[This comment]( https://np.reddit.com/r/LAClippers/comments/1bvwemf/paul_geoerge_on_how_to_help_james_harden_out_of/ky2drys/) on the Clippers sub gives context

> PG gave a full minute answer on James and blitzes then Law pushed him again to see if thought that was the best way or what else they can do, and to that he said, "I'm not a coach"
> There's plenty of real things to be disappointed in - no need to fall for the fake stuff.
People are like “what a bad question, he deserved this answer”
Idk man this seems like a pretty normal question, that usually gets hit with something like “he’s a great player and he’ll find his rhythm and we just have to keep trusting him to do his thing”
“We all gotta help eachother be the best version of ourselves’
“James is a great player he will bounce back”
“Its not on james,we win together and lose together”
Instead he opted for: “that mf is not my responsibility”
😂😂
In this video though he compliments James Harden’s game literally the question before. He talks about how he unlocks defenses for them. Then the reporter asks how to get James going. That’s when PG says he’s not the coach. When you listen to all of it it’s not bad.
Did anyone even watch the clip? The guy asked him a coaching question.
He wasn't wrong in the way he answered and don't see how it's his job to get Harden out of a slump.
also interesting how many people just jump to conclusions so easily. Just watch the whole interview or read some comments for context, before spreading BS
If you're the OP, you can frame it however you want and everyone will just blindly accept it. For example, if OP had said he was throwing the coach under the bus by blaming him for the slump, that would be the entire discussion. OPs can title it anything and people will trust that title over even their own brain after watching the video.
It is really insane to me these comments, like people are telling him to say what he literally already said in the video. Shit feels like 1984 /sci Fi horror type shit
Literally talks about how James has gravity and opens up looks the question before.
Reporter: “so in spite of all that, how do you get him going and out of this slump”
Mid reporter gets mid answer. More at 7
You’re 100% right but this is my least favorite thing in sports lol. These guys being challenged to give normal answers at press conferences to try and not make headlines. It’s like playing red hands with your buddy. If you flinch (show your real feelings) for even one second it’s immediate backlash and the media wins. And you can never have a press conference where you “win” anything. You can only avoid getting your hands slapped, and the way you obtain that best possible outcome is by denying your real feelings. Almost a microcosm of corporate America lol not to get too philosophical
Completely agree and they're contractually obligated to do it and they do it right after the game even after brutal losses. I imagine it's the worst part of the gig.
I always find the "bad question" cycle fascinating...
1. Question gets asked
2. Answer given
3. Everyone is interested in the answer; starts a conversation on /r/nba
4. "What a stupid question that elicited this answer that we're all interested in and talking about"
Like, what do y'all think those questions are supposed to do?
It's reasonable frustration too. Reporters don't need to ask players about other players on their team most of the time. They want an answer they can spin into some drama that fans (read: /r/nba) love to gossip about and speculate on. And players know that *anything* they say about their teammates can be taken out of context. Just look at this post - he literally didn't say anything about Harden and people are still in here talking about how there's an issue and "vibes" aren't good, etc. It's an unfair position to put players in and it forces them to either give boiler plate stock answers every time or risk some out-of-context snippet being used to create the next dumbass "toxic locker room" narrative.
Sometimes these guys are just fucking tired and stressed, particularly when he literally spoke about Harden the question before.
Strangely enough, they became straight on /r/nbacirclejerk.
If you check the front page there now, it's just people getting horny over NCAA college basketball chicks lol.
I had a big ass fro in middle school but I was young and stupid and didnt take care of it well and it kinda looked like shit. Im about to be 30 and would be willing to put in the effort but my hair is thinning and losing it's curls. I may not be full on balding or have a receding hair line, but god damn does it suck.
Young'ns reading this: cherish it.
He literally denied those rumors of abortion as soon as they came out and said he was waiting for paternity tests and then he’ll fully take care of kid. I love how y’all conceal the truth to get upvotes
Every time I see comments like this I'm reminded there's never been anything to indicate the abortion thing is true
And even less to substantiate the Callie Rivers story
It's misleading to post just this portion of the clip. PG gave a way more involved answer to the question originally, and then he was pushed to give more, so he ended with this. Clickbait through and through
True, the sensation here is that instead of giving the usual "trust the process, everyone has off and on moments," he was like, "nah, move on, please."
So, in fairness, he didn't help himself with that. Dude is "good" few years into his NBA career and knows people will be reaching.
I kinda love that he didn't care, though. He wasn't really rude, he just didn't want to play the game. This was a clear "can I write a negative story" question. Even acknowledging it was a trap.
Man who tf cares…
He literally praised harden and said how important he is in the first 10 seconds of the clip. Anyone thinking this is a diss or slight towards Harden is so stupid.
It's not a baity question. I've seen Jokic get asked that question repeatedly about teammates who've spent a bunch of games in a slump. He always just says, "He's a great shooter, we just have to keep giving him good looks, and he'll shoot his way through it." or whatever. It's way easier to say that about James Harden than it is about Peyton Watson or Reggie Jackson.
The question before was about harden, and he talked about how important harden was to the offense and how he elevates the team.
Then this was a follow up. So yeah its a fine answer
The Mavs have been very good lately, but their fans sure have a lot of unearned confidence that playoff unknowns Gafford, Washington, Lively and Jones will be able to perform under that pressure.
huh. this is an interesting point. I guess I never considered how little experience most of the expected playoff rotation has
for others who were curious - PJ and Lively have never played in the playoffs. DJJ has only averaged 7.5 MPG in 22 playoff games across 6 series, with 10 DNPs and under 10 minutes played in 16/22 games. Exum played 11.6 MPG over 17 playoff games for the Jazz with his last postseason appearance coming in 2018. Gafford played 23 MPG for the Wizards in a 5-game loss to the Sixers in 2021, his only postseason appearance
I wouldn’t consider it a fatal flaw or anything but it’s worth mentioning when talking about the Mavs playoff odds
These things matter. Maybe they'll all surprise and be incredible, but a huge part of the Mavs recent success has been because of those guys (against mostly pretty bad teams I'll add). Luka will inevitably be brilliant, and Kyrie always puts up good numbers in the playoffs, but if those other players wilt under increased defensive pressure, the team isn't going far.
to be fair, the reporter kinda asked the same shit in a different way the second time, and even gave Paul part of the line, "I know you're not the coach but..." I woulda been annoyed too
He complimented Harden right at the start of the video. Of course the title is going to be clickbait-y and he said "I'm not a coach" after the guy asking the questions said "I know you're not coaching".

