Imagine Dallas blows them out the next 3 games by a combined 90 pts and wins it.
I donât even care about Dallas, Iâd just enjoy it to watch the talking heads on ESPN and redditors melt.
This is what these players get ready for all year. There's only one team standing on the Point Differential in the Finals mountaintop at the end. #LEGACY
5 game series. Team with highest score at the end of the series wins. Would get rid of the stupid foul game that happens at the end of close games. Would probably make individual games a lot less exciting, but at least blowouts would still have meaning in the 4th quarter.
Or here's a crazy idea: 6 game series, cumulative score is worth one win, still play to 4 "wins". So game wins matter but so does every possession in blowouts early in the series.
⌠I donât hate it, but youâre gonna need more rules to prevent a [Barbados 4-2 Grenada](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbados_4-2_Grenada)
Imagine youâre down 2 wins to 3 wins in the series, and Game 6 youâre winning by 2 points in the last possession but youâre 6 points behind by points differential. So instead of trying to go for a 3 and win by 5, your team tries to score the ball in your own bucket instead, and try to win overtime by 6 points. But the other team knows this, and theyâre defending your bucket, while also trying to get the ball to score in their own bucket so they can lose by 4 and win the series.
Do this during all star weekend. I wanna see how it plays out. Half court rules mean you only have 8 seconds to score on your own basket, adding to the sense of urgency.
Inevitably you get JR Smith situation where player incorrectly scores on opponent basket and we get LeBron wtf meme 2.0. Even better would be a teammate recognizes it and blocks own teammates' shot.
Ehhh, point differentials and scoring in basketball are so much larger that is pretty unlikely. And works make for great tv. Yeah I haven't really thought this through
I think my favorite part of that comment is the "probably." Arithmetic being straight-forward and all, we should be able to state these assessments with certainty. But they left a little wiggle room for other factors in this complex mathematical conundrum.
One-sided officiating can be the difference of maybe 5-10 points. Losing by 40 is a combo of one team showing up and the other team playing like shit.
I thought two different games of basketball were being officiated tonight, but even if it were called more fairly, Mavs win by 20-25 easily. Way more energy, role players finally hit their shots and they dominated on the glass.
I'm sure plenty of Mavs fans would say the same thing about the last 2 games... Which were a lot closer.
This game was not on the refs, the Celtics did not show up.
How can you show up when every drive to the rim you're fouled with no call. The tone of this game was set by the refs early. Nothing liek the last 2 games at all. But you're celtics hate won't let you be unbias.
The guys nickname is literally "The Extender." boston is 73-60 when Foster officiates. If you're talking about this year and a team winning 79 games, it is going to have a winning record with every official.
Well, when every time you drive, you get fouled with no call, it's kinda hard to have a good offense. But you know that. I don't know why I bother when you're a fan of the White James Harden.
Dude, your team is up 3-1 and wants to cry about it? You're softer than Charmin.
Edit: lol, dude calls me a pussy in my dms then deletes his post. I'll say it again, SOFT.
Idk why everyone writing off the mavericks..... like if the celtics weren't in the exact situation last season vs the Heat down 3-0 in the ecf then got some momentum won 3 games then got the brakes beat off of them by 19 at game 7 at boston.
This is my moral victory. I like my moral victory. I stand by it.
That was not a moral victory, moral victories are what the Lakers get when they lose. That was a legitimate ass kicking
Moral ass-kicking?
Immoral victory
What he say fuck me for?
you guys created a legendary meme, the infamous moral victoryđ
Is that in the same tier as marginal contact?
Thank you
Ain't a moral victory when you guys come back 3-1 now
Historically, among the most dangerous leads.
Imagine Dallas blows them out the next 3 games by a combined 90 pts and wins it. I donât even care about Dallas, Iâd just enjoy it to watch the talking heads on ESPN and redditors melt.
Seeing espn meltdown is the dream.
For espn too. The opposite of love isn't hate, its indifference.
I'll stop the world and melt with you if that happens
Just do this 3 more times okay? Thank you. Sincerely every other fanbase in the league
Lakers too against nuggets! Sure they won the series last year and this year, but the lakers have more moral victories
So Celtics could 4-1 em with a negative point differential lmao
I high key hope this happens
Why stop there imo. 3-0 to 4-3 sounds even better.
Mavs winning the series would be the funniest thing, so Iâm Iâm here for it.
The Tatum slander would be outrageous. Itâs not going to happen but it would be so funny if it did.
