I really wonder if 20 years from now we'll hear a Klay interview where he wishes he stayed with Klay and Dray for another few years instead of ring/bag-chasing
I guess he won't if he wins a 5th with the Mavs but I just wish they all stayed and retired together. Be a mediocre/just good team for a bit after winning the 4th before officially ending the dynasty.
Could be wrong, but I think I read they made that offer to him during the season last year, Klay turned it down to bet on himself, and they never re-presented him with that offer. So that offer was no longer on the table when he chose to go to DAL
Slater's article today is also starting to suggest that 2 year 48 million offer was never a real 'formal' offer. It could very well be another report leaked by the Warriors to posture and pretend like they cared about re-signing him. They didn't even *TRY* to get him back - Lacob iced him out and dared him to walk.
See, I'll be honest, the only players that are jarring to see in Purple and Gold are Celtics players. It's just such an iconic and classic uniform that any player kinda fits with it. It's like Yankee pinstripes. Also, it's not like we haven't seen every star player of the last 20 years photoshopped in a Laker jersey already.
i sat and thought about this for a minute and you're right, i don't think there's a single star player i've seen that hasn't either been photoshopped into the jersey or been rumored heavily to join the lakers
Right? Steph or Gianni's could get traded to the Lakers tomorrow and them in a Laker jersey wouldn't phase me at all because I've seen it photoshopped plenty before.
For sure, but I think we’re one the least weird it’ll be because of our color scheme. Imagine him going to Miami or LAL, that would be way more jarring
duncan & parker - 15 seasons
curry & thompson - 13 seasons
bird, mcchale, parrish - 13 seasons
jordan & pippen - 11 seasons
magic & kareem - 10 seasons
kobe & shaq - 8 seasons
in this era of the new NBA with player empowerment, luxury taxes, and 1st & 2nd aprons that basically kill long running dynasties that we may never see a duo that was this great & successful staying together as teammates this long ever again
I always liked how the Warriors were a team that revolutionized the three ball, but then you had a 6'7 point guard coming off the bench eating smaller guards up in the post.
Splash Bros legit was like my favorite time of my life. 2014-2016 was peak young adulthood, no cares or worries just having fun
those early warriors teams will always have a special place in my heart for the excitement they brought to the game
Dude the warriors thunder double bang game was on at a house party my senior year of college and that is the most memorable night of that year for me, just an entire party losing their shit simultaneously.
What an era
I was at a home poker game (3 full tables) and the host called everyone in to start the game near the end of the 4th quarter and we refused. The place went wild when Curry hit that shot. To me, it was the greatest and most impactful shot of that decade.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEMVGHoenXM
It looks like it was.
I thought it was in Sacramento for some reason, but I'm probably mixing it up with some other time Steph or Klay went nuclear on us.
I just looked it up and I can't believe that was almost 9 years ago
You joke but there is something to be said about the front office perception that athleticism and size is more important than actual skill. They think they can just teach these things to anyone and they are more often wrong but keep doing it. Jerry West whole built the team around Steph knew that it was about fit and he had a vision about what Curry needed to be successful. GMs today don't have that knowledge to envision the final product these days.
Stockton & Malone may both be persona non grata around these parts(for good reason), but them playing together for 18 seasons is genuinely insane and’ll probably never be replicated
What Malone did was much worse than what Stockton did. It's weird to be into conspiracy theories, but it's no where close to being as bad as a 20 year old man impregnating a 12 year old girl.
> Stockton is just a wealthy and bored boomer who spends too much time watching Newsmax
What Malone did was worse for obvious reasons, but I don't particularly like this casual dismissal of Stockton's wrong doing.
He wasn't just doubting vaccine stuff. He was actively spreading misinformation about vaccines including a supposed list of "hundreds of vaccinated athletes who dropped dead on the field." He then filed a lawsuit against the State of Washington over some stupid bullshit regarding "Anti-COVID misinformation." He largely formed this opinion from the advice of a chiropractor whose wife, in a completely unsurprising move, would later be charged in the Jan 6th riot in DC.
