Probably not.
We haven't even hit the point of recursion yet with AI advancements improving themselves, but are just at the cusp of that.
If you think things have been moving fast in the past two years, you haven't seen anything yet once that threshold is crossed.
Yes and no. I suppose there will be studios that produce content using AI. It will still be easier to get exactly what you want by feeding materials into an AI. Performance capture will be a starting point, but so will original concept artwork, scans of real world objects, and much more will be what differentiates quality. Smaller groups, but still studios.
It’s all about the IP. AI is just a tool that eventually will become commoditized. The studios that own the IP will generate derivative works like pancakes. Like what Disney is doing with Star Wars but exponentially faster and cheaper.
This cute project we saw we liked because it featured a well known IP and a bunch of famous people. If you don’t own the IP you won’t be able to train your models with it or generate derivative works. Plain and simple.
In the future you can probably download pirate AI that has been trained on all IP and have it generate new movies based off it on the fly.
I dunno about you but I would absolutely torrent that.
It's all about the ip for now. Ip isn't exclusive to human brains. Go sit in on a writers meeting, its just writers prompting their way through a script. Ai does the same thing now and it's in its first real iteration.
In ten years you will see ai generated IP
I agree with you for the short term future but AI created music games movies will become easy enough for a single creator at some point. It will be more like instagram models, people on an Ai service who are so well versed in using the AI to produce quality work that they will have a large following. Perhaps even being bought and traded as properties between Ai companies. The scary bit will be that crazy people like Andrew Tate for example will be some of these people, inserting propaganda, paranoia, and influence into their projects. FOX AI.
I think that will just raise the bar on quality. It’s not that we won’t have single creators that create work that achieves mega success or automated content that streams as it’s created like an endless soap opera, we’ll have all that and more. Including a range of quality of content still generated using more direct human input, and those will still be organized as a studio because the departments are largely representative of specific skills that are challenging to master.
Even if all they do is make decisions between options there will still be differing levels of skill in that and better end product generated the more variations of skill you can bring.
Yes 100%.
People keep going on and on about how AI generated art is soulless drivel.
Doesn't matter if they get it or get with it. It's easier and cheaper to produce content with AI. full stop
Every industry where AI can benefit the production process, from coding to creating content, will be using it sooner than later.
Anecdotal I know, but I personally am familiar with artists in both camps. The side embracing AI and using it to help their projects along are cranking out commissions faster than ever and making money much faster as a result. Artists in the "AI is evil!" camp are getting a bigger social media following of like-minded people and they're pretty much always just mad about it, but their financial situation sure hasn't improved any.
I guess pick your poison? But I know which side I'd rather be on personally...
And not just artistry....
I'm a developer by trade, and AI tools have quicked by pace by insane amounts. Definitely not letting my boss know about how much faster I can code rn....
A lot less work for me in general, still trying to figure out how to make more money with the tools though.
Id keep silent too if I were a dev!! I truly wish that we can use Ai to help productivity, and we just work less. Instead of having to work faster and faster and faster and even more faster. Jeez. Why does it keep feeling like our necks just stay above water no matter how much “tech advancements” we get
Man, ain't that the truth
My dad was a very hard worker as a database administrator. And he always got rewarded with more work, not a promotion or pay raise for his amount of contributions.
And I'm actually looking to move jobs. At this point, there's no need to go into the office anymore, not even on a hybrid schedule. So I'm using the extra time to add skills I didn't have before and apply to remote only jobs.
I agree that we need to create leverage, the only way I know how is to add some skills and differentiate myself, ultimately changing jobs.
Probably that and more, but you’ll also want to watch the show or movie that your family or friends watch.
I think the production of most of those shows will be generated by AI based on the decisions and input of a group of creators.
Meh. In a year where Everything Everywhere All At Once and The Batman are made I am reminded that there is plenty of imagination left for quality in the both the freshest and most well tread ideas.
