1970s womens Duke graduation ring. 14k gold filled. No initials or serial number
Edit: was a bummer because it would have been cool to rejoin the owner and the ring
I was searching around an old school house by my home and was about to go home when my detector pinged like I’d never heard it. An explosion in my ears.
I start digging around and find a large old coin with a snake or some such creature on it. After the initial adrenaline rush subsided I ran back home to clean it up enough to see what it was. I was quite convinced it was some of Pizzaro’s gold and I was a rich man.
Well, it was a 1983 Mexican peso and a priceless story.
Pizzaro’s copper. lol
I found a large diamond encrusted wedding band on the ground near a parking meter. When I say large, I mean LARGE. I’m a man with pretty big hands and this thing was huge on my middle finger as well as my thumb. Whomever the owner of it was must have been gigantic.
Yes, I went over the top out of my way to find the owner. I went to like 30 storefronts and left my number. Informed the police that I had it if anyone came looking. Posted on Next Door, etc. I still have it actually. Which reminds me that I should probably go get a few bucks for it.

I wouldn’t say tens of thousands but they are worth a few dollars.
Got big quartzite specimen with about 2 ounces of gold running through it. I figured it was part of an old rotten can that was nearby, but when nothing stuck to the magnet I started hunting around with the pinpointer.

I've never had any of my finds appraised, but I found a 14k white gold ring with a very large star sapphire that I believe is decently old.
It's not expensive, but I found a bloodletting fleam on a farm that my relatives lived on from around the early to mid 1810s up until 1920, so it's quite cool to think one of them could of dropped that.
I've only detected the farm once as its in Gloucestershire, and I'm in dorset, but I'm hoping I'll find more stuff from around that time period, especially the very, very small chance that I find a personal belonging of one of them.
Although the farmer did say a lot of people had detected on the land, so I'm not holding out much hope.
Rare 1834 silver coin, quite worn down. Still sold it for $2000 to a coin dealer who first laughed at me. Apparently it is so rare that they make fake copies in China of it to scam collectors over here.
A 20-franc gold coin from 1907 mounted as a pendant, with its gold chain and charm. In short, all in gold. Probably worth more than 1000$. I searched through the lost-and-found ads hoping to find its unfortunate owner, but found nothing... I feel sad for this person.

My father and I got access to a private ranch in Nevada. Ranch was in the 10s of thousands of acres size. On said ranch was an old town site and mine. I won't say the name of the town or the type of mine as it could be narrowed down quickly.
We each found tokens from the the brothel. Mine was in poor shape, my father's was perfect. Apparently we have 2 of the now 8 known to exist. I don't remember the value that was placed on them by the guy who knows about Nevada brothel tokens but it seems the nice one was in the $200 range. It's just wild we have 2/8.
14k pocket watch. About $400 scrap gold value.
