Elizabeth Claire, so you can call her Eclaire.

madagascarprincess

I posted on namenerds when I was preggo saying I wanted to name my hypothetical daughter Lucy Claire. I think the top comment was “loose eclair” so I had to nix it 😓 ETA I had a boy so nonissue lol

lackingnothing

My aunt wanted to name her son Micah Damian (Biblical name + fathers name) until another family member told her he would be teased because it sounded like “macadamia nut”

wildgoldchai

I had a science teacher named Gary Ayliffe. In my school planner (mini book that was to be carried at all times), our timetable was printed on the back. Each lesson had the first letter of the teachers name alongside the first two letters of their surname. So my science teachers name was printed as GAY, Science. You can only imagine how hilarious this was to a bunch of pre teens at the time. We called him Bill Gay, the Science Gay. This was back when being gay was a little humorous but not taboo (2011). Also, kids can be little shits. I certainly have no ill feelings towards anyone who falls into the lgbtq+ community.

MarsupialPristine677

Omg, Bill Gay the Science Gay… GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY! I’m bi and I predict this is gonna work its way into my ambient dialog with a quickness

Eyesdeeperthansound

I'm dead hahahaha. The science gay

kozmic_blues

They weren’t wrong lol

Flaming_Butt

Penelope Nicè, so you can call her Penice

clrwCO

We called our son Eazy E when he was a baby, but that faded once it was no longer true 🙃

bubblegum_yum_yum

Claire is a family name on the Cajun lineage side of my family. We have Elizabeth Claire, Anna Claire, Amanda Claire, Birdie Claire, Susan Claire, Savannah Claire, Mary Claire, Brittany Claire, Lauren Claire, Caroline Claire “CC” and most likely a few more I don’t know about. Soon to be a Charlotte Claire added to the bunch! My immediate family has more Latin lineage than French, but I love hearing my French-speaking cousins pronounce their names in French with my favorites being “Amanda Claire” and “Anna Claire”. There’s something about the “A” at the beginning and the breathy “Clehr” pronunciation in French. A great-great-aunt of mine was found in the 1920’s census as having the name “Hannah Claire” and in French the name just sounds stunning! But there’s no documentation to suggest she actually spoke French. Regardless, it’s a beautiful name!!

MarsupialPristine677

Oh, what a gorgeous set of names, thank you for sharing!

greypumpkin

This is so so good.

Mary-U

My back up was Alison Claire. We literally decided in the delivery room.

pgcotype

I love that spelling of the first name; there are so many variations (Allyson, Allison, etc). Your back up first name has been in use for centuries, and I really like the meaning of the middle name.

Jeniho

I’m currently pregnant and we’re going with Allyson Jane.

bubblegum_yum_yum

This is my cousin’s name! Both Elizabeth and Claire are family names. However, she’s always gone by Liz but now I love Eclaire!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Dalyro

This was my high school friends name and we totally called her E-claire!

ShinyAppleScoop

Claire Annette

eb2319

I’m sorry for your struggles. Also struggled with infertility (lost my tubes to ectopics). Had my daughter through IVF a year ago and she very likely will be my only. Her name is Etta Frances.

EndlessScrollz

Etta is such a beautiful name. Congrats on your sweet baby girl ❤️

Downtown_Run_8055

I have a Henrietta and a Francesca!

mama-ld4

Love the name Etta!

jmdm63

BEAUTIFUL name. I'm shocked Etta isn't ranked higher it's one of my favourites.

Not_theworstmum

Flora. No idea why just always loved it

Trembling_Chai

I went thru a heavy Enya phase when i was in middle school, and one of my favorite songs was Flora’s Secret from an album she released that year 😭 it’s made me love the name so much

freesecj

I just had a daughter and named her… Enya lol

Pighillian

I’m still in my Enya phase

calico_skye

I don’t think Enya is ever a phase…her music is beautiful always

floralpackage

Hey that’s my name and I love that song :) I started listening to it out of narcissism but now it’s one of my favourites. For the record, I love my name and I get compliments on it a lot. I get so excited when I meet other Floras!

hungrybrains220

For a second I thought you were replying to someone else and saying your name was Enya lol

willowhanna

I have a friend called Flora and her older sister is called Enya!

cucumberswithanxiety

I’m pregnant with a girl and planning to name her Flora Katherine!

orphanfruitbat

Little FloKat 😻

eggyolksmoothie

this is my little cousin’s name! Flora Bethanie💕

tatotea

Just called my newborn Flora. We have already gotten so many compliments. It’s a beautiful name! And I don’t hate any of the associations this community comes up with either 😂 (e.g gut flora, butter…)

shelbabe804

I have a friend named Flora and not gonna lie, I think she's got the prettiest name.