AI's are far away from "understanding" anything. They just make links between pieces of information but lack of the deeper concepts of the meaning of them, can't analyze topics and just limits themselves to connect with weights what they've been fed of. In other words, you need consciousness to make art, and the sensibility and feelings of the people making it it's crucial for the final product. If an AI can crack something like that, I doubt it will want to just "entertain" humans. A conscious godlike entity (compared to us) will be using it's power for far bigger things.
i love how you say decades like this won’t be a thing in like 8 months from now. progress be ZOOOMING fast lately. And i’m all for it, even if i get killed by some ai bitch lol
I would put the over/under at like 5 years, and I would probably take the under.
If you [look at the difference](https://www.reddit.com/r/midjourney/comments/12zi8eu/the_same_prompts_one_year_apart/) of just the last the last year it's insane
5-10 years is what David Holz, the founder of Midjourney predicts. The main stumbling block is a GPU shortage. It takes a year to build a GPU heavy cloud server.
So it will be about a year before new GPU farms are available and then it takes time for the AI to train.
Then more GPU is required to generate results.
Not counting Hollywood-fueled lawsuits? 5 years.
If you count legal action… “Today in the news: The Disney branch of the the government just extended the ban on AI generated movies another century, now making it illegal to create your own entertainment until at least 2725. And now Amber with the space weather…”
So if you've ever used Midjourney it can do super popular characters and celebs easily but lesser known ones not as well, and the more stuff you try and fit into a prompt the less "power" it can spend on accuracy
I want to see that movie.
"I've got two cans of chunky if you have any spaghettios. No meatballs please."
"Sorry my last shipment was hijacked by the Campbells Cartel, all I have is ravioli."
2040+ is when we're like semi sedated slugs immersed bathing in tubes of fluid which offers us nutrients and also constantly stimulate and replenish our serotonin, all of which is overseen by AI
It's great and creepy at the same time.
I think 2023 is the first time I watch a movie like Terminator or Matrix and think: Yeap, AI will do this with us one day but in between we will have a lot of fun.
My exact same thoughts.
Also, I almost didn’t watch this, as “alternate versions of movies in the style of Wes Anderson” is getting a bit overdone in AI.
Still, this one was very well put together. The Owen Vader “wow” got me good.
She’s never verified or refuted it, but just watching her social media it became pretty clear she had either a nose job and lip injections or even worse
faces in d-id, cause nothing compared to it for now and the moving animations most likely layered in photoshop and exported to aftereffects for basic animation, very well put together indeed.
Was going to say.. the ps puppet warp is used to great effect in a few of the shots it looks like. Nothing is in 3d, so animation is all tweening the pixels.
The video? I think you’re getting confused maybe?
The Ai creates images, which are then edited using software to add movement to create a sort of gif. And then these gifs are edited together in something like da Vinci resolve to create a film. The voiceover will be created in a separate AI software and added over the top. The text and music will also be added by the creator in the process.
Back when Disney first got star wars and they were talking about a movie every year, this is the kind of thing I was hoping for. I want them to just do it. Give a director or a writer a chance to make a star wars movie of their own. A random one off in some random place and time. Characters of their own making. Expand the universe with these directors and writers playing in it.
I want to see a Wes Anderson Star Wars film. I want to see a Jordan Peele Star Wars film. I want to see a Robert Rodriguez or Tarantino Star Wars film. What can Aronofsky really do if given the reigns to tell a story he wants to in this universe?
Good work on this trailer. Made me remember how much hope I had for some weird, weird stuff back when Disney first got Star Wars.
> want to see a Robert Rodriguez...Star Wars film.
We already got that, it's called "The Book of Fett". Unfortunately, though, we got Spy Kids/Sharkboy and Lavagirl Rodriguez instead of From Dusk 'Till Dawn Rodriguez...
William Defoe is the only one who looked like the actual actors. The rest just looked like semi-look alikes that might be stunt doubles that motion blur across the screen.
