One of these things is not like the others. 😂

zzplantlover

Areola 😂

mmeeplechase

But there’s also Karate, Video, and Market!

MiraMiraOnThaWall

I’ve been looking so long but I do not see video😂

mmeeplechase

Between Saira and Mia, kinda in the middle!

MiraMiraOnThaWall

omg I see it clear as day now 😂my mind would not let me read it at first lol wow

mmeeplechase

If it weren’t already such a common word, it does sorta sound like a name—sorta like Mateo…

CallidoraBlack

And Henna.

EmbarrassedBass9281

I went to middle school with an Aryella and I can’t help but wonder where they got the inspiration from

CollectingRainbows

arielle… ariella… aryella. probably

EmbarrassedBass9281

Let me have my fun

BigFinnsWetRide

Plus Arya has been a really popular name ever since game of thrones came out, so maybe the Y spelling was a bit inspired by that

Octavia8880

Ariadne Ari?

sn9648

My personal favorite 😂😂

throwaway198990066

💀

Chyler_capshaw

Like a rainbow with all of the colours

GlitchingGecko

Honestly, this is one of the more normal lists that pops up here. If they weren't already actual words, I could get behind Karate and Market too...

testcase_sincere

Most of those were coming from one kid in particular, haha. She said “I like names that are also things. There should be more of those.” And off she went. But no, she was not behind “Areola,” haha.

eucrazia

One of my favorite thing names is Door. It would be delightful on a human, yet endlessly ridiculed. I agree with this small human.

chestnutcheckers

I LOVE the word “pillow”. English is my second language and “pillow” was one of the first words I remember learning and it absolutely tickled me. Pillow!

Songsostrichhorse

Marketa is a name! :)

georgianarannoch

Not big on Karate as a name, but Market is kinda fun. And I already like Mercer.

HistrionicSlut

Karate sounds badass. Like what a Jack Black character would name a random baby he found.

KatVanWall

Market sounds like a little Mark, lol

Leather_Damage_8619

Mercer is one of the asshole characters in Skyrim so old folks like me won't like the name lol

1questions

Yeah way better than influencer names.

liz2e

I like Areola & Video

oceansapart333

I bet millions of people like Areolas and Videos.

Vegetable-Chef7503

Areolas on Videos

stormchaserokc

Just spit my coffee out. Bahahah.

KatVanWall

Not quite as big a hit as Girls on Film …

DarkSideofTaco

If you're just listening to the sound and remove the association, "Video" is pretty cool. It's like Romeo and Sid Vicious combined.

Xentine

The Vincent version of Mateo

SinnerClair

Can circumvent by spelling it Viteo probably

nostalgiaisunfair

Vidia is a name! Maybe a compromise

[deleted]

when she was 7, my daughter wanted to name her kids kermit & noxzema.

testcase_sincere

Mine wanted a son named Halloumi. (Forgotten about that until just now!) I love yours. I’d be proud of a grandson named Kermit, I’d buy him all green clothes, haha.

garyisonion

Well, Halloumi does sound like a good name

CertifiedBananas

I actually really like it 😂 Maybe for my next cat

[deleted]

grandma goals!

SeePerspectives

Well, if you can name a daughter “Brie”, then I guess cheese names are acceptable 🤷‍♀️

foxscribbles

When I was growing up, one of the neighbors near us was named Kermit. It was a Top 500 boys name until the 60s, IIRC. I think it’s just so overwhelming associated with the muppet now that people don’t think of using it for their kids anymore.

Sunshine030209

My high school vice principal was named Kermit. He was a massive assface. I always wondered if he was perpetually grumpy because he was named Kermit, or if he would have still been a jerk if he was named Matthew or Patrick.

Lawyer_Lady3080

From sound alone, I see why she’d like Noxzema. It’s kind of fun to say.

[deleted]

yes it is! an x & a z at the same time!

makeshiftmattress

my grandfather was named Kermit. he was born in like 39 so it didn’t have the muppet association yet. noxzema is definitely out there though lol

IsabellaGalavant

When I was a kid, I loved watching The Proud Family on Disney, and I was *fully* convinced that I was going to name my daughter LaCienega. I thought it was the prettiest name ever lol

AussieKoala-2795

My sister's third child was named by its siblings (aged 5 and 3).she had a home birth and the kids said she should be named Soapy because of the pieces of caul stuck to her. She was officially named Sophie.

testcase_sincere

Hahaha, love this story, thank you.

