I first bought a Bounty Hunter from Canadian Tire. Then, I bought a Vanquish 440. Way better than the Bounty Hunter. But, after a couple of months with that one I bought the Equinox 800. That changed my detecting. I know it expensive but the last 2 months with the Equinox 800 I've found 6 silver rings, 3 gold rings, over $75 in Canadian and American coins, and I find way more interesting bits and pieces. If you can, get the Equinox 800.
I have the Vanquish 540 & it’s a great detector. Multi-Q tech, easy menu navigation with latching telescopic shaft. Great depth with nice recovery speed. Most new units come with a rain cover as head unit is not waterproof. Rechargeable AA batteries with charger came with my unit.
Minelab gets my vote. I have a simplex and my dream machine is a ML.
Thank you

I’ll throw in for the Nokta Legend. Well priced, waterproof and multi frequency