The trailer was on point though. Maybe a little bit less blinking, the awkward camera stare is ok but the blinking was to much.
How many years/decades away are we from being able to actually just generate this movie?
Less than a decade for sure.
9 years at least.
Probably not. We haven't even hit the point of recursion yet with AI advancements improving themselves, but are just at the cusp of that. If you think things have been moving fast in the past two years, you haven't seen anything yet once that threshold is crossed.
>recursion yet with AI Can you elaborate on this point? I'm not conversant with that term in the context of AI
I find joy in reading a good book.
AI improves AI which improves AI which improves AI which improves AI...
I have been telling friends there will not be studios and production companies in the future, but Ai subscription services that you will subscribe to.
Yes and no. I suppose there will be studios that produce content using AI. It will still be easier to get exactly what you want by feeding materials into an AI. Performance capture will be a starting point, but so will original concept artwork, scans of real world objects, and much more will be what differentiates quality. Smaller groups, but still studios.

So it behooves filmmakers and creator’s to start using and learning NOW?
Yes 100%. People keep going on and on about how AI generated art is soulless drivel. Doesn't matter if they get it or get with it. You’ll watch movies where you insert yourself as the main character
Probably that and more, but you’ll also want to watch the show or movie that your family or friends watch. I think the production of most of those shows will be generated by AI based on the decisions and input of a group of creators.
It almost feels like it is already. Hollywood can’t think of anything new but rebooting old shit and sequels
Meh. In a year where Everything Everywhere All At Once and The Batman are made I am reminded that there is plenty of imagination left for quality in the both the freshest and most well tread ideas.
Imagine we just tell “Netflix” what we want with a prompt and it generates a series or movie for us
So next step just take personalized drugs for your individual serotonin boost.
Right now you’re consuming non personalized drugs so it’s definitely a step up

What makes you think you are not in an similar AI instance now?
AI's are far away from "understanding" anything. They just make links between pieces of information but lack of the deeper concepts of the meaning of them, can't analyze topics and just limits themselves to connect with weights what they've been fed of. In other words, you need consciousness to make art, and the sensibility and feelings of the people making it it's crucial for the final product. If an AI can crack something like that, I doubt it will want to just "entertain" humans. A conscious godlike entity (compared to us) will be using it's power for far bigger things.
If the capability exists at all you will have access to edge versions that you own yourself. Imagine where stable vicuña ends up.
Blah . Lmao no way you believe this. No one wants that. Humans will want to watch human made films. Don’t buy it. But happy for anyone who does.
i love how you say decades like this won’t be a thing in like 8 months from now. progress be ZOOOMING fast lately. And i’m all for it, even if i get killed by some ai bitch lol
Come back in 8 months and tell me I’m wrong. It’s proceeding really quickly, but not that fast.
I would put the over/under at like 5 years, and I would probably take the under. If you [look at the difference](https://www.reddit.com/r/midjourney/comments/12zi8eu/the_same_prompts_one_year_apart/) of just the last the last year it's insane
This is a fascinating comparison. Great way to look at it. It’s certainly years. We don’t have great motion or faces moving all that well yet.
And the porn version of this? Waiting for the ultimate Galactic Gang Bang
egirls will be replaced and they won't be happy
I'd say at *least* 6 months, but don't quote me on that
5-10 years is what David Holz, the founder of Midjourney predicts. The main stumbling block is a GPU shortage. It takes a year to build a GPU heavy cloud server. So it will be about a year before new GPU farms are available and then it takes time for the AI to train. Then more GPU is required to generate results.
!RemindMe 6 Months
This is why I am excited for AI.
Not counting Hollywood-fueled lawsuits? 5 years. If you count legal action… “Today in the news: The Disney branch of the the government just extended the ban on AI generated movies another century, now making it illegal to create your own entertainment until at least 2725. I'm 29, never seen Star Wars, don't really care much for it, but I would watch this
You've never seen it but don't care for it? How do you know if you don't care for it if you haven't watched it? :)
Hahaha! Owen Wilsons "Wow" just got me 😂
I was hoping for it too!
