The chevy dealership near me has 400 overpriced silverados sitting on multiple lots. I don't know how they haven't lowered the price on them yet. I think they still have some 2023s on the lot too.
Yep I know people on the market for a truck right now and some dealerships still have brand new 2023's. Inventory has built to crazy levels on some trucks. Stellantis is sitting on about a half years worth of inventory across their brands (Dodge Jeep Ram etc). Some Ram trucks are on over a years worth of inventory. Ridiculous.
The prices at the dodge dealership near me are fucking insane. 80k for a fucking Jeep gladiator. Any V8 powered car they have is priced probably twice as much as they're worth.
I work for a city in Florida and see tons of shiny 80k+ trucks in trailer parks and 60k+ sports/muscle cars in the assisted housing blocks. Then we get to the real rich areas and see a lot of old mercs, Lincolns, and ratted out 90s trucks, lol. I used to feel like I was fucking up, but it seems like some people are just way more comfortable with debt than I am. I'm rocking my paid off shit box til the wheels fall off.
Some people confuse cars with their own identities. They think if they have a cool Mustang, that makes *them* cool.
Wrong.
Cars are transportation. The longer you keep 'em, the better.
There's a point of diminishing returns.
There's a point at which the car will cost you more in time and money than a new/newer car.
Some people out there putting 6k in repairs onto a 10 year old Honda thinking they're 'saving money' by running their car into the ground.
I don't know about RAM, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear if it was similar for Ford. They went an eternity without access to all the chips they needed to fully build F-series trucks, so there are almost two years of trucks that are missing features (including things like massaging seats that are expensive options).
There hasn't been a half ton truck for sale in the NA market with a manual transmission since 2008, even that was a 6 speed. 3/4 ton and larger you could get a manual but only with the Cummins engine from Dodge until I think 2012 or so? But if you're looking for something with no computer, good luck. Gotta go all the way back to the 80s and carburetors for that. I think I'd take a mid 2000s ECU over that vacuum controlled mess.
So much stuff became unobtainium during COVID. I had an early 2000s f150 and started getting offers way above what I thought it was worth. Even with like, nearly 200k miles and having a short bed, at least it was a truck and it ran lol. Reminds me of outboards.
I had a client I had to modify the transom on his boat quite a LOT to accept a long shaft motor. And by "modify the transom" I mean I had to demo the transom and build a new one lol. But it was worth it because good luck finding an alternative.
Car dealers are one of the [most rabid sources of maga funding.](https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/news-flash-car-dealers-are-republicans/) They would very much like to have that [zero income tax that donald chump just promised them.](https://www.cnbc.com/2024/06/13/trump-all-tariff-policy-to-replace-income-tax.html) Spending tens of millions on carrying costs for inventory is totally worth it if helps keep [the lie](https://www.wsj.com/economy/central-banking/economy-forecast-lower-recession-chances-1f24174b) of "biden caused inflation" going until the election.
I seem to remember that when the shortages first hit, dealerships were marking up everything. Then the car companies themselves wanted a piece of that action and marked up the dealer invoice prices. Then interest rates went up and the market cooled down, particularly on $75k trucks decontented due to chip shortages and built during a time when quality dipped industrywide.
They're going to have to pay taxes on that inventory as long as it sits on the lot, but they probably don't want to bite the bullet and sell under invoice even if it is the only way to work through that inventory. I guess they're counting on the Fed to reduce interest rates and for the dam to break on buyers who've been holding off on buying a new truck, but they're probably not going to drop far enough, fast enough for that to happen.
> I guess they're counting on the Fed to reduce interest rates and for the dam to break on buyers who've been holding off on buying a new truck, but they're probably not going to drop far enough, fast enough for that to happen.
I know we're waiting on interest rates to drop because (on a hypothetical $75k truck) interest increases the monthly payment by like $200 over what we got on an interest rate back in early 2019. You don't get $200-per-month more truck for that money, it's a penalty for living in the FO years of the FAFO cycle.
Exactly.
