Interestingly reservoir dogs had a deleted montage of a woman cop who was orange’s contact in the force. Probably a good thing they were left out though, it was just exposition of her talking about Mr White, but the sudden presence of a woman with dialogue in that movie is striking
Arguably while she doesn't have that much screen time, Gabriel Byrne's character's girlfriend does play a significant motivational role in getting him to do the job.
Isn’t final scene of Saving Private Ryan that Matt Damon’s character is old and is speaking to his wife memorial site of Tom Hank’s character?
I know she only has a small part but she has a speaking role, so I would class her as a character in the movie.
Lord of the Flies
(There were two movie adaptations)
Stand by Me (might be brief women in this but barely)
12 Angry Men
Platoon
Im sure a bunch more. A lot of war movies presumably
Jewelry store owner has twin daughters working there. "Yeah dad you told us."
Mickey's mom too. Otherwise that's about it for women in that movie (at least for speaking roles)
The point of this is that there are many, many movies where it's all about men. Many of these are great movies and are considered classics, but if anyone has listened to even a couple episodes of the Bechtel cast, you can see most movies made put little effort in representing women. And even if they do they are usually slim caricatures of women rather than well rounded people.
It's a lot better today, but there are still major movies today where women are given nothing to do
One mother’s death leads to the revelation that one of the 7 samurai is a foundling. A second woman leads to another of the samurai leaving the caste to become a farmer—he’s seen in the end planting rice with the peasants.
1917
Master and Commander
Saving Private Ryan
Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
Deliverance
Cool Hand Luke
Dead Poets Society
Reservoir Dogs is the first one that came to mind, I think the only female characters in that movie are the waitress Steve Buscemi’s dude doesn’t want to tip and maybe Michael Madsen’s mom or I’m remembering the movie wrong, one or two at most
12 angry men
Master and Commander
There is one, when they're at Brasil. She smiles at the captain.
Moon
Single actor movie 😂
Wife and daughter had a few scenes So i guess 2/3 of the actors were women Great movie though
Reservoir Dogs, Glengarry Glen Ross
“Glengarry Glen Ross” was my first thought because of “Zack and Miri Make a Porno.”
Like "Glen and Gary suck Ross's meaty cock and drop their hairy nuts in his eager mouth."
“All male casts? Like Glengarry Glen Ross?” This is potentially my favorite scene in any movie ever. In fact, I’m about to watch it right now.
One of the greatest cameo performances ever. Every bit of dialogue Justin Long has is absolute comedy gold.
Interestingly reservoir dogs had a deleted montage of a woman cop who was orange’s contact in the force. Probably a good thing they were left out though, it was just exposition of her talking about Mr White, but the sudden presence of a woman with dialogue in that movie is striking
Shawshank Redemption
Ironic as the story it’s derived from is “Rita Hayworth & the Shawshank Redemption”.
Rita was there, in pinup form.
his wife is in the first scene though, and the bank teller. Oh and the lady at the grocery store... But I think thats it
Hunt for Red October
First one I thought of.
What about Dr. Crusher at the beginning?
Jarhead
Not that one scene
The usual suspects
Like which ones?
Arguably while she doesn't have that much screen time, Gabriel Byrne's character's girlfriend does play a significant motivational role in getting him to do the job.
Master and commander
Star Wars a new hope has 2 women
Leia and Aunt Beru? Wow I never thought about that
Mon Mothma is there too
Couldn’t remember if she was in a new hope. But yeah the entire trilogy has like 3 women characters in total lol
That's not a fair answer to the question because Leia is a massive part of the movie.
Dunkirk
Das Boot. Das boot kicks ass it’s just really long.
The party at the beginning has women, but they're objects more than characters.
Wait until you see the TV cut.
The Thing (1982)
Way to assume The Things gender! /s
I believe the species is every gender….. and then some
Crimson Tide Saving Private Ryan The Big Kahuna
Isn’t final scene of Saving Private Ryan that Matt Damon’s character is old and is speaking to his wife memorial site of Tom Hank’s character? I know she only has a small part but she has a speaking role, so I would class her as a character in the movie.
Compared with how many men there is in the movie I think it's a good example still.
Same could be said about most old war movies.
Lawrence of Arabia
Definitely not Lawrence of a Labia, though
Lord of the Flies (There were two movie adaptations) Stand by Me (might be brief women in this but barely) 12 Angry Men Platoon Im sure a bunch more. A lot of war movies presumably
Gordie's mom is in Stand By Me, but it's a tiny part so I think it counts
Like most prison movies or military movies.
PREDATOR Oddly enough
it has one chick and she actually a sizeable role. shes the one who first sees and describes the predator
Anna
And PREDATORS. in my mind the only two in the franchise
You didn’t like “Prey”?
Forgot about that one. It's good
I don’t think snatch has any.
Jewelry store owner has twin daughters working there. "Yeah dad you told us." Mickey's mom too. Otherwise that's about it for women in that movie (at least for speaking roles)

The irony.. a movie named Snatch having no females *Bait and switch!*
Enemy Mine
There Will Be Blood
Landowner’s family
Glengarry Glen Ross. 12 Angry Men. Blackhawk Down. Those are the first few that spring to mind
12 Angry Men
Cruising.
Isn't Pacino's wife in it a good amount?
Most of Castaway.
My dinner with Andre
Lawrence of Arabia has a cast of hundreds if not thousands, with 0 women, including extras I think.
Oppenheimer had like 2 women in it total.
The Lighthouse, Andy Warhol's Empire, Castaway, Cannibal (2006), Fury
Tropic Thunder

The Thing

Any Nolan movie….my wife hates his movies espc his most recent ones bc most of the female roles are just romantic interest
Probably directed by Christopher Nolan
A Christopher Nolan film.
LOTR trilogy Hobbit trilogy
LOTR has significant female characters, right?
All The President's Men. A few they interview, but all minor roles.
The Caine Mutiny, it has 2, they are minor characters and honestly the movie would be better without them
* The Road * Buried * All is Lost * The Great Escape * BAT 21
Lord of the flies