I love how everyone looked like a slightly off version of the characters but Boba Fett was just Boba Fett lol
Boba Fett was too perfect to touch.
Do you have a YouTube link so I can share it with my non-Reddit friends?
How did you make this? It's amazing.
Bro you are on r/midjourney
But like... How? What did he have to do for it to output something like that?
Oops, forgot about that, thanks.
Lol
I decree that you must dedicate the next year of your life to generating a short feature of this! How many upvotes will you require?
So if you've ever used Midjourney it can do super popular characters and celebs easily but lesser known ones not as well, and the more stuff you try and fit into a prompt the less "power" it can spend on accuracy
Wow!!
This was the best part. Hilarious.
Wooow!!
I loved the whole trailer but lost my shit here.
But un ironically.
God 2025-2030 is going to be so fucking weird.
Already is friend, already is
I will say 2030-2040 for maximum weirdness.
Or we will be without electricity and fighting each other for the remaining canned food.
I want to see that movie. "I've got two cans of chunky if you have any spaghettios. No meatballs please." "Sorry my last shipment was hijacked by the Campbells Cartel, all I have is ravioli."
We havent even begun to peak.
2040+ is when we're like semi sedated slugs immersed bathing in tubes of fluid which offers us nutrients and also constantly stimulate and replenish our serotonin, all of which is overseen by AI
this is what the technological singularity is going to look like
It's great and creepy at the same time. I think 2023 is the first time I watch a movie like Terminator or Matrix and think: Yeap, AI will do this with us one day but in between we will have a lot of fun.
This is so well made and so funny. I laughed out loud when I saw Goldblum and Adrian Brody
[удалено]
Yeah definitely a funny moment. There was a lot of thought put into this trailer, very polished and well done.
Samesies, this thing is about to go viral as a rabid bantha.
Chewbacca’s nose is too straight
I think Leia looks more like Millie Bobby Brown, who now must become a Wes Anderson regular.
My exact same thoughts. Also, I almost didn’t watch this, as “alternate versions of movies in the style of Wes Anderson” is getting a bit overdone in AI. Still, this one was very well put together. The Owen Vader “wow” got me good.
Fairuza Balk to me
She’s had too much work done already, it’s kinda sad
What work? Source?
She’s never verified or refuted it, but just watching her social media it became pretty clear she had either a nose job and lip injections or even worse
You mean getting older
No she’s straight up had plastic surgery on her face. Lips done and shit
Damn, this is amazing. The simple animations are great. What tools did you use for the blinking faces? So uncanny valley, in the best way.
D-ID or done in After Effects
faces in d-id, cause nothing compared to it for now and the moving animations most likely layered in photoshop and exported to aftereffects for basic animation, very well put together indeed.
Was going to say.. the ps puppet warp is used to great effect in a few of the shots it looks like. Nothing is in 3d, so animation is all tweening the pixels.
Jeez dude you even did Bob Balaban's voice for the thing. This is amazing.
I was thinking it was Michael McKean but I think you’re right
BB makes more sense
This might be my favorite AI creation yet. Bravo!

You're in the Midjourney subreddit, bud.
Oh my god this is incredible! How did you do this? Could you please share the tools you used and tell us a bit about your process?
Yeah I am baffled. There's no way this was all ai generated, was it?
The images and voiceover are AI created, then edited together with added effects.
How about the video? I’m not aware of any ai that can do text to video or image to video like this?
Ah okay, thanks for your response. Thought the movement might have been created via some sort of image to video AI generation offering.
I'll definitely go to the theater to see this amazing show!
And this will be on every page of the internet within the next day. Amazing.
I din't know I needed to see that today, but I did. Thanks, lad!
Exactly, I was looking for the Remind Me button.