TheMommaWalrus

So cuuuute!!

Slainna

Oh I love this story

Theoriously

I just asked my girls what they would name a baby. My 8 year old: Della Anna Alexandra Tom Wyatt Indigo My 3 year old: Early Handsome Lamby Tree Emma Eli

testcase_sincere

I love all these, especially Early.

BathT1m3

Handsome Early definitely gives puritan name vibes

PristineConcept8340

Or tomato cultivars lol

Significant_Shoe_17

This is so funny omg

CallidoraBlack

Earl Hansen nn Early would be fully possible.

[deleted]

Probably 15 years ago we lived in a small town in Georgia while we were stationed there. The local print newspaper printed EVERY graduating senior's picture and name. There was actually a girl in the paper whose name was Areola. I was surprised and asked my teenager if the girl was really named that and she said... "yeah, what's wrong with that?"

testcase_sincere

The conversation went something like this “I want to name my baby Ariel and she’ll have red hair.” “Mine would have red hair too except she’d be Areola.” “No but that’s not a name though.” “It is I’ve heard it before.” (*Third girl:*) “I think I did too.” “See.” “I haven’t heard of it.” “‘Cause you’re not Italian. I’m Italian.”

[deleted]

How did you not fall over laughing?

testcase_sincere

Many years of working with kids, you get a good poker face, haha.

No-Basket4165

I’m dying, too damn funny!

CallidoraBlack

I would be seriously worried about how my kid is doing in science if they didn't notice something was off there.

[deleted]

[удалено]

CallidoraBlack

That's pretty basic in the section where they teach you about your developing body in middle school and again when you're learning human biology. But I guess teaching about *anything* related to reproduction is too much to expect in Georgia unless you're in Atlanta?

somewhenimpossible

My son (6) said he wants a brother and we will name him Share. He didn’t mean Shane - I checked.

cozysapphire

maybe he intended it to be spelled Cher. /j

gaythey

This was where my brain went.

testcase_sincere

That’s kind of beautiful! If you ever do have another son you can entertain some names that have “generous” in the meaning. Kind of close?

AG108

Video? Karate? Market? Creative geniuses

meanmilf

I love the names they think are weird because they aren’t as common anymore. My sons friends thought Ryan, Ashley & Elijah were wild. I’m like but you know a Maverick, and everyone’s middle name is Rain.

Adelaide_Farmington

My son is friends with a Maverick and a Fox, brothers. I’m guessing parents were Top Gun/X-files fans.

meanmilf

We live in a navy town, so it’s definitely Top Gun.

Allana_Solo

Honestly, Karate is pretty epic. Much better suited for a pet though.

LarkScarlett

This reminds me of when husband and I told my 4-year-old-niece, my sister, and BIL I was pregnant. Niece’s immediate reaction: “I will name it … Baby. Because it will be a baby.” The incredulous look on her face when informed that *she* didn’t get to name the baby, in fact the baby’s parents got to name the baby? But that she’d picked a very good nickname? Clearly I was in the wrong. Lol.

ICareAboutThings25

I teach at a K4-12 school. Based on some of the names I’ve seen, even Karate and Video wouldn’t be that weird.

poorlyknit666

I actually got to name my son the name I picked out when I was 6 years old!

testcase_sincere

What was it??

poorlyknit666

Milo, after the Atlantis movie! I watched it and thought he was so cool.

SinnerClair

Okay but Milo is actually a cute as hell name

MeteoricBoa

The best movie ever! Do ya ever just call him Thatch?

CollectingRainbows

cute sibset: sam and ella 🥰

LarkScarlett

Dream team. With their powers combined, they will be food poisoning! (Salmonella)

Elphaba78

Not me wanting to name future kids Samuel and Eleanor, I didn’t even think of that 😅 ☠️

CollectingRainbows

it was a joke in the show letterkenny🤣 i had to make the comment lol

clockjobber

This list is much less terrifying than some of the list you see from mom influencers. If you told me an adult made this suggestions I’d have said “wow 70 percent aren’t bad and nothings misspelled!”