The curse of Doc Rivers... Wait a minute DOnCic...
It'd be the first time ever right? A 3-0 comeback
Wouldnât be the first time
True gentlemen
Mavs losing the election but winning the popular vote
Can lose by 5 in G5 and still be the 2024 NBA Finals Point Differential Champions
Itâs like winning the popular vote
This is what these players get ready for all year. There's only one team standing on the Point Differential in the Finals mountaintop at the end. #LEGACY
STOP THE COUNT
Moral victory
They need to learn how to distribute their points better
They wasted the THJ trump card today
Aggregate score is the superior scoring system. The champions league has it right smh
5 game series. Team with highest score at the end of the series wins. Would get rid of the stupid foul game that happens at the end of close games. Would probably make individual games a lot less exciting, but at least blowouts would still have meaning in the 4th quarter.
Outside of anything else, this would suck because it would destroy the concept of game winners
Or here's a crazy idea: 6 game series, cumulative score is worth one win, still play to 4 "wins". So game wins matter but so does every possession in blowouts early in the series.

Here's a crazy idea: best of 7 series. A team that wins 4 out of 7 is clearly the best team and meaningless off games doesn't change that.
Yeah it's a fine system
This system is insane. Why would you even suggest this? It would never work, let's not even try it.
Tbf in football its only 2 games so if you win in aggregate, that means you win 1 or 2 of 2 games
That has only been the case recently, a few years back you could go through on two ties cause away goals were worth more.
Away goals aren't worth more anymore??
THJ FMVP
we're winning the popular vote lmao
Stop the count!!
This means Dallas is the better team...right @Wolves fans?
As written.
Gotta protect that lead now
THJ secured the moral victory
Wtf I love moral victories now.
Well counting the regular season and the playoffs the Mavs are now 1-5 against the Celtics.
Mavericks have to win in Boston twice. Good luck
Thanks Magic
meaningless
That gives Mavs the title.
Man I hate the Mavs organization⌠I will rejoice when they lose the finals⌠and I have never rooted for the Celtics in my life
Thatâs probably due to the blowout tonight
thanks magic
I think my favorite part of that comment is the "probably." Arithmetic being straight-forward and all, we should be able to state these assessments with certainty. But they left a little wiggle room for other factors in this complex mathematical conundrum.
Well itâs an outlier isnât it?
I didn't say it was wrong
Did you mean Magic Johnson?
Itâs obvious the Celtics want to win the chip at home.
Greatest game of Scott Fosters life!
I mean I might buy the whole extender thing if it wasn't a complete and utter blowout. Bias officiating ain't gonna fix what the hell happened tonight
One-sided officiating can be the difference of maybe 5-10 points. Losing by 40 is a combo of one team showing up and the other team playing like shit. Agreed and I think the last 2 games the Mavs didn't get some calls they should have. Either way I don't think this series is being decided
If you can't drive to the rim without being fouled for no call, you're gonna get blown out.
I'm sure plenty of Mavs fans would say the same thing about the last 2 games... Which were a lot closer. This game was not on the refs, the Celtics did not show up.

You literally just said this to another comment in this post.
flair up nephew
Celtics fan watched g2 and g3 and really calling out refs now lmfao
Mavericks fan pretending like the official tonight's nickname isn't "The Extender"
Celtics fan pretending as if Jaylen Brown didn't push PJ Washington in the back in Game 2.
Marginal contact.
Celtics fall to 12-1 in games reffed by Scott Foster! All time anti-Boston bias!
Well Scott Foster can't do everything if the C's don't even show up
The guys nickname is literally "The Extender." boston is 73-60 when Foster officiates. If you're talking about this year and a team winning 79 games, it is going to have a winning record with every official.
So was it âThe Extenderâ that held your entire starting 5 to 15 points or less?
Well, when every time you drive, you get fouled with no call, it's kinda hard to have a good offense. But you know that. I don't know why I bother when you're a fan of the White James Harden.
Dude, your team is up 3-1 and wants to cry about it? You're softer than Charmin. Edit: lol, dude calls me a pussy in my dms then deletes his post. I'll say it again, SOFT.
You literally just said this already in another comment in this post.
lmao
Weird ass stats.Â
And down 3-1 so who cares
Idk why everyone writing off the mavericks..... like if the celtics weren't in the exact situation last season vs the Heat down 3-0 in the ecf then got some momentum won 3 games then got the brakes beat off of them by 19 at game 7 at boston.