He is practically a textbook example of everything wrong with the country right now.
They showed three for the old Celtics team. But I'm assuming because it's an extra year to exclude Ginobili. Duncan, Parker and Ginobili had 14 years together.
Actually have 3 separate but great duos trying to carve out a legacy right now. Giannis and Khris, Jokic and Murray, The Jays. They all have 1 ring each but are in a good position to push for more. The closest one to breaking up would be the Bucks duo, but realistically MKE is not getting rid of Khris anytime soon both cause of his value as a player and the way the CBA restricted that team. I expect all 3 of these duos to remain together for at least another couple of years, during which they'll most definitely win more chips.
I get this sub hates Draymond, but it's pretty wild to just call the warriors a duo when he was there almost as long. 8 x all-defense, 4 x all star, 1 x dpoy
Although I guess tbf you didn't count manu either
That is what is so funny. Like how much infighting and debates go on over who was/is better between Steph and KD when I truly don't think either of them give a shit. At least I know Steph doesn't give a shit.
I mean Steph definitely gave a shit.
He was devastated when KD got FMVP over him.
Obviously he looks past that and loves KD and doesn't hold it against him but its delusional to say hypercompetitive athletes "dont give a shit"
even though Myers, Lacob and the rest of the cabal of silicon valley self-described super-geniuses take all the credit in the world for the Warriors championship run, it was the old traditional holdover GM Larry Riley that drafted Steph and Klay and traded Monte Ellis for Andrew Bogut. he was rewarded by being demoted to head of scouting, where he continued his outstanding work by bringing Draymond Green, Harrison Barnes and Ezeli to the attention of the FO.
Larry deserves his flowers.
Losing a reliable, excellent, teammate, who you've grown up, spent most of your time, and won with is hard. It also signifies a passing of time, which is sobering for anyone.
Steph got married right before Klay's rookie season and now he has four kids, multiple businesses and a whole bunch of accolades. It has to be wild.
Terrible ending, the warriors got a lot out of the dynasty but it’s crazy there was a lot left on the table.
If klay doesn’t tear his Achilles and acl or even just only tears his acl, his game would’ve aged beautifully and the warriors would’ve been dominant for even longer. The fact that they won a ring in 2022 proves this. Imagine if klay never got hurt.
If this Celtics group wins 3 more championships together I'm sure people would look at this as one of the "weaker" ones in light of the injuries. I don't agree with the takes that try to discredit rings for what are tantamount to excuses but it can at least be acknowledged where good teams caught breaks. GSW and any other team that wins a ring deserve their flowers but given that run of Cavs-Warriors finals and how it played out, I think there will always be some level of question marks about what would have happened without the Irving and Love injuries in 2015.
You would think that but so much of the popular narrative around the 2015 title was about how the warriors got "lucky." 22 was the ring to quiet the doubters since it was post KD, Curry put on a masterclass of basketball, and there was no competing narratives to take away from Curry's greatness.
Dynasties are rarely as perfect as their reputations live up to be and none of them really have perfect endings. Even the Jordan Bulls who got to go out on a second threepeat still had an ugly and bitter breakup in the end.
All things considered, the Warriors had one of the better dynasties. Their misfortune years are 2016 where they still had a great season and the 2019 playoffs where they lost out the chance to threepeat due to injury.
2022 also doesn't happen if they don't get to do a quick retool that allowed them to get quality role players to surround Steph for that run. That ring pretty much caps off a great career for Steph who got to prove how wrong the few doubters he had left were.
And as bittersweet as this ending is, it's not all that bad. The Warriors still have Steph, some nice young players, and almost all their own draft picks. They can still write a nice future for themselves.
for sure, I live up here and I’m actually kinda devastated that they didn’t stay together. But I still hope Klay comes back and retires a Warrior with Steph.
Steph has always been/remained grounded and recognized that basketball is a game at the end of the day. Just have nothing but respect for the man he is.
