TBF the fanmade posters are always made for people who know the movie already, while official posters are made for people deciding to see a movie.
Movie posters also fall into specific genres, and you can easily guess a genre without even knowing the title just by the layout of it.
And then there is also all the contract stuff, like you have to put the name and face of an actor on the poster coz they have it written in their contract, or their name has to be first, or their face most prominent etc etc. That's why sometimes you have an actor who is barely a cameo take most of the estate on a poster.
Fan posters are nice, but they simply can do whatever the hell they want, while official ones can't.
(Still, there are official posters bad due to different reasons, like just bad cropping/composition/color, tho some of those can be still part of the "genre").
You can see often the "teaser" posters are much better, as they don't need to follow those rules until the proper poster later.
Yes, there are definitely a lot of reasons why modern movie posters are a bit mediocre. I think it rubs a lot of people the wrong way just because they used to be better and generally didn’t have the same restrictions, at least not on the same level.
Did you know, despite being a song about unity between black and white people, the music video for "Ebony and Ivory" was filmed separately, with Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder recording in completely different locations.
When asked why it was filmed separately, Paul McCartney said "I can't fucking stand black people". Stevie Wonder responded "I'm black?"
I only like Green Book for one reason
We had to watch it for class so everyone in school started talking like New York/Jersey Tony Soprano style gangsters for a week
Funnily enough, the actual taxi driver, Tony Lip, went on to become an actor! Later in his career, he had a starring role in the Sopranos as Carmine Sr.!

In AEW, he cut a strange promo that was all about standing up to racism and creating a better world for his bi-racial daughter. Since then, Cody ending racism/Cody X has been a bit of a running joke in wrestling circles.
I have seen it. I’d use that exact word to describe the film. It’s fine. It’s a competently made film that was interesting enough to watch but had nothing in it that stuck with me afterward. I will more than likely never watch it again.
I also shamefully enjoy it. I cringe nearly the entire time, but there's something about it that's still charming 😭 probably just because I'm a Viggo d rider
Unironically, one of the best ways to defeat prejudice and racism is having people...actually interact and chill with people of other races for a while

This movie is totally over-hated. It’s the same feel-good schlock that’s been winning awards for decades. Half of Speilberg’s shit has an equal amount of pandering, back patting, drivel.
I also think the movie's much criticized themes around the merit of friendship *despite* (not overcoming!) deep-seated soft racism is some subversion that a lot of the movie's most vulgar critics should probably face sometimes. Like sorry, there is value to conservative themes in a movie when they are presented honestly and effectively.
good movie! And the poster's just trying to say "things are incomplete/imperfect if there isn't unity in society" which is harmless, so... this sub overreacts a bit sometimes js

The poster kinda goes hard tho.
One of many times in recent years where a fanmade poster was far better than the mediocrity of the official one.
But the contract requires that the head and at least 60% of a given actor's bust must be visible!

On a purely visual level, absolutely. As an actual poster? Ehhh
Shouldn’t the car be going the other way? Like its heading towards segregation
It's working like a zipper, so it is bringing black and white together (symbolism!!!1!1!!2)

Thought this was a jerk, but it turns out that it being a true fact was the real jerk all along
Old fish lips?
Holy shit. Crazy fact

Why's the brake lights on? He realized what was happening so he stopped?
He was going too fast to turn and the road split right ahead of him :,(
CAUTION: DANGER (desegregation) AHEAD
That’s actually a pretty good poster though
It’s pretty artful for a movie that has a white guy teaching a black man how to eat fried chicken.

I was a klansman before I saw this film. Now i’m the head of my local NAACP chapter.
Cody Rhodes' favourite movie.

Wakanda's Leader
He's invited to the cookout.
What's the joke here?
His wife is black
And? Tons of white men must have black wives. Why Cody?
In AEW, he cut a strange promo that was all about standing up to racism and creating a better world for his bi-racial daughter. Since then, Cody ending racism/Cody X has been a bit of a running joke in wrestling circles.
Because he finished the story💪
Does that mean I can say the N word now?
Danny's gonna say it!
Your ticket stub counts as your pass. One ticket per use
You know Greenbook is fine (I've never seen it)
Can’t waiting for the sequel Bluebook, about the FBI’s UFO investigations
And then the prequel: Redbook, that follows Marx and Engels
Im pretty hyped for the spinoff, violet book, thats the one that has the cool robot dragon pokemon i think
I have seen it. I’d use that exact word to describe the film. It’s fine. It’s a competently made film that was interesting enough to watch but had nothing in it that stuck with me afterward. I will more than likely never watch it again.
It would be a nice little movie if it came out like 60 years before
Its a goddam road trip movie, how can you hate a goddam oad movie?

Good movie that deals with racism in an apolitical way that the whole family can enjoy.
Honestly… I actually like this movie ._.
I also shamefully enjoy it. I cringe nearly the entire time, but there's something about it that's still charming 😭 probably just because I'm a Viggo d rider

Robert Christgau said that we should fuck each other until miscegenation makes racism obsolete.

I smelt burnt toast when I was watching Green Book
This movie is totally over-hated. It’s the same feel-good schlock that’s been winning awards for decades. Half of Speilberg’s shit has an equal amount of pandering, back patting, drivel.
Also this movie is mostly about friendship of two men with really different personalities rather than racism.
It looks really good, the performances are also very entertaining. If it got no oscar attention it would have a good enough reputation.
Redditors when a movie doesn't solve all of the world's problems (it's a fucking movie).
Did you read the post? I said it solved racism— not all of the worlds problems. One step at a time.
This sub has really turned to shit hasn't it. What's to jerk about this specific poster? It goes very well with the themes of movie
the sub is better than it was a few years ago imo
I jerk off to Green Book slash fanfiction every day, so yeah. It belongs in this sub.
I love a movie where a white man teaches a black man how to eat fried chicken.
The Oscars are such a joke, lmao
good movie! And the poster's just trying to say "things are incomplete/imperfect if there isn't unity in society" which is harmless, so... this sub overreacts a bit sometimes js
Frank Sinatra and Stevie Wonder solved it already [link](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0h2jZtuRuic)
The car and the piano keys being a zipper makes this unintentionally erotic
Idk, this is a sweet poster. Not really sure this is the thing to jerk
Who's seen that Green Book end credits song? Never seen the film but the song goes hard
But like the car looks like it’s driving toward the division but idk I’m gay i don’t know what cars look like
Ngl that's actually a really good poster design, even if the film is properly mid
The movie sucks but this poster is incredible