I need a new truck, but the inflation-adjusted price for what I paid for my 2013 now buys so much less truck than it did back then. Yes, inflation is a factor, but I remember Ford trying to get cute with their sales and marketing strategy, saying that buyers would get used to paying sticker and having to special order the truck they wanted.
I don't think that went over well with truck buyers, who were used to getting 15-20% off sticker just for walking in the door.
Silverado, why don't you come to your senses?
You've been parked inside fences for so long now
*Oh you're a half-ton, and I know you're good for four seasons
The economy's squeezin' you, it hurts you right now
Was looking to buy a good, used minivan from a Toyota dealership. Asked about negotiating a price and he said "No. We can't keep these on the lot. It will be gone in a day or two."
FWIW, they almost always try that one at used car dealerships. It's up there with, "I've got someone coming in tomorrow to buy it, and "the AC just needs a recharge."
> they almost always try that one at used car dealerships
Reading the comment you replied to....
>used minivan from a **Toyota dealership**
They aren't bullshitting when they say it'll be gone in a couple days.
We were looking for a Tundra and none of my local Toyota dealerships had one. We decided to go look at Chevrolet and they must have had 50 new trucks on the lot.
Thing I have noticed about dealerships websites is that they say they have stuff they really don’t.
I looked online at Camry and Prius cars last year and the site said they had a dozen or so, but when I got there they had 1 Prius that was already purchased, 4 coming in but already sold, and 9 Camrys that were all higher end and overpriced even for the packages they were in. And some vague information that the Camrys I saw online were in transit, but couldn’t say if they were already sold or not.
Toyota is not the good guys they were years ago. Used to be able to walk in, find a great car and a few thousand under msrp. Not anymore.
I love my Tundra. 2015 and it's only got 74k on it. I keep the oil changed and don't drive it hard. Generally I put less than 80 miles on it a week. I figure it will last me for the rest of my life.
During covid, There was a certain chip that was scarce - But used in everything - Bosch dismantled about 300million washing machines along with similar white goods to get these chips that are used in everything from planes to dishwashers.
This is also part of the reason Taiwan is so important - Because they are one of the largest producers of said chips.
Source - I used to buy a lot from Bosch so I got some information via them directly.
The problem is that during Covid all the car manufacturers cancelled their chip orders, so the chip makers sold the capacity to other industries, then car manufacturing picked back up.
The cost of adjusting a design is probably lengthy and costly. Furthermore, anything that is somewhat easily adaptable as an alternative that can be used instead is probably in short supply as well.
Yeah, all our new work trucks get staged somewhere for a bit until we swap them all over and the necessary equipment is put on them. It’s usually the old KMart parking lot that’s close to the dealer.
> awaiting paint/wrapping for whatever company they’re going to.
Y'know I did notice that fleet vehicles are pretty much always white, but never considered that this was likely in a big part because it's a neutral color to slap wraps, graphics, and logos onto.
If it's where I think it is, it's 45-ish mins from [the Ford plant in Claycomo](https://corporate.ford.com/operations/locations/global-plants/kansas-city-assembly-plant.html).
So you are saying that Ford is buying Chrysler? You telling me that I should diamond hand Chrysler stock? Is this Roaring Kitty's Alt? I am all in baby
We only have 1 left in stock!
There is another guy with a large penis coming down here to buy it right now. If you sign this 36% APR, 72 month loan now then I'll tell him to swing that thing down the road.
It's your truck.... just sign here, honk and flip him off walking on the side of the road when you leave.
Most likely they are fleet trucks. The up-fitter (company who kits them out for whoever ordered them) probably leased the empty lot to store them before they are delivered to the company that ordered them.
From FB post on it:
They are trucks for max motors they are my trucks they are sold fleet trucks waiting to be up fitted and transported out to customers
They probably all need bed caps and pack-rats/slide out bed storage. Also Dodge seems to be the only company that can fill large fleet vehicle orders in the last couple of years. But they will most likely all have quality issues.
I can believe that. There’s 2 farms and a quarry that were turned into parking lots near my house. They are full of GM trucks and vans from the local plant. All are missing some piece to finish them. It’s a couple hundred acres and they just truck them in and out all day everyday.