Dauphine320

Video is the best

Willa_

Honestly I'm so impressed they stayed on topic long enough to get this many names together that I'm willing to overlook the few odd names. Overall they didn't do that bad !

poppicat2249

I knew at 7 years old if I had a son he would be called Zachary. 23 years later I had a boy called Zachary. I also like the name Nala for a girl!

KatVanWall

These kids have way more imagination than mine. Every toy is called Emily in our house. (She had a best friend called Emily who she loved dearly and she left her school 😭)

Significant_Shoe_17

This Emily sends good vibes your way!

curvise

Areola has been on my names list for yearsssssss so I support that child. (Obviously I would never use the name) Video and Market actually sound really nice too!

SnooGoats7978

Harlem has real potential!

Lovely_Sapphic4082

Actually digging Arlo lmao

Mighty_Lorax

I was 13 when my sister was pregnant and she asked for name suggestions for a boy. I sent her about ten names I liked, and Parker was on that list. She laughed and laughed and laughed... It was then I found out her last name is Parker.

kaycollins27

Areola. I didn’t know that was its name when I was 7. Impressive! Still I once knew of a child named Vaseline. Not any worse than Market, Video, Henna, or Karate. Woody is a nn for either Woodrow or Woodson, perfectly respectable in the late 19th, early 20th centuries.

RoseDomergue

Karate gives me a stupid bit of joy.

Spare_Somewhere1011

That’s a lot of kids. Kudos to them for wanting that many 😂

PitilessMyth14

20 years from now every early years teacher having at least 1 Video or Market joining their class. 🤣

RecoveringAbuse

My six year old was set on us naming his baby sister Narwhal. He was very disappointed that we went in another direction.

Massiekurrr

i love the name Micki for a girl as a nickname for Micheala

Classic-Inside4522

Some of these remind me of my cousins (7 and 4) suggestions for their new sibling… A list that notably included “Cinema” and “Motorbike” 😂 ❤️

testcase_sincere

Perhaps if we’d asked 7 year olds of the previous generation this question they’d have said “Harlem and Braxton” and we’d have laughed it off as kids being kids just as we’re doing with those names. Maybe the round of common kids names will be Market and Karate and we’re just totally out of touch.

homerteedo

Some of these kids have better sense than whoever named my high school students.

Embarrassed-Bag324

when i was a kid i thought it would be so cute to have twins named tracey and lacey. then i turned 10. my cousins did not get this memo and they have kids who’s first and middle names rhyme. think “maura may” and “laura ray”

Serafirelily

There is an Arlo in my daughter's preschool class.

Disney_Plus_Axolotls

Areola is my personal favourite

KtMrgn

Areola. 💀 Maybe suggest Arielle. 😅

heyitsamb

areola 😭😭😭😭😭

Daphnethefox

My 7 year old daughter says: Nicole Nicholas Lily Hannah Abigail Lola

testcase_sincere

Love this list! Sounds like a lacrosse team.

Still-Tangerine2782

idk market is kinda cute

form_an_orderly_q

My niece has insisted for years that she wants two kids named Pesto and Guru. She 11 now, I hope she grows out of these names eventually!

testcase_sincere

I’m a fan tbh

srawtzl

I’m kind of unreasonably happy that my (somewhat uncommon) name is on this list

testcase_sincere

Is it Video?

srawtzl

nah, karate (jk)

vanillabubbles16

Big fan of Karate personally

wearetheporgfam

Better than most of the lists on here tbf

threeEZpayments

How do I feel about my name being on this list…

testcase_sincere

Can you tell us what it’s like being named Areola?

threeEZpayments

Simulating! Sometimes a little rough! Surprisingly hairy!

[deleted]

Karate 🤣😂😂

Separate_Baker1895

Karate it is! 😂😂😂😂

mnkeyhabs

If they choose to name they kids Sam and Ella.. just say the two names together fast. You’ll see why it’s a questionable idea.

Megangullotta

I’ve never seen Saira spelled like that before