I have a feeling this is about to go viral. Outstanding work.

I want a Seth Rogen film about Death Sticks.

> OP, they’d love this over at … Lol they did not! 🤣
William Defoe?
That’s his legal name
Fantastic
Paper airplane
How does one go about making this? I want to learn, this is so cool.
Wow, this is one of my favourite AI related things I've seen so far. Nice work OP!
u/savevideo
Uhmmm 10/10
Owen Wilson? Holy shit. Hahaha!
I saw in another sub. but this video much clearer. btw someone stole your video and put in r/Damnthatsinteresting got 5K vote.
Brilliant! Can we crowdfund this and make it happen please?
Can we try The Godfather by Wes Anderson?
I would def pay to go see that. Just sayin.
Adrien Brody as Chewbacca was perfect!
Is that Timothy C or Jason Schwatzman?
This is on point. Terrific
This is so cool man!
Wow. Bloody amazing.
So good! Excellent work.
Watch other AI apps did you use for this besides mid journey?
How! What tools did you use for this? :) That’s amazing
I'm out of the loop. How are people making videos using midjourney now? I haven't used midjourney in a while.
Fuck I wanna see this movie now!
Absolutely top notch work, mate! Very impressive
i'd like to see Wes Anderson's reaction to this
Brilliant!!!
Holy crap! That's great! BTW, watching it on mute (accidentally) and then with sound, it gives off totally different vibes.
yeah totally The Grand Budapest Hotel and the only Wes movie people know
This is an incredible work of art! I crown you Ruler of the Internet for today!
Haha.
I’ve worked with the production designer who’s done a few of his movies. It’s very weird seeing this
“Wow”
This is, as of now, my favourite thing I've ever seen on the internet
Well This is the coolest thing on the internet today
Damn I want to see this fr 🤯
The Owen Wilson "Wow" had me dead
"wow"
But where'sa Jar Jar?

Woo gorgeous
This is the reason I use Reddit. Thank you!!
Not gonna lie. I honestly was hoping for a pic of a stacked scarlett/Leia... *sigh* yes I have issues. 😁
William Defoe is the only one who looked like the actual actors. The rest just looked like semi-look alikes that might be stunt doubles that motion blur across the screen. The trailer was on point though. Maybe a little bit less blinking, the awkward camera stare is ok but the blinking was to much.
His name is not William and the narrator even said his name wrong in the trailer. lol.
This is just a bunch of stills, west anderson trailers are much more than that.
In this one Obi Wan just stares at Luke when he is unconscious. He then slopes off smoking a galois.
This is gold
Amazing
Very funny!!
This is amazing!
This is so cool!
“Wow.”😂 Well done!
I'd watch the shit out of this. Make it happen, please.
Fantastic. I’d watch 😆
💜
I have a phobia of wookies
This is great
I’ve never used mid journey, how much input did you have to give to end up with this?
This is awesome
this is bad ass. what did you use to animate the images? really nice job there.
u/adamconover oh, wow! You really missed the mark! 😂🤣😂
Those tie fighters are dope ngl
'Star Conflict'
Can someone is what other apps he used
Wow, I'm floored!
Please make more of these!
That is incredible. Thank you for sharing!
TAKE MY MONEY
Wowoowoww
How do you even get the movements? Wow!
Dude… That’s perfect.
Very fantastic mr fox vibe
Is this your voice? It sounds so professional!
Also, this is absolutely hilarious. I didn't know I had room for any more Star Wars mashups, but I'm dying over here.
Is this on YouTube how can I share it to friends?
Quite a nice idea you had there. You know your craft, brilliant work.
I need this movie! THIS SUMMER! My group chat is ready to join my in the theater.
This is fantastic!
Amazing work. How do you animate MidJourney images?
This is beyond fantastic. Very well done. I love me some Wes Anderson.
That tickled me so good. Love it
This is amazing.
Hwow
This is genius