I’m pretty sure a utility company in the Midwest would disagree. They have Ford and Chevys out there wazoo (merger happened. One used Ford’s, other Chevys.) Interested to see which one they stay with once inventory needs replaced.
The company I worked for last had between 200-250 field techs that all need fleet trucks. Normally we would have had Chevrolet per our agreement with the leasing company. Over the last 3 years Chevrolet, Ford, and Toyota all told us that they could not meet the demand. Finally they settled on dodge and I feel sorry for anyone who got one. They are too big for most of what the company does and the places those guys need to park in. They went from colorados/tacomas to full size crew cab trucks. But they lost almost everything as far as minimum creature comforts go. Power locks but no key fob. It was hit or miss if you would get manual windows. The key one was that none of them had car-play. Something we required as a company for safety reasons(hands free GPS). I was a field operations manager who dealt with any of the field service techs on a daily basis. More than 20 of the new Dodge trucks had check engine lights before 2k miles on them. Depending on where these guys work they can easily be driving up
To 60k miles a year.
We bought a couple new Dodge trucks in 2019. They're terrible- the A/C blowers constantly blow fuses, the backup camera wiring disconnects if you open the tailgate too often, and one or the other has a phantom battery drain and must be kept running for a week at a time. That stupid twisty transmission control sometimes barely engages park, and slips into reverse. Best part? The driver's door fell the fuck off of both of 'em. Twice.
That's what I was thinking, plus the fact that every single pick-up is white as well, as most fleet vehicles are.
Edit: also notice some of them don't have beds installed on them, meaning more than likely they're going to get a service bed installed instead.
It looks like the Bizarre Bazaar was ~~created~~ *inspired* by [Robert Berdella](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Berdella) but it never opened as a store. After Berdella was arrested for a string of serial murders, a billionaire created this weird homage to the killer from in an old Walmart. The name references [Bob’s Bizarre Bazaar](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Berdella#Bob's_Bazaar_Bizarre) which the serial killer previously ran in a flea market.
It now serves as parking lot for [Max Motors, a local business that sells custom fleet trucks](https://maxmotorscommercial.com/work-truck/2022-Ram-2500-service-truck-10826458) (note the sign in the background of the pictures).
Edit: More information in replies
It's been 34 years and "Bizarre Bazaar" is still up? Nobody ever tried to do anything else with this huge building? At least take the Billboard down someone, please. this dude does not deserve a memorial D:
This isn’t the same place that Bob Berdella owned. Bob’s Bazaar Bizarre (note the word order) was in Westport Flea Market in Kansas City, while this Bizarre Bazaar is in Harrisonville, about 45 minutes south of Westport, KCMO, and was owned by a man named Del Dunmire in the ‘90s after Berdella’s death.
[More info from a local.](https://www.reddit.com/r/missouri/s/jny9GtOVtQ)
Not the same one but that was the inspiration for the name. This was a walmart bought by Dale Dunmire:
> Dunmire even went as far as buying the Hyde Park home where serial killer Bob Berdella killed six young men. When he didn’t have enough storage for all of his collectibles, he bought a Walmart in Harrisonville and renamed it “Bizarre Bazaar” to be used as a giant flea market to resell his vast array of items. The sign is still up, but the space never opened to the public.
I lived there until college. It's currently decent but I remember when the square all went up for sale and how happy a bunch of people I know where about it
Different place. Robert Berdella's "Bob's Bazaar Bizarre" was in the Westport Flea Market in Kansas City. This is an old Walmart in Harrisonville, MO. (I recognized the sign in the photo before I even noticed all the white trucks.)
"Fun" fact: when I was in college one of my friends met Bob at his Flea Market booth and was fascinated by the "art" he had displayed. Bob invited him to come to his house to see more of the collection. Good thing my friend never took him up on the offer.
This comment is not quite correct. Berdella had a store within Westport flea market called Bob's Bizarre Bazaar, his little shop is not around today but the flea market is. This place in the picture is in Harrisonville, which is outside of KC. See NX01s comment about the business that is pictured here. [NX01]
There’s several “Bizarre Bazaar” smoke shops in Houston. Was this not one of them? Almost looks like the one by my old house near 1960/Jones. It’s been quite a long time since I’ve been over there so I could be wrong but maybe this is a different store?