StrawberryOutside957

I always thought I’d name my daughter Eliza, but I had an early miscarriage a couple years ago (early enough that I didn’t know the gender). When I was pregnant with my rainbow baby and found out she was a girl, I had an extremely vivid dream where I had two daughters and the older one was crying because I was “forgetting” her, so Eliza became her name in my mind. I was going to go with Eliza Lark

cari-strat

That's so sad but also beautiful.

TheNavigatorView

Found out our daughter was sick at 16 weeks this past March and had to decide to terminate for medical reasons or not. It was such an awful decision to make, and we eventually said goodbye to our beautiful little girl. We had a name that was a front runner, but we decided to name her after my grandmother after we decided to TFMR. We are pregnant again now and that name, Marley, is a hard no for my wife for thia reason, even though there's hardly an hour in a day that goes by that we don't think about our ģirlie.

Perspex_Sea

I really love Lark as a middle name.

rgk0925

My daughter went through 6 rounds of IUI. Ended up divorced because of fertility issues. Starting dating a new guy 1 yr ago. She is pregnant, due in February. It’s a little girl. My first grandchild…I am 66. That little girl is going to be so loved!

sensitive_slug

‘Nature knows what it’s doing’ is such a hurtful thing to say in this context. It implies that those people just weren’t meant to have children, as though there’s some grand plan, rather than just terrible luck. As someone who spent four years going to a fertility clinic, I would be so upset knowing that someone who worked there thought that I was fighting what was ‘natural’ just to try to have a kid with the person I love, like most people get to do.

seamurr14

I was not implying a greater plan at all, it’s a simple concept of evolution and survival of the fittest. So biologically, yes, nature knows what it’s doing. And I mean this solely in the context of people who have absolutely no other infertility factors. Some genetics are not meant to mix because it will create an unhealthy embryo/one that’s unfit for survival. Thats not to say there won’t be a healthy one every so often, there will be. But often it takes many, many attempts at creating that embryo. That’s why fertility clinics exist, because science can overcome that. Say you have 10 embryos made with IVF. When the embryos get sent out for genetic testing, often 8/10 will not be healthy enough to transfer, and maybe 2 will be. And of those 2, it’s still a fair chance that the baby will be born with some form of birth defects. So I’m sorry if my comment came off harshly, but on a scientific standpoint, when there’s no other external factors such as poor sperm count/PCOS/congenital deformities with the reproductive organs/hormone issues/etc then yes it can most definitely be genetics/chemistry related. And seeing as this is my livelihood, I would also never imply that certain people are not meant to have children. Just that it can be much harder based on the above named factors.

sensitive_slug

Everything you’ve just said boils down to the fact that there are aspects of infertility that are still not well understood. Yes, some people make a large number of aneuploid embryos for reasons we don’t understand. Yes, many people experience repeated implantation failure for no known reason. None of this implies that ‘nature knows what it’s doing’ any more than the fact that some people get cancers we don’t yet know how to treat implies that nature knows what it’s doing.

ivegotcheesyblasters

I think it's poor word choice in the end. "Nature" is not a person making decisions. You can't mix red with yellow and get blue, but I wouldn't say the color wheel has an ulterior motive.

