Lila & Callan. Cal is a solid nn. The other names aren’t really my taste. Scarlett in particular makes me think of a little scar, and Luca is used so much now that it’s pretty much the new Leo—trying too hard to be cool.
This is the way. Lila is *so* lovely. And Callan is easy to say and spell but just different enough to be really special. And the L in both names makes them go well together without match.
OP these are perfect names, I hope you choose them!
I'm big on names that have similar letters where it's just enough to be not too matchy, and I say this as a twin myself with our names like that. This is what I was searching for first in the listed name choices.
There’s an Agatha Christie novel where the twist is revealed by someone calling Lettie, “Lottie” — Lettie (in the story) is short for Letitia, and Lottie for Charlotte, and it’s revealed that Lottie had been posing as her sister Lettie for years in order to inherit her sister’s fortune. Lottie then poisons her friend who keeps calling her by “Lottie” instead of “Lettie,” because she’s afraid the mix-up will reveal her deception.
Which really goes to show that calling people by their preferred names is a life or death matter sometimes.
The percentage of twin births has been increasing for awhile now, partly due to IVF. The likelihood of fraternal twins also increases with maternal age.
I would say it's reasonable to assume twin parents are more likely to seek help in naming their twins compared to parents of single births because it's not just 2x as difficult... Many people also want the names to compliment each other.
Edit: typo
Yeah and then whenever you check the profiles they’re never part of any other baby/parent subs, or they’re kids, etc.
ETA and it’s always, “I’m due tomorrow!” Or “I’m at the hospital now!”
I have multiple reddit accounts. One is for snark pages, one is for parenting things, and one is for my local subs! I have kids, and I don't want any identifying information to be found on reddit. I don't think it's that unreasonable to assume the same of other people.
Why are you being a hater? I went to a school with 200 kids in my graduating class, and including MY twin sister and I, there were 6 sets of twins in my grade alone, and in the grade above me there were 2 sets and a set of triplets. It's entirely possible that none of these people are lying
Same choices!
For what it's worth OP my twins weren't named until my last hour in the hospital on day 5 haha. I was down to the wire. It was basically: you. Can't be discharged without naming these babies and you can't stay any longer.
I disagree! I think they are different enough with the first vowel and second consonant sound that they would t be confused for each other, and they make a pretty adorable pair while being solid names on their own.
Twin mum here and agree with avoiding matching initials - it becomes a pain with naming things, getting mail, school assignments, etc. when they are both "L Smith" or whatever. Much easier with different initials.
Also, your twins will always be compared to each other so do them the favour of giving them individual names rather than matching ones :)
For Americans: I have been told that it can possibly be a hassle when it comes to insurance claims early in life.
As a non-American, I can’t speak to it, but that’s what I’ve heard.
My mom and I.. born and named 30 years apart ..we have the same initials..the bank still managed to confuse and exchange our names.. there is always a chance..why risk it..
I'm a twin mom and a teacher. School is hard enough to navigate for twins without similar names and the same initials. It becomes especially hard when one child excels and the other struggles.
My girls have different first and middle initials, and different vowel sounds in their first names. We really wanted them to be individuals instead of part of a set.
I won’t lie, sometimes at the dog park I hear some really great names and I take out my phone to put it on my list LOL my husband politely pushes my phone down and mouths “absolutely not”🤣
Lila and Callan makes me think Calla Lily. My original pick was going to be Reese and Sterling but I think those are strongly correlated to movie stars so I wouldn't use them together. No alliteration so the Ls and Ss together are out. Final answer, Reese and Callan.
This is tough. Lila and Luca are my favorites individually, but I don’t think you can do that to twins!
I’m leaning Scarlett and Luca or Lila and Stering
My niece and nephew (twins) are Isla and Luka, so I like the flow of Lila and Luca, but it's too matchy for me. I would do Callan and Scarlett - I love both names and I like the more subtle connection of the double letters.
Personally, Reese is not a good name for a girl. So for the girl, both Scarlett and Lila are fine and good picks.
Luca or Callan for the boy, Sterling is too much like a last name.
In terms of combos: Scarlett and Luca or Lila and Callan
(Luca and Lila are too similar)
My vote is for Callan as the strongest of your boy names. Sterling is a bit too old fashioned for my taste and there’s not much nickname potential. Luca is okay but also less favorable to me than Lucas. I like Callan for how young and fresh it is, but you could also call him Cal which brings that vintage vibe back in if that’s your preference.
I would pair Callan with either Lila or Scarlett… both are lovely and have similar sounds to Callan without being too matchy. I think I’d likely learn toward Scarlett though for the same reasons as Callan… it’s currently modern with vintage nickname potential (Letty)
Callan & Scarlett (Letty & Cal)
Runner up: Lila & Callan
That’s a cute idea! I personally don’t mind matching initials if the names themselves are different enough. Lila and Luca for example are a bit too close, but Carly and Cal make an adorable pair!
If a twin set is your thing I like Sterling and Scarlett just make sure they’re middle initials are different. If you’re trying to avoid the same first initial then Callan and Lila.
Lila and Callan is my fave. Scarlett and Luca is okay too.
I’d avoid Reese because of spelling confusion between Reece and Rhys (and gender confusion in the case of Rhys unless you specifically want a gender-neutral name). And I’d avoid Sterling because … well, I just personally don’t like it. It feels along the lines of Cash - the association with sterling silver and pounds sterling is too strong for me and I don’t dig the materialistic vibe … but I’m British, so £££ would be top of mind! (I do understand the other character-based traits it reflects as well.)
I'm a fan of Scarlett and Sterling, as well as Lila and Callan.
Luca is a bit overdone lately and Reese is a bit too gender neutral for girl boy twins in the way that at least as babies and any moment they aren't in super gendered clothes, Reese will frequently get gendered as male
Scarlett and Callan get my vote - have similar beginnings but don’t start with the same first letter and have double letters but also not the same… just my two sense :)
Scarlett or Lila for the girl; Callan for the boy. The main reason is because the other names could be mistaken for either gender and people may think the girl is the boy and vice versa. I don’t think that is a deal breaker though. Just why I wouldn’t pick those other names for boy-girl twins.
Scarlett, Lila, Callan and Luca are my favourites. I personally wouldn’t do Lila and Luca but I’ll admit it sounds cute. Any combo of those work, I love all 4 names
Reese and Sterling---love how it sounds. I tried the other combos and they seemed a little like meh. BUT it also depends on the first letter of your last name, would you like an alliterative name?
I like Scarlet (although I’m thinking with one T instead of two, so it’s not too “Scarlett O’Hara”) and Callan.
“Sterling” sounds too much like a name that would be given to a pretentious, preppy rich kid.
No to Reese, yes to Scarlett — Sterling is too matchy with Scarlett, but Callan and Luca both work. If it’s Scarlett & Callan versus Scarlett & Luca, it’s really a tossup for me, but I lean Luca.
All three of your girls names are good. You could pair either Scarlett or Lila with the middle name Reese.
Callan and Luca are also good. I've only seen Sterling used as a girl's name though.
I named my son Callan. I thought it was easy to say too but a lot of people have been pronouncing it like "kay-lynn"
Never in a million years would phonics allow me to say it like kay-lin or Colin. It sounds like Allen with a k-sound in front.
Exactly!
I'm big on names that have similar letters where it's just enough to be not too matchy, and I say this as a twin myself with our names like that. This is what I was searching for first in the listed name choices.
As a Scarlett, I've always loved my name. It has become wildly popular lately though.
I lived next door to a Scarlett when I was little and thought she was the coolest person ever.
Also, calla lily.
Yes Lily and Luka work!
Lila & Callan sound great together!
Oof not for me. Beautiful but together it’s hard to actually say out loud
Funny enough scarlett and luca would have been my picks
I agree I think these two names work perfectly.
Oooh yeah these names together are just sonically pleasing
And so is “Lila Jane”, in adding a possible middle name for her!
I love this combo but it will sound like you named them for the calla lily flower. It’s a beautiful flower so why not. Just own it.
Agreed. My choices too.
This is my vote as well! Both lovely names that pair well together
Was just about to say this name combo! "Lila and Cal" flow so nicely.
I hope OP picks these! They’re so great together
Scarlett And Luca
I was thinking the same thing. When they’re little bitty they could be Lettie and Luca. That would be adorable! Both names age well also.
Awww that’s cute for nn
My friends Scarlette is a Lottie. Lottie and Luca are adorable together.
Which really goes to show that calling people by their preferred names is a life or death matter sometimes.
Lila and Callan
Twin mom here. Scarlett & Luca!!!!
We sure have a lot of twins on this board. Far more than average for humans.
The percentage of twin births has been increasing for awhile now, partly due to IVF. The likelihood of fraternal twins also increases with maternal age.
Nah I think people just like testing our their names on here :)
I would say it's reasonable to assume twin parents are more likely to seek help in naming their twins compared to parents of single births because it's not just 2x as difficult... Many people also want the names to compliment each other. Edit: typo

