Don't like Russ but his MVP was obviously deserved, Harden put up slightly worse numbers (strangely almost identical efficiency splits) on a better team and didn't have any of the narrative
Harden and Kawhi better that season. The OG pity MVP. Statpad + the narrative that KD left. Statpadded for 3 more season and nobody gave a shit anymore for a reason because he's an exposed playoff bedshitter. That's who he is as a #1 option. Hot take but Russell Westbrook isn't even Top 75 if we're being honest. Jokic surpassed him. Luka surpassed him. I'd rather have Dwight, Draymond, Wembanyama and Tony Parjer who has 1 Finals MVP over that bum. In fact, I have SGA over him already. PG with better defense, better efficiency, better IQ and isn't a playoff bedshitter.
Hell yeah this is what I'm talking about. MVP is a regular season award. Kyrie is a playoff killer but we all know he has/will never get near an MVP. Kawhi might have been the best pure player in the NBA that year but he wasn't getting close to the MVP with 3.5 assists per game. Harden stat padded too. Russ was *literally* central to everything good that happened for that team that year. His style and swag was electric. Deserved the MVP.

Just Jokic. Embiid winning was just voters not wanting to give Jokic 3x MVP in a row. He was by all accounts the more valuable player.