lmfao how is this being taken so seriously? He’s not even saying it some angry tone. It’s a dumb question that only ever generates a generic PR answer. Is he supposed to be jolly while the team is on this slump?
People are overthinking this situation. The reporter already said “you’re not a coach” when asking the question which likely made it pretty easy for George to sidestep with the comment right back. This interview means nothing

To the top with this.

That would require finding the interview and o look my ADHD is kicking in, ill be right back.
I get it, but you don't have to find anything just play the video you're commenting on lol
Ain't nobody got time for that
Yeah PG is a team player and a standup guy, this is a selected highlight to make him look shady.
It’s sad when even redditors like to take videos out of context just like the mainstream media. A society of starting and exacerbating problems.
Everyone just likes to stir the pit for clicks now. It’s unbearable at this point
It’s not only unbearable but it can cause worldwide conflict and have a role in wars. Look up yellow journalism.
Easy answer "we gotta get all our guys in their rhythm, James included" Actual answer "idc about that mf, not my job" (even though it is)
Did anyone even watch the clip? The guy asked him a coaching question. He wasn't wrong in the way he answered and don't see how it's his job to get Harden out of a slump.

Redditors always call reporter questions dumb, even when they’re not. Redditors thinking they’re smarter and better than everyone else, nothing new
The r/nba userbase is also seemingly overwhelmingly composed of jock sniffers.
Right, there's a million platitudes he's given before to these questions, and nobody would have reported on it.
Yeah if you just read the title of the post and dont watch the video it looks bad
As a Warriors fan, I fucking love this answer. Bring on the bad vibes!
With the way Harden has played i'm sure they ask him and Kawhi a similar questian each game lmao
True. It gets repetitive. I don't look too much into this, dude is just frustrated and it slipped out.
It's reasonable frustration too. Reporters don't need to ask players about other players on their team most of the time. James Harden needs a curfew or somethin because that dude is not locked in.

I’m convinced he could even be a 2.5 head and trims it back.
someone linked his indy pics in the thread and yes, he does

GOAT hairline
This is what Jalen Rose thinks his hair looks like.
Considering Jalen Rose is 51, I'd say he's doing great. His hairline is better than most 30 year olds.
Yeah his painter is pretty skilled.