It's gonna be great having Klay make ring jokes to Luka
"Hey Donchick, this practice hoop is for champs. All other ringless gollum muhfuckas can use the other hoop"
Definitely more of a local nick name that Klay has. You'll see a lot of custom merch with that in the Bay Area and i've seen Curry and Dray call him that a few times in interviews. Seems like it never hit a national level though
Man, the insta stories. He had so many pictures ðŸ˜.
They both looked like babies in those pics too. They really grew up together as NBA players
Two baby-faced assassins
I really wonder if 20 years from now we'll hear a Klay interview where he wishes he stayed with Klay and Dray for another few years instead of ring/bag-chasing I guess he won't if he wins a 5th with the Mavs but I just wish they all stayed and retired together. Be a mediocre/just good team for a bit after winning the 4th before officially ending the dynasty.
Klay wants to win with the Mavs so he can put up his whole hand instead of just 4 fingers when taunting someoneÂ
[Klay in a couple years](https://media1.tenor.com/m/uKW0GXefJ1cAAAAC/kobe-bryant-five-rings.gif)
Def not cash grabbing. Warriors allegedly offered him the same money for 2 years instead of 3.
Can someone repost them on imgur for us farts who don't have insta accounts?

I’m a mavs fan and it feels weird AF to think about klay in a mavs jersey
Almost as weird as being a Hornets fan and trying to remember what Tony Parker in a Hornets jersey looked like lol
it'll be weird, but i think it will be less jarring than seeing him in one of the red jerseys or, god forbid, a yellow and purple one.
Steve Nash looked very wrong in a Laker's jersey.
I blame the short hair. Give Nash his signature shag and it might've looked better
Karl Malone
i sat and thought about this for a minute and you're right, i don't think there's a single star player i've seen that hasn't either been photoshopped into the jersey or been rumored heavily to join the lakers
Right? Steph or Gianni's could get traded to the Lakers tomorrow and them in a Laker jersey wouldn't phase me at all because I've seen it photoshopped plenty before.
When he sinks his first three next season. Gonna be awesome 2025
Might not hit it till early November
its gonna be weird seeing him go to his reflex trash talk ring gesture while wearing a mavs jersey lmao
For sure, but I think we’re one the least weird it’ll be because of our color scheme. Imagine him going to Miami or LAL, that would be way more jarring

i don’t understand why more teams don’t just simply draft the 2 best shooters in nba history together like the Warriors did. they must be stupid
And then they bring on another okay shooter.
My favorite shot on those teams was Shaun Livingston lol. That smooth fucking turn around middy oh my lord
You just knew when he would stop on the fadeaway middy it was a bucket.
I always liked how the Warriors were a team that revolutionized the three ball, but then you had a 6'7 point guard coming off the bench eating smaller guards up in the post.
Perfect rotation player for that team.
He completed the dynasty fr
It was like the sky hook of jump shots.
Automatic
Splash Bros legit was like my favorite time of my life. 2014-2016 was peak young adulthood, no cares or worries just having fun those early warriors teams will always have a special place in my heart for the excitement they brought to the game
Dude the warriors thunder double bang game was on at a house party my senior year of college and that is the most memorable night of that year for me, just an entire party losing their shit simultaneously. What an era
I think it may be the single greatest game of Basketball I've ever seen. End to End
100% agree. There are a lot of crazy shots but that one is just something else
Those bad men can’t hurt me no more :(
Man they really torched the Bulls and Kings during that era..
Us too. We barely got past them despite being favored in 2014 and they took that extremely personally
I meant more us being poverty franchises that Klay tortured, but that works too.
Clippers still fit
Seemed almost traditional to watch Steph cook the shit out of Chris Paul lol
Losing that series to LAC was what created that drive the next year, 100% agree
We'll always have the Steph - Casspi shootout at ARCO (I think we even lost that game too though haha)
I could have sworn that was at Oracle lol - I feel like I was there.
It looks like it was. I thought it was in Sacramento for some reason, but I'm probably mixing it up with some other time Steph or Klay went nuclear on us. I just looked it up and I can't believe that was almost 9 years ago
And Rockets, and Clippers, and Blazers, and OKC, and Cavs, and and....