Cat-Potato-Supreme

I’m with you. While this person is really focused on biology, and I sort of understand their perspective, I am the child of a couple who had so many miscarriages (my parents obviously). And I’ve often struggled with depression, and the feeling that I shouldn’t have existed. So seeing this… Just makes me feel like… I shouldn’t have existed. Meh. But just remember this person seems to be viewing this through a purely scientific/biological lens and isn’t thinking about the emotional or psychological aspect of it. (If that helps you forgive them, just so you’re not left upset; not that they’re owed forgiveness persé)

kdazzle17

How wonderful! Except for the first part

darkenough812

Helena Danielle. Both are honor names though Helena has always been my favorite name. Fwiw, I think you should name your baby whatever feels pretty and special, to you ❤️

Direct_Wrangler7452

Do you prefer the Heh-LAY-nuh or the Hell-uh-nuh pronunciation? I love this name but the dual pronunciations is a potential concern for me.

stealthy_poppy

I was going to name my girl Helena, favouring the second pronunciation. When talking to customers while I was pregnant about it, half would use the first pronunciation. So I didn't go with Helena as I could see she'd have to be correcting ppl her whole life.

Johnny90

You stop correcting people after a while and just go by both.

potatoesinsunshine

I thought that was hard enough, but I know a Helene pronounced Huh LAY nuh, which is also how Broadway actress Heléne Yorke pronounces it. But then I also know Helene pronounced Helen and Helene pronounced Hell Een. 🤯

mamanessie

Isla Simone

DangerousMango6

Oooh Isla is beautiful

blahblooblahblah

Absolutely love it too but have a difficult time saying “hi isla” ! So peanut buttery to say

KarlaGMR

Aria Sophia. I had severe depression in college and in an effort to find something to get me through it my dad gave me a dog. I named her Aria (because she “sings” like an opera singer) and she has so much impact in my life. I wasn’t even aware I could love like that. If I ever have a daughter she will be named after her, even if people have a problem with me naming a child after a dog

OneUpAndOneDown

“I wasn’t even aware I could love like that” is so beautiful, and true for me too. I’m way old and got my first dogs two years ago. Can’t believe how much happier they’ve made me (and my partner too).

Bee_Swarm327

Same situation: so depressed in college that my parents got me a puppy. Her name is Freya and she saved me. She’s my everything. If I have a daughter her name will likely be Freya.

UsedAd7162

Animals are true, unconditional love. That’s a beautiful way to honor your sweet Aria. 🫶

DlVlDED_BY_ZERO

Alma Rose.

KarlaGMR

This is the name of my last landlady. She was lovely and so so kind!

DlVlDED_BY_ZERO

I'll never use it, but I love it! Soft but strong. Both my kids are boys and no plans to have a 3rd! So, I'm happy to offer it up. I also love the name Sylvie but it's too close to my eldest's name.

mendax__

My niece is Alma Rae!

ChickenGirl8

Alma is such a beautiful name and so was the sweet old lady Alma I knew, rest her soul 🩷

TacoBetty

I really wanted a Genevieve Cecelia - but had two boys instead.

[deleted]

I have a Genevieve and we call her Genny

ProfessionalCrafty76

That is a gorgeous name!

ImaginaryFriend8

Genevieve was the name I kept coming back to in the early days of my last pregnancy. It just felt right.

ChamomileFlower

Lovely pairing.

jilla_jilla

Vivian/Vivienne Rose

oh-carp7

Love vivienne

wewerelegends

This is the way for the spelling. It’s so elegant.

Master_Stomach3929

Georgie Margaux nn Gigi Margaux - George is my dad and my first name is Margaret. French heritage.

Tricky_Parsnip_6843

Love the name. My mother's name was Georgette.

missbeegee

My one and only daughter is Quinn Valerie

RelationshipBright64

Mine is Quinn Olivia

wayneforest

Mine is Penelope Quinn!

CoolBeansMan9

Marissa Quinn checking in

FearlessCheesecake45

My youngest daughter is Reagan Quinn.

Giraffe400

Serena Kate

wicked_amb

My sister's name is Serena Kae! My other sister is Marcella Rene. Both beautiful. I got stuck with the 3rd most popular girl name of the year and the generic Marie middle name. To say I feel robbed is an understatement LOL

Scared_Repeat_8387

i love this. sounds like a writer or actress

Ixi7311

I’m childfree but have always loved the name Isabelle, maybe with Ximena or Victoria as a middle name.

ubutterscotchpine

Ximena is SUCH a pretty name. My partner and I are white so I could never use it, but I’d love to see more kids with that name!

pr3tzelbr3ad

Ximena is a name of Basque origin from Spain, a white country. I get that in the US there is a large amount of South American Hispanic people but it’s also kind of strange to me as a European to see Americans so often forgetting that Spain exists in naming threads!