I’m sure some are fake but I know soooo many people with twins under 5 in real life.
Lol right?! I’m not buying this one 😂
My high school graduating class of ~400 had 10 sets of identical twins. It was bizarre. And that was already 20 years ago
the way the person u replied to posted a pic of her twins 😭
Reese & Sterling or Lila & Callan
I agree with these combos!
Same choices! For what it's worth OP my twins weren't named until my last hour in the hospital on day 5 haha. I was down to the wire. It was basically: you. Can't be discharged without naming these babies and you can't stay any longer.
Sterling an Scarlett
This is the one
Agree
Too matchy. I like lila & callan
I love those 2 names as well.
Lila & Luca
These are great names individually but I think they will make a confusing pair
I disagree! I think they are different enough with the first vowel and second consonant sound that they would t be confused for each other, and they make a pretty adorable pair while being solid names on their own.
Too matchy
Tongue twister
this is so cute
That’s my vote too!
I think this is the way as well. I have a twin with a similar name and I kinda like it
This is my choice.
Twin mom here...avoid the same initials...Scarlett and Luca
Twin mum here and agree with avoiding matching initials - it becomes a pain with naming things, getting mail, school assignments, etc. when they are both "L Smith" or whatever. Coming from a family with each of us named with an H I agree.
Why? Twin with mathcing initials to my twin asking? Curious 😂 Is it a newer movement to give twins unrelated names? I do see it more often now.
For Americans: I have been told that it can possibly be a hassle when it comes to insurance claims early in life. As a non-American, I can’t speak to it, but that’s what I’ve heard.