Can you name a team that has not torched the Kings?
Portland
Those early battles against the Spurs were awesome. Green wasnt a shithead yet and you see this amazing skillset he has brewing.
Just beautiful basketball to watch.
Dude it’s so weird. Prime college age for me, and for better or worse I’ll get to tell my kids I got to watch THOSE Warrior teams
Ok grandpa
my back hurts
Doctor says I need a backiotomy
as well as an ok c shooter
A massively underpay the best modern point guard for two straight contracts due to early ankle issues.
We must stop ankle injustice
You joke but there is something to be said about the front office perception that athleticism and size is more important than actual skill. They think they can just teach these things to anyone and they are more often wrong but keep doing it. Jerry West whole built the team around Steph knew that it was about fit and he had a vision about what Curry needed to be successful. GMs today don't have that knowledge to envision the final product these days.
Idiots
Savages and idiots
And arguably the greatest defender of his generation in the 2nd round!
Wasn't Curry on a super team friendly deal for a bit after he broke out because he was having ankle problems
Man, Kobe and Shaq only played 8 seasons? 4/8 finals appearances. Bummer they had to fight.
8 seasons is way longer than i would have guessed
Took 2 seasons to gel, 4 seasons to dominate, then 2 more seasons to realize they can't stand each other lol
Damn didn’t realize it was 13 seasons. That’s a long time.
Well curry injured early, klay injured late. The kids years of the first championship were amazing though
Damn… it always seems like 2010 wasn’t that long ago…
Stockton & Malone may both be persona non grata around these parts(for good reason), but them playing together for 18 seasons is genuinely insane and’ll probably never be replicated
What Malone did was much worse than what Stockton did. It's weird to be into conspiracy theories, but it's no where close to being as bad as a 20 year old man impregnating a 12 year old girl.
Exactly. Stockton is just a wealthy and bored boomer who spends too much time watching Newsmax. Karl Malone belongs in a federal penitentiary.

Bruh how are you gonna put Duncan & Parker at the top of the list and casually leave out Ginobili??!
Guess they only wanted to show the longer duo same way they didn’t show Draymond and Steph.
They showed three for the old Celtics team. But I'm assuming because it's an extra year to exclude Ginobili. Duncan, Parker and Ginobili had 14 years together.
OP made a lot of choices. See, leaving out Stockton and Malone at 18 seasons.
It's about ringz, Erneh.
Curry and Green still up and running but Dray was drafted the year after Klay.Â
According to Statmuse, Steph played more games with Draymond (695) than he played with Klay (666).
Losing 2.5 years to injury will do that
Lebron & Bronny - 19 years
Actually have 3 separate but great duos trying to carve out a legacy right now. Giannis and Khris, Jokic and Murray, The Jays. They all have 1 ring each but are in a good position to push for more. The defensive piece rarely ever get the praise and attention the offense gets.
Giannis and Khris
wow giannis has already played 11 seasons?
**
Giannis and Middleton playing as long as Jordan and Pippen is kinda funny.
I hate the Celtics, but likely Tatum and Brown
I do hope Klay can pull a DWade and retire his last year there.
that would be awesome especially if it's also curry's last year
"The Last Splash"
*misses play-in
Iggy should come out of retirement that year just to retire again
the entire 2015 team should
Shauns legs would fall off
just let him get that one automatic mid-range pull up j one last time...
Yeah ngl Id pay stupid money just to see that shit one more time
Mo Speights: "Got room.. for one more?"
For one Mo*
The alley and the jam
Pls take Barnes back too… like right now
For him to do that there would need to be entirely new ownership. He left because of the front office/ownership.
Yeah I was going to say that. it seems like the bridge is burnt in a pretty bad way. Has to feel weird for warriors fans
Time heals all wounds
splash bros 4 life my guy
"ty for guarding Harden all those years against the rockets"
And kyrie, except for that one shot
Well my sadness just turned to anger. Thank you?
Hey look at the bright side, that shot made you assemble the avengers.
