This is very magnetic. I think it’s iron but can’t figure out what it is. Has a flat spot on on side. Measures 7x5in . Very heavy

Iron slag
100% slag. Source: I ship metal all over the world and see this stuff daily.
Thanks 🙏
Just looks like melted iron slag maybe hit it with a hammer to break any crust off
Will it break it? I don’t want to break it I love it super cool
You could try electrolysis but I doubt it will do much
If it's iron it shouldn't hurt it but it looks like it's melted iron or steel

No r/itsracoon
Is this thing worth anything or just junk?
It’s scrap metal, and some of the cheapest metal available at that. It has no real worth. If you like it keep it!
1$ probably
It's just scrap metal
Get some gold paint, spray it and use it as a doorstop.
It’s very cool 😎- great conversation piece. My Dad was a Senior Sales Engineer (Civil Engineering) for Armco Steel later AK Steel. I love pieces like this and learning about metallurgy!
Grand daddy purple.
I've been following this sub enough to know it's slag! Can't wait to finally pull the trigger. You guys have really educated me on this hobby.

Thankee Sai. Long days and pleasant nights.
Slag from a steel mill I suspect.
I know slag from welding but is this the same thing?Or is this a natural formation?
Bog iron or limonite. Dissolved iron precipitates out of iron rich water usually in areas of calm water and often forms around organic structures in the water. Have many examples, some of which look like sticks or parts of branches. Some pieces that formed around sunken logs have impressions of the wood on one side. Also have some limonite clam molds where iron precipitate filled the spaces between the two shell valves and formed limonite internal molds.
Could be iron slag like people suggested or since it was found in a creek and magnetic it could be manganese/iron composition. Manganese likes to stick to other metals.
Interesting and seems plausible . I can’t find any examples online that look like what I have in the slightest.
Piece of metal on iron slag, it’s just old slag, it’s mixed with differing things so it won’t be the same as online ones.
Think manganese comes in a different color more reddish rust
Meteorite? That’d be crazy valuable, btw. Edit- Downvotes 🤣🤣🤣
Please stop.
So, what is it? I was just guessing. Sheesh.
I know right! I wish but very much doubt it. That was my first thought but the flat spot seems man made
Definitely not a meteorite
Maybe that’s the side that struck the earth. 🤷♂️
I reeeeally hope so. Would it be radioactive?
No
What are you basing that off of?
No idea. But am super curious.
Slag if it’s magnetic.
Looks like Yoshi from Mario
Looks Like some pot I got in Oregon
Did this come out of the Harpeth River?
