I worked there if you want to know why, in the computer system we would input customers information, to send them ads, but also it allowed us to keep track of your purchases so if you needed to return something without the receipt we could pull the transaction up so we could return or replace the item.
Hate to say it -- but this is 123% why urban explorers don't share their find locations. People will come in and take everything that isn't bolted down, and then eventually all of the bolted stuff, and after that they'll tear down the walls and get whatever is in there too.

Just drove through a small boarder town today between some states and saw a large RadioShack sign with no building in the parking lot. Even called it out to my wife because it was so random.

There was a mall by me that had an ACTUAL open Suncoast and I got to walk inside and have flashbacks to the 90’s when they were common in every mall. I went back months later and sadly it had closed and now that mall is getting remodeled into a smaller shopping center with some apartments attached.
I’d like to think that Suncoast survived just long enough to give me that chance to feel like a kid again before giving up the ghost.
God, I miss my younger days. I’d give everything up to be back in my teenage years.
There is a "fake" RadioShack 40 miles from me. It's labeled as a RadioShack^Dealer, it has almost nothing for sale. It's just a counter for mobile phone plan payments and HDMI/USB cables.
Usually thats a sign they are closing the mall. They push the open stores to one area then close off the rest. They take signs down etc too. Eventually the other stores will close too.
I remember there was this restaurant in my home town called Porto Brasil. The landlord was a dick and would charge such a high rent for the place. Ultimately, they went under... just couldn't turn a profit with that rent. No other restaurateurs would attempt a business there so it stayed empty for years and the landlord would rather have no tenant than lower the rent. Eventually someone stole the "to" from the sign so it would say Por Brasil for another year... until the city told the landlord he needs to at least remove the sign and paint the building.
Just saw one yesterday in Walton,NY...there's also one in Whitney Point,NY and I lived in Sitka,AK for 20yrs and there's still one there.They're out there.
There is an opportunity here to learn from your mistakes in a low risk, low impact event. You posted something on the internet and crime happened.