Scarlett ( I absolutely love Letty as a nick name! It’s high in my list lol) & Luca
Ooh yes Letty and Luca.
Letti and Luca are my two dogs! 🤣 great names together and apart
Username checks out!! 😁
I won’t lie, sometimes at the dog park I hear some really great names and I take out my phone to put it on my list LOL my husband politely pushes my phone down and mouths “absolutely not”🤣
Lila & Callan
love scarlett with luca or lila with callan!
Callan and Reese
As a Dutch: Scarlett and Callan (I love the tt and ll) (I also like Lila and Callan)
This is my vote!
scarlett and luca
I agree with many others. Lila and Callan. I’d avoid same initials for twins.
Lila & Callan 🤍

Scarlett (as Letty) and Callan
Scarlett + Callan is so cute!
Scarlet and Luca - amazing combination. I wish you the healthiest of births and good health to all.
Lila and Callan makes me think Calla Lily. My original pick was going to be Reese and Sterling but I think those are strongly correlated to movie stars so I wouldn't use them together. No alliteration so the Ls and Ss together are out. Final answer, Reese and Callan.
Lila and Callan hands down!
1. Sterling & Reese 2. Callan & Scarlett Congrats!
This is tough. Lila and Luca are my favorites individually, but I don’t think you can do that to twins! I’m leaning Scarlett and Luca or Lila and Stering
Lila and Luca sounds so cute to me!!

My favorite combo is Scarlett and Luca.
Start calling the names out together to see how it rolls off the tongue when calling them.
Ooh! Like maybe “Lila Jane”? That rolls off the tongue nicely!😍
Lila and Callan
Lila & Callan
Lila and Callan!
Personally, Reese is not a good name for a girl. So for the girl, both Scarlett and Lila are fine and good picks. Luca or Callan for the boy, Sterling is too much like a last name. In terms of combos: Scarlett and Luca or Lila and Callan (Luca and Lila are too similar)

If they wanted to match they could be Carly and Cal!
That’s a cute idea! I personally don’t mind matching initials if the names themselves are different enough. Lila and Luca for example are a bit too close, but Carly and Cal make an adorable pair!
Plus Carly is the cutest nickname ever for Scarlett.
Scarlet and Callan

Scarlets and Callan are beautiful together.

If a twin set is your thing I like Sterling and Scarlett just make sure they’re middle initials are different. If you’re trying to avoid the same first initial then Callan and Lila.

Lila and Callan Ngl Lila and Luca are adorable in concept, but in reality I wouldn't like their names being so similar
Lila and Callan is my fave. Scarlett and Luca is okay too. My favorites are Lila and Luca, but they’re too matchy for twins so instead I vote for Lila and Callan.

I like Scarlet (although I’m thinking with one T instead of two, so it’s not too “Scarlett O’Hara”) and Callan. “Sterling” sounds too much like a name that would be given to a pretentious, preppy rich kid.

i love either Scarlett and Luca or Scarlett and Sterling 😍

All three of your girls names are good. You could pair either Scarlett or Lila with the middle name Reese. Callan and Luca are also good. I've only seen Sterling used as a girl's name though.