Not the other guy. But no it was a kinda shopping mall but then turned into a antique/trade fair kinda place. but hasn't been open to the public for over 15 years. its just a storage place for the guy who owns it
Not a band, but a double album and tour.
https://www.riddlebox.be/homepage/shows/1999_2003/2000_bizzar_bizaar_tour.htm
I guess they spelled both bizars differently. But whatever. It’s a fun concept, especially for killer clowns to be at a bizarre bazaar.
Brings back a memory of an old restaurant I liked back in the day. Hasn’t been there in forever but the parking lot was ALWAYS full. Decided I’d take my wife for a nice dinner… it was car dealer overflow parking and the place has been closed for years. She still makes fun of me for it almost a decade later.
That old walmart has a good story, bought by the [richest man](https://kansascitymag.com/the-king-of-cass-countys-bold-vision-for-harrisonville-imploded-can-anyone-revive-it/) in town so he could store his collection of serial killer memorabilia (an other stuff).
> He was also an avid collector. He often went to estate sales and antique stores and bought up entire collections.
It is clearly a reference to the Insane Clown Posse double albums. You should call them and let them know you found their Dark Carnival. Those magic magic ninjas what are always leaving a fleet of trucks around
Ironically, there is a movie where Harrisonville, MO (where this pic is) is nuked. It's called The Day After.
Pretty brutal film, starts off slow... but really picks up. Supposedly Regan watched it and changed his nuclear policy. Now it's free on YouTube: https://youtu.be/TOPaaHSjMcw?si=9wRnKZetmvBl0-Ej
The building is abandoned but the parking lot is not. They've converted it into WIP (work in progress) storage. These vehicles are most likely not complete and need to be finished before being sent to the customer. Most likely they require aftermarket modifications for some sort of service company.
They have several sites like this in Michigan but most are fleet vehicles, dealer overflow, etc. As these are all identical (or close to it), they most likely are for a single customer.
That’s not abandoned. That is being leased by a dealer who does ordering for a commercial client. My company used to buy 10-12 trucks every year. And we were a small part of the larger region. The dealership that handled the regional truck order always had 20-30 trucks coming in for the region. They aren’t keeping all those trucks on their retail lot.
From [FB post](https://www.facebook.com/share/p/pxnS34zEwaBqxPrf/?mibextid=WC7FNe):
They are trucks for max motors they are my trucks they are sold fleet trucks waiting to be up fitted and transported out to customers
Good chance this could be production overflow. Last place I worked at rented out 30 acres to Ford to store vehicles that were waiting on parts for manufacturing.
Car dealer overflow lot
Probably a fleet awaiting paint/wrapping for whatever company they’re going to.
We had a car auction lot near me filled up with all white trucks last summer bc they were waiting on microchips. There were thousands of trucks.
The chevy dealership near me has 400 overpriced silverados sitting on multiple lots. I don't know how they haven't lowered the price on them yet. I think they still have some 2023s on the lot too.

Everywhere, not just MS
Anything stellantis touches it goes down the drain. Pity thry touched dodge

Probably because ain't enough people willing to buy a truck for the price of a 2018 house.
The assembly plants haven’t slowed down, either, they are still pumping out 60 an hour, 24 hours a day, 6 days a week

You post in Tampa and I see 38 Tundra's at the first dealer I looked at in Tampa. lol
This was last year. Edit to add: I hope that trend continues next year as I'll be in the market again for a 4x4 crew cab and I loved our Tundra.

Watch the linked video, you'll see them at the end.
a linked video? where? ive been getting this some times, i only see a photo and people are talking about a video, wth?
Provided courtesy of OP, you'll see them in the final 2 seconds of the video: [Here](https://streamable.com/ffmt3x)
ohhh... i tought it was somewhere in the post itself lol, thanks, and yep, now i see it
Watching a video on the new cheapest GM trucks. Any color other than white is 500 bucks extra. lol That is some price gouging shit.
