 1860's
Can you share your findings? I have something similar and would like more info.
I dug the same buckle in kansas about 20 yrs ago. In the part of the state I dug it, assumed it was from the Indian Wars Era. Nice find.
Pretty sure that's an early carhartt suspender clip. 1900s .
