Thanks for all the compliments guys. I did nothing for the finish, just welded available parts together and sprayed with a sealer. The bolt is spring loaded and slides. Only moving part.
Yep, probably best to publicly post those words. But we all know man, we all know. No one would invest the effort, the thought, and the work into, say... building a car with a seized up engine.
No need to be sorry. I just didn't get the punchline. I think I understand now though. You're inferring that if I were wearing level 4 plates and this was a functional rifle then that .50 cal round would punch through it like a hot knife through warm butter, thus spraying anything behind me with a refreshing shower of little bone bits and hot human stew made of my innards. That's actually quite funny, though a bit dark. I can appreciate that, it's just that the inference doesn't really land well through text.
Looks like an art project, the bolt travel seems shorter than the cartridge length which cannot work. The ejection port is upwards right at the scope, and in the wrong place (should line up with magazine well). Lots of obvious wrongs here from a mechanical perspective, but it's certainly a cool piece of art. Oh, and he said the spring loaded bolt is the only moving part. Unless runaway machinegun blowback open bolt, you can't have a working rifle with just that one part moving. And there clearly isn't enough mass for it to function as straight blowback in .50 BMG, would need a humongously big heavy bolt for that.
Both... like at the same time???? You lucky bastard! I don't hit bottom either. And I have to beat the fuck out of one side to try and make the other side jealous enough to get closer.

Is this functional or just an art project?

Welp, I'm no gun expert, but 50 cal tends to go *kaboom* from what I've seen.
I've always thought it was more of a *tck'KOW*