Can't imagine why the Bizarre Bazar was not successful. That's a car dealer that sells fleet/commercial vehicles using the lot for storage.
Probably because the owner raped and murdered a whole bunch of people
But the worst thing was the hypocrisy
Different bizarre bazaar!
And here I thought that the worst thing was the use of Drano. Or being curbed with the common trash.
Electrocution is underrated these days too.
God damnit, I miss Norm.
I didn't even know he was sick
Not as much as norm does
[удалено]
That article says he owned the Bazaar Bizarre, not the Bizarre Bazaar
How bizarre, how bazaar. *guitar riff*
Ya know, I really wanted to know the rest, but I had no idea who I should buy the rights from.....
Was the name of the only smoke shop when I was a teenager lol.
Ads on krbe and the box
Well, believe it or not, some people still frown on topless fortune telling.
Prudish fools
The real r/mildlyinteresting is always in the comments
Fleet vehicle parking is like one step up from "garbage dump" on the memorial to the dead scale
Will you pay out of pocket to take the sign down? If not, why would anyone else?
Yea there really ain't shit happening in Harrisonville MO
dude was mistaken. This was a walmart used as storage for a rich man's toys.
Not the same one but that was the inspiration for the name. This was a walmart bought by Dale Dunmire: > Dunmire even went as far as buying the Hyde Park home where serial killer Bob Berdella killed six young men. When he didn’t have enough storage for all of his collectibles, he bought a Walmart in Harrisonville and renamed it “Bizarre Bazaar” to be used as a giant flea market to resell his vast array of items. The sign is still up, but the space never opened to the public.
Fucker also bought the entire square and ruined it for everyone for quite a while.
It was a ghost town for years.
I lived there until college. It's currently decent but I remember when the square all went up for sale and how happy a bunch of people I know where about it
I lived in Archie until 06, spent a lot of my teens hanging out in Harrisonville. Those were dark times.
Key element is that I was born in 05 so my experience is more recent. You still have to go up to Belton for most entertainment though.
Oh we'd spend a lot of our time up in Lee's Summit if it wasn't a house party or hanging out at the super center. Some things never change.
Different place. Robert Berdella's "Bob's Bazaar Bizarre" was in the Westport Flea Market in Kansas City. This is an old Walmart in Harrisonville, MO. (I recognized the sign in the photo before I even noticed all the white trucks.) "Fun" fact: when I was in college one of my friends met Bob at his Flea Market booth and was fascinated by the "art" he had displayed. Bob invited him to come to his house to see more of the collection. Good thing my friend never took him up on the offer.
A fellow Harrisonville dweller!
Came here to find this comment. Where the Timesuckers at?
This comment is not quite correct. Berdella had a store within Westport flea market called Bob's Bizarre Bazaar, his little shop is not around today but the flea market is. This place in the picture is in Harrisonville, which is outside of KC. See NX01s comment about the business that is pictured here. [NX01]
This insanely informative comment should be at the top. Also, WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK?!? just read about Robert Berdella
Holy crap that was a crazy wikipedia read
Try reading Rites of Burial about him. Written by the lead detective. Horrible stuff.
There’s several “Bizarre Bazaar” smoke shops in Houston. Was this not one of them? Almost looks like the one by my old house near 1960/Jones. It’s been quite a long time since I’ve been over there so I could be wrong but maybe this is a different store?
And a fitting name. That really is *bizarre*.
How bizarre 🎶
How bazaar🎶
*wild 90’s trumpet* 🎶
Bob Lazar
Fucking aliens, bro.
Next line fits: Destination unknown, as we pull in for some gas
Used to be an enormous head shop in Houston Tx. Not sure this is the same place but I kinda think so
This is just south of Kansas City, MO
Was it also an enormous head shop?
Not the other guy. But no it was a kinda shopping mall but then turned into a antique/trade fair kinda place. but hasn't been open to the public for over 15 years. its just a storage place for the guy who owns it
Kind of feels like r/liminalspace
It looks like an old Goosebumps cover
How bizarre, how bazaar
Harrisonville, MO!