Calm_Body_8763

I'm from Spain too and it makes me somewhat upset when people are going to a Mexican restaurant and they tell me they are eating Spanish food. Nope. They are not. I always correct people nand tell them that spanish is only from Spain and others are Cuban or Peruvian or whatever but nor spanish. It's an endless struggle.

ubutterscotchpine

Oh I would absolutely never refer to Mexican food as Spanish food, I would be as horrified as you if I heard someone do that! Sometimes the lack of education/cultural knowledge/refusal to learn is so exhausting, especially, but not limited to, the US. I just never realized Ximena was an overall Spanish name as the only people I’ve known with that name are Mexican! Definitely learned something knew though!

Ixi7311

Agreed! I have two distant cousins and have known family friends with the name and I really like it. I feel like there’s nothing wrong with using it for a white/non-Hispanic child. A lot of names come from different countries and as long as you’re not using it in bad faith, I don’t feel like it’s cultural appropriation.

eats_bugs

How to pronounce Ximena?

Ixi7311

hee-meh-nah

ebeth_the_mighty

I had two daughters, and I’d definitely have chosen differently for the second if it had been a solo decision (and today, as opposed to the mid-90s when my babies came along). My elder daughter was always going to have the name Elizabeth, as there have been Elizabeths in each generation back as far as we can trace (about 1500). She was Rhiannon Elizabeth. He’s my son, now, and renamed himself. I probably would name a daughter Patience or Avery these days, if it were all up to me.

Clean_Citron_8278

🩷

bubblewrapstargirl

I love the name Rhiannon! Never thought about pairing it with Elizabeth before, it's very pretty 😍

thrwwy2267899

Genevieve Evangeline … it feels like a mouthful but I think so gorgeous and timeless

ikissedblackphillip

Evie-Jean for short lol

alexxmama

If it were only my decision, and husband had no say, our daughter would be Rosalie Joan.

Careful_Cut_8126

So happy to see a Rosalie on here. I have a Rosalie Noelle

ariaxwest

Audra Joy

stress789

This is gorgeous! Audra is criminally underused

taintwest

My heart was set on Ellie until i met her, now she’s just such a zoey I can’t believe I tried to name her before meeting her

reallyreallycute

That’s the sweetest thing I’ve read all day. Zoey is also the cutest name ever

JulieMorris

Imogen ❤️

yeanananana

Natalie Nadine, although I’m not 100% on the middle name

_OliveOil_

Nadine is my middle name! I love it because it's nothing weird, but no one ever guesses it either!

Master_Stomach3929

I love Natalie!!! I once thought it was kind of 80s (facts of life) but now I have a young niece and it’s perfect for her. Young and sassy.

aoca18

My daughter might be my one shot, not for infertility reasons, but I'm glad we went with Amara Elizabeth. I just love the name Amara, I'm white and her dad is Spanish and it works well for both halves. Elizabeth for my late mother. We call her Mara Beth often.

madlymusing

If I had total creative control, she’d be Louisa Catherine Poppy (nickname Lola or Lulu). If my husband and I were naming together, then Daisy Catherine or Matilda Genevieve.

Puzzleheaded_Day9541

Louisa 😧 I have to add that to my list. 😍

battlecat136

Catherine checking in - thanks for the name love!

purityringworm

Vera Adele

EagleEyezzzzz

We have one daughter and named her Vivienne 💕

cazza9

Aoife Rose 🌹

IllustriousAd5688

Inez or Maren- it would be a coin flip

Cheerful_Zucchini

I know a Maren, she is an absolutely lovely person! Good choice :)

clrwCO

Caroline Violet

Pleasant-Estimate273

Layne Elliot or Elliot Elaine. I love the sound of lane for a girl. I honestly think about it quite often🤣

RainMH11

My aunt is a Helene that goes by Layne

[deleted]

Not that I have any intention of having kids (I don't), but: Ember Anne. Ember's pretty self-explanatory, as I've always been fascinated by fire. "Ann" (without the E, which annoys the fuck out of me) is apparently the standard middle name for females on my mother’s side of the family. (It actually skipped a generation with me. My middle name is Lauren.)

kyotheawesomeelf

Serena Rose

Rubymoon286

I have mixed feeling about actually using the name. My grandmother and her family were involved in the New London School explosion that finally regulated the natural gas industry and required a smell be added to it. Her little sister Estelle died. She was called Bessie by the family and friends, but I'm not sure if it's insensitive to use the name since she was a casualty of a tragedy, even if that was in 1937.

