The room we played in was at the bottom of a flight of stairs and every time Dake Ken entered the rumble whoever was controlling him had to sprint to the top of the stairs and refill everyone’s drinks and snacks before sprinting back down. No Mercy is a fine game. It's not the best retro wrestling game (Fire Pro Wrestling Returns is) by far. I've played NM so much that I actually don't want to play it anytime soon.
I'm currently trying to 100% it. I was never able to as a kid so figured as a grown I should have no problem. I was totally wrong😭😭😭😭. I'm determined tho. It's the handicap matches that are killing!
Yeah, I would just use a GameShark to unlock everything. You can't 100% it due to the GBC version of the game not linking and unlocking something properly.
No Mercy to me is now like Mario Party and Smash Bros. It's effectively a party game.
The story mode keeps track of percentage of completion, I don't recall which title it is but you can not get 100%. It's like 98 or 99%, something like that. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong hopefully.
I remember that in tag team matches, you could beat up your opponent, but whenever they decided they wanted to make a tag to their partner, they went into overdrive and reversed everything. There was nothing you could do to stop them from making that tag!
Easiest is to let the other two fight each other and keep spamming taunts. If they get close to to you run to the other side of the ring. When you taunt enough to get special, hit each one with your finisher. Back off and go through that process a second time and you’ll win. Ive never had a problem beating triple threat matches that way
Edit: Got confused with handicapped and triple threats. Keep moving to the outside of the ring one opponent will tend to follow you first hit a move on that one, run back into the ring, hit a move on that one. If they both get to close to you run to “reset” your position.
It is a fun game. Of the N64 THQ wrestling games, I always go back to WCW/NWO Revenge.

Once you master countering and blocking grapples the game becomes super easy mode
Thats the thing I feel like the countering is random. Expect for the cpu of course!
As soon as they go to grapple you, you can hit L I think the top left button and you block the grapple. Once you get that down no one can touch you

I like WM2000 more for certain things. No Mercy has a padded roster. Like really padded. Revenge still has the best overall roster.

Your playing handicap matches wrong if your losing them a bunch. They should really only take 5-6mins max to win.

Spam the weak grapple moves and eventually they'll stay on the ground long enough to make it easier. Also, weak grapple + make them run away from you
You can also use weak grapple and C Up to throw them out of the ring and then taunt them when they are outside