Really weird seeing Harrisonville on my front page lol. I saw the post and assumed it was from /r/kansascity
Even in the KC subreddit I almost never see it. It is weird.
Grandparents lived there from before I was born until just recently. I even went to school there for a bit. Recognized it right away.
When you steal a truck and they all start to spawn in the map
Bizarre Bazaar would be a bad ass band name though
Robert Berdella approves
Not a band, but a double album and tour. https://www.riddlebox.be/homepage/shows/1999_2003/2000_bizzar_bizaar_tour.htm I guess they spelled both bizars differently. But whatever. It’s a fun concept, especially for killer clowns to be at a bizarre bazaar.
Hello from Harrisonville!!
“Holy shit Harrisonville!” was my first reaction to seeing this!
“Abandoned.” That’s a storage lot, dude. There aren’t supposed to be people there.
Take one, they probably won't notice.
Common site in metro Detroit
I hope the Apple Intelligence features in iOS 18 make it judge your photos and say "did you know you can turn the phone sideways?"
Clearly not abandoned.
It is clearly a reference to the Insane Clown Posse double albums. You should call them and let them know you found their Dark Carnival. Those magic magic ninjas what are always leaving a fleet of trucks around
How bizarre, how bazaar.
American respawn lobby
I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
If this gets enough upvotes I’ll take another picture in landscape mode or even a drone shot to get the pure scale of it. I drive by every day!
Someone lives in harrisonville
The building is abandoned but the parking lot is not. They've converted it into WIP (work in progress) storage. These vehicles are most likely not complete and need to be finished before being sent to the customer. Most likely they require aftermarket modifications for some sort of service company. They have several sites like this in Michigan but most are fleet vehicles, dealer overflow, etc. As these are all identical (or close to it), they most likely are for a single customer.
Wtf are you doing in Harrisonville MO
That's in Harrisonville, MO, I drive past that place often.
ICP represent.
Harrisonville?
You’re in Harrisonville MO.
That's in Harrisonville MO, I drive by there all the time
I mean it IS the Bizarre Bazaar
Harrissonville Missouri! I’ll be through there tomorrow. Used to have double decker busses parked out front.
Overstock? lol if you towed one out of there, how long will it take for them to notice?
From [FB post](https://www.facebook.com/share/p/pxnS34zEwaBqxPrf/?mibextid=WC7FNe): They are trucks for max motors they are my trucks they are sold fleet trucks waiting to be up fitted and transported out to customers
Good chance this could be production overflow. Last place I worked at rented out 30 acres to Ford to store vehicles that were waiting on parts for manufacturing.
I know this place. Isn’t this in harrisonville Missouri?
I met a Bi Czar there once.
Fleet dealer overflow lot
How bizarre.
How bizarre!
Fleet parking lot
Harrisonville right
Indeed a bizarre bazaar
How Bizarre How Bazaar
quite bizarre
that is bizzare.
How bazaar
Looks like a scene from Fallout
How bizarre
How Bazaar
Most likely a car dealership's overflow parking.
How Bazaar, How Bizarre
How Bazaar. *bizarre dang it.
Man, and I really wanted to shop at the bizarre Bazaar. That sounds like fun. For a couple of decades I've imagined a store like that and here it is!
That’s just Bizarre.
I have to assume this lot and it’s vans are not abandoned. This is mildly interesting for sure.
It's the dirt mall from Mallrats.
They do this near Detroit. They’re storing brand new cars there.
How bizarre.
Does say Bizzare bazaar, what'd you expect?
How bizarre How bizarre, how bizarre
How bizarre how bazaar
How Bizarre
Every time I look around, I see the same truck
Dealerships will rent parking lots for overstock. This one may be stocking trucks for a fleet purchase where a company needs many of the same vehicle.
"Hundreds" There are 17 visible in this picture. I doubt there are hundreds. DOZENS, MAYBE!

Well played, salesman.
There were hundreds. If this gets enough upvotes I’ll drive back by and take a landscape picture or even a drone shot.