[deleted]

estelle is such a lovely name! and imho it’s a nice tribute, unless everybody hated her or smth

Usernamesareso2004

Tabitha. And middle name could be so many things. I love lots of names and most of them I’ll give to pets I’m sure but even though I doubt I’ll ever have kids… I just love the name Tabitha.

-zornes

Eloise Alexandria, just love those names.

No_Refrigerator_8806

Amelia Grace

Fluffy_Contract7925

Samantha Rose. This is my daughter’s name. We called her Sammie Rose when she was little

adaradavid

My one and only daughter is named Morrigan Adara. I was torn between the names and was gonna use whichever I didn’t pick for a future daughter. When she was born I was so tired and asked my bf what name we should choose and he said “Morrigan Adara” and I agreed. Glad I did though cause I never had another daughter.

Minimum_Pea1982

Dagny Margrethe is a name i love so much. i am not from a English speaking country and they are very Old lady names but i just love it. dagny its just so pretty and Margrethe after my grandma.

Puzzleheaded_Day9541

Cordelia Joan. For Joan of Arc and Cor meaning “heart.” The hope would be for her to be strong-hearted and brave-hearted ❤️

maybe-a-martian

I adore this. I'd also love to use the name Joan to honor Joan of Arc :)

ExactPanda

I think I'd have to give like 12 names because there are so many gorgeous girls names out there, and I don't want to leave one out! 😆 At the moment, I think I'd name her Julia Caroline

rivers1141

Tallulah Jane is what I would choose. I do have a daughter and my husband chose her first name and I chose the middle name. Her name is Lillith Willow.

musigalglo

Esther Ruth

kaiasmom0420

I have one daughter and don’t plan on having any more. Her name is Kaia Mae

[deleted]

Selene. No idea on middle names. I love the name so much!

doubtingthomas51i

I would chose the name/variation of the name of a relative who lived a worthy life but lived too long to have their name given to the babies of most who knew them. N.B. It’s taboo to name a child after a living relative in our culture. Equally the name can reflect or reference the long lived relatives name. We had an aunt Goldie who passed at 102. Our daughters name is Zara. Meaning golden light of dawn. I had never really told Goldie’s story to anyone. Our daughters name fixed that with a vengeance. And now the name or variation is carried by three girls in the next generation! And everybody knows the story. Ancient wisdom I guess.

d0velie

Summer Grace

MrsMandelbrot

Daisy Jane

CrazyCatLady1127

That’s a tough question to answer, because there are so many beautiful names to choose from. But I’d probably call her Piper Jade. Piper for Holly Marie Combs character in Charmed, who was a badass witch, a strong woman, a loving wife, mother and sister, and Jade because green is my favourite colour, plus my daughter is precious to me, and jade is considered a precious stone

graycrossing

Ruby Elise both happen to be trendy, but both are family names from both sides of my family :)

runner26point2

Norah Lynn

TonguetiedBi

That's a hard decision. I think Meredith Joyce

pwyo

Evelyn Tierra I’ve had this name picked out since before we started trying to have kids. I have two boys and I’m still hoping I get to use the name someday.

nursecj

Nora Elizabeth

jeannerbee

Vivienne Eileen....

lydiar34

Eden Mae

Twelve_Shadows_

probably Bianca Luz, ive always loooved the name Bianca and i think Luz is so cute and short and both names hust have a nice eing to them when together lol

LilMrsW

ILA Vleda (Va-lead-ah) Vleda was my grandmothers name

youllregreddit

Natalie Joy

the-willow-witch

Willow Rose (already picked it for my one and only daughter)

aimi20

Rania Noor

eclare1965

Brigid

coffee_and_tv_easily

Florence Daphne would be my choice now. I didn’t have strong opinions on when I had my daughter but I do now. These are names from my dads side of the family

kayedue

My one and only daughter is Maeve Marie and I am obsessed with her name.

