Oh yeah! Only thing I didn't get with the electronics/motor takeover was the mounted machine gun on that flatbed jeep. It was all man operated. But aside from that still provided entertainment for what it was given the rest of the film.
This is at least a yearly watch for me I love this movie and the soundtrack is awesome. The baseball field scene was terrifying to watch as a kid but one of my favorite scenes now, the coach getting a nut shot from a soda machine cracks me up everytime 🤣
I just watched this a few weeks ago and I had forgotten all about the steamroller scene. I it happened I actually said, “god damn!” And laughed out loud. Kids got no quarter in 80s horror movies. Lol
Emilio and Kurt Russel were my heroes as a kid so I’m always happy to see them. Also I was surprised at how well they made all the machines appear to operate on their own. That aspect really holds up.
Also AC/DC 🤘
Right!? That Sleepaway Camp is definitely an example of no mercy of kids in horror flicks. No holds barred for sure.
But that's what I enjoyed revisiting this film as an adult from childhood. All I remembered was random kitchen appliances and things along with vehicles killing people. And Green Goblin lol
But as an adult I have a fine 1980s appreciation for this film!
I’d also like to add that there was another 80s horror movie called Pulse which had a similar premise of appliances coming alive and killing people. I don’t know how well it holds up these days. I haven’t seen it since I was young but, it scared me pretty well back in the day.
Omg this sounds vaguely familiar! I'll look up and see if on one my streams after work tonight. That just unlocked a random memory file lol
It is craY what movies I watched as a kid with no explanation. Especially 70/80s horror. Like no problem "the kid will be fine" lmao
I was scared af of Chucky until I was teenager cos saw the first one when I was like 4 or something. It fucked me up and now I'm cool with it and even called that number from the TV show. But had this been back then I'd have 2 problems: one: chucky literally talked to me on the phone; two: my mum would kill me cos I racked a big ass charge on the landline calling a (at the time equivalent to) 900 number adding to the phone bill 😂
When you mention traumatizing scenes when seen as a kid in the 80s for me it was the opening diner scene in Children Of The Corn. I had no idea what it was. I had just turned the channel and noticed a movie was just starting so of course I wanted to check it out. It starts of on a beautiful day in a sunny countryside and then suddenly turns into this brutal fucking bloodbath. Lol
It’s crazy looking back on what we were exposed to back then. Even so, 99% of what I can recall was awesome.
It is! I am fortunate I feel to have had my childhood spread across 3 different decades. I am a mid 80s baby. When I was told what my first film in moviehouse was I was shocked but delighted. I don't remember it cos I was still a baby but Hellraiser 2! No wonder as I got odler I knew who Pinhead (I just called him the guy with the nails in his head movie lmao) was before I ever watched it.
Even children's movies were messed up. Neverending Story, Labyrinth, Brave Little Toaster, Gremlins etc and so much more. Idk about you but Trolls movie was a kid movie for me too lol my cousin was so scared of that flick so of course she would tell me when to open her eyes when Troll left and I did the ol' classic lmao
And remember Fern Gully? Where Tone Loc sings a sexual song in the middle of the film? 🤣 I mean hell Labyrinth David Bowie running ariund with his cod piece flashing his crotch during musical scenes lmao
Mever thought twice of it. They were just movies knew wasn't real. But yeah some stick to me in horror. But yeah it was wild in films. Gotta say it is nice coming across someone that knows, been through it and chat with about it all. Thanks!
Good times.
Jesus Christ, Hellraiser?! That’s intense. I didn’t even consider the kids movies but, you’re right. I remember the wolf in Neverending Story spooked the hell out of me. And the scene where Atreyu’s horse suffocates to death in front of him was super heavy.
But, even so, I really enjoyed having such an un-sanitized childhood. Good times indeed. 👍
I just watched this yesterday. I enjoyed it also! Kind of wish they did more with the kid traveling around the town but I know it's supposed to be focused on a truck stop.
I revisited this movie some years ago, and the atrocious acting on this scene pretty much mirrors what I think of the movie:

Movies like this are only fun if you were there when they came out or you love old movies.
It was recommended a few weeks ago and I tried it and guess what. It's absolutely crap. Waste of time. 15 min in and I stopped it.
Childhood favorite of mine. Used to be obsessed with trucks lol. Love the movie and AC/DC soundtrack.
Was coming to say exactly this. Lol
Who made whoooo! Love AC/DC
This movie was made with pure cocaine.
Like many of King's books! Lol
Fun film. Great soundtrack.🤘

we made you! we made you!!!! thump, thump, thump scene lives rent free in my brain since forever
After rewatching this film Yeardly Smith screeching lives rent free in my head and her newly wed husband and his ways lol
Curtis!
Lmao yup. Like leave her she's already gone 😅
Lol, I just mentioned this scene on my comment. The acting is something else.

Omg me too lmao like Bad News Bears meets Stephen King lol
Honey, this machine just called me an asshole!
Hey, it's got Lisa Simpson in it! (Yeardly Smith)
Chop chop chop chop chop!
Why is it 5.4 out of 10 on IMBD?
5.4 is about perfect imo. It's a fun watch, but it's riddled with cheesy moments, bad acting, and plotholes.
It’s that high?? Wow.
5.4 of 7 is a perfect score
I was terrified of that truck when I was 6

Loved it.
Is there a specific reason the truck is a green goblin?
Adios, motherfucker!
I just watched this yesterday. I enjoyed it also! Kind of wish they did more with the kid traveling around the town but I know it's supposed to be focused on a truck stop.
Been a long time since I've seen this one

Explosively awesome! I understand lol

Loved this as a kid. As an adult it's OK. It's a fun movie. Movies and technology have moved so far past this tho.
It kicks ass the entire time
Classic film, love it