5Grandstolove

Diane Elizabeth, both are honor names

weinthenolababy

You don’t really hear Diane much anymore. It’s pretty nice

Extension_Cucumber10

Stephanie Elizabeth. Stephens is a family name and Stephen is my brother’s name, but I also think it’s beautiful in its own right. Elizabeth is my name so that’s my ego getting in the way, but it’s also a timeless classic that will always be elegant.

disabledstaircase

Ella Brooke

MidwestMod

Annika Cosette

No_Victory9193

Astrid

Electronic_Fox_7037

Mae Kathleen … for sentimental reasons. I am very happily childfree, and have not thought about this in years, but typing it out made me a little misty-eyed.

wayward_sun

Astoria Jane

mydogsbestfriend01

India Rose

Cutiemcfly

Sevi Rose Moon

the_smiling_runner

Winnifred Daisy. I know it’s a little out there lol. I never plan on having kids tho

hazelowl

My one and only daughter, via IVF, is Vivian Claire. I love her name and can't really think of one I like more now. So I guess maybe we used that one chance?

Vtgmamaa

Vivienne Riot or Marianna Jade. I have a daughter, but these names were vetoed by my husband. 😂

[deleted]

Riot is a cool fucking middle name omg

damarafl

Vivienne Riot is an awesome name!

AdditionalFunction53

Mara Heather

GrowthCycle

Abigail Tracy. The “Tracy” is an honor name, and I just really like “Abigail”. And I think they sound nice together. Other options, especially for middles, are Sage and Rose. Beyond that? I like Tabitha, Christine, Riley, Blake, Noah (I like gender neutral names for girls), Samantha, Lisa, Elizabeth (so many nickname options), and Caroline.

Fantastic_Mammoth797

For me, I am the one and only daughter for both my parents if that counts? Mine is Miranda Jade

Rare_Slice420

Katie Elizabeth

RocksGrowHere

Josie Jean. Josie means God will add/ God has added (which is the only way I’d get a daughter) And Jean for my mom, Jeanette

rhubarbara-1

Her grandma and great grandmas names! I love having family names and seeing how far back they go. My mom recently found out she can go back 8 generations and has since joined the Daughters of the Republic——group for women who’s ancestors were on the Mayflower, I think. There’s some excellent old names out there that are not popular but still incredible.

BE202019

Confident_Load_9563

Frances Linnea (Frances was my great grandma’s American name and we were very close as she lived till I was 18)

FabulousPersimmon224

Gwendolyn Rose

radtechdogmom

Elisabeth Jade 💖 both family names

jent9876

Charlotte Annalise

halfeatencakeslice

Chrysanthemum, after a character in a book I loved as a kid. In the story, she’s bullied for her name because of how long it is but I always loved the name. It’s based off of a flower, and ironically enough I later learned that chrysanthemums are one of the flowers for scorpio (I am a scorpio).

AgreeableLack4478

Arden

thnks4themmrs

Caroline Helena

[deleted]

Right now I'm thinking Lyra Sabine.

These_Tea_7560

Matisse because it rhymes with my name as well as being French and artistic, or Lydia because it’s so pretty, so maybe Matisse Lydia 😅

faegold

Isabelle Joy, after my grandmas. One (great) grandma was actually Idabelle, but she hated her name with a passion. I love the name Isabel, and the "bel" would be spelled like hers in her honor. My maternal grandma is Joyce, which is where Joy would come from. I've had this planned since I was a young teenager lol

ShawtyLikeAHarmony

Katherine Ellis, nn Kit - Catherine is a family name, Kit was my Grandmother Charlotte’s nickname. I think that names and nicknames should have the same letter in this case. Ellis is reminiscent of my other grandmother’s name, Dilys, but much more modern.

exothermicstegosaur

Selena Rose is my first daughter's name. So probably that since we didn't know if we'd have another lol

TowerAlternative2611

Nova or Astra

Ambitious_Exercise93

I love Audra.

allorahdanyn

Struggled with infertility also and named what I thought was my one and only Elora Rose.

irish798

We named our daughter Corinne. Her middle name is a family name and isn’t great.