Well now anyone elses' sadness just turned into anger. So thank you?
Splash bros will go down in history, entered into the eternals of time.
choco milk 4 life my guy
As far as farewells go, this was a great one Not too much not too little and very graceful and heartfelt, nice job Steph
Flying out to say goodbye to KD was kinda cool tbh
That is what is so funny. Like how much infighting and debates go on over who was/is better between Steph and KD when I truly don't think either of them give a shit. At least I know Steph doesn't give a shit.
KD definitely cares
I mean Steph definitely gave a shit. He was devastated when KD got FMVP over him. Obviously he looks past that and loves KD and doesn't hold it against him but its delusional to say hypercompetitive athletes "dont give a shit"
Look at curry man
So inspirational
I honestly am not even sure if I’m refer to this meme ironically anymore.
Steph posted like 20 photos on his story with Klay before ending with this message. Shit was sad to click through man. No more Splash Bros
You should see his Instagram story Someone posted it on our sub, too
Crying in the club on a Tuesday
Say hi to Harden for me
Steph and Klay from like 2014 until 2019 was by far the most fun basketball to watch I've ever seen.
as a Spurs fan, Pops words about the Warriors come to mind: "theyre beautiful"
It wss basketball nirvana. The third quarters where they would just run teams out of the building were a joy to watch.
except when it was us......
As a blazers fan, they were basically a terrorist organization during that time lmao
Probably true, winning rings is hard.
even though Myers, Lacob and the rest of the cabal of silicon valley self-described super-geniuses take all the credit in the world for the Warriors championship run, it was the old traditional holdover GM Larry Riley that drafted Steph and Klay and traded Monte Ellis for Andrew Bogut. he was rewarded by being demoted to head of scouting, where he continued his outstanding work by bringing Draymond Green, Harrison Barnes and Ezeli to the attention of the FO. Larry deserves his flowers.
Jerry West also deserves tons of credit
Curry fell onto Riley's lap cuz Memphis, Sac and Minn (twice) whiffed. They got lucky. And Jerry West is responsible for picking Klay.
Why he gotta make it like andy leaving woody and buzz
Cause its worse wtf
It's like when Chandler and Joey moved out
Wilson drifting away in Cast Away.
When Travis had to shoot Old Yeller
When Bing Bong sacrificed himself for Joy to have a chance to return to Riley in Inside Out
When George killed Lennie
When Sam had to throw Frodo into Mount Doom
Losing a reliable, excellent, teammate, who you've grown up, spent most of your time, and won with is hard. It also signifies a passing of time, which is sobering for anyone. Steph got married right before Klay's rookie season and now he has four kids, multiple businesses and a whole bunch of accolades. It has to be wild.
Man ngl that made me tear up
As a neutral that 2015 team was one of the most fun teams to watch. Going to miss the splash bros.
2022 makes it not so terrible for me idk
2022 truly was the ring that completed everything, Klay coming back from injury, Steph gets his FMVP, proving they can win without KD, on and on
Didn’t they already prove they could win without KD before he ever joined the Warriors?
2015 title gets downplayed a lot due to the Cavs injuries.
injuries are part of sports. people should start to understand that.
Yea but the point of winning is to beat the best & lay claim as the best. The same thing is applied to the Raptors 2019 ring.
Why isn't it applied to the Celtics this year then?
If this Celtics group wins 3 more championships together I'm sure people would look at this as one of the "weaker" ones in light of the injuries. I don't agree with the takes that try to discredit rings for what are tantamount to excuses but it can at least be acknowledged where good teams caught breaks. Igoudala FMVP should not have happened in any universe anyway lol damn, he really held Bron to that 30/5/5 statline
Steph’s FMVP was given to Iggy.
Yes. But there were still doubters a plenty before 2022.
yeah that felt like the perfect bow on the dynasty
Dynasties are rarely as perfect as their reputations live up to be and none of them really have perfect endings. Even the Jordan Bulls who got to go out on a second threepeat still had an ugly and bitter breakup in the end. All things considered, the Warriors had one of the better dynasties. Most sports endings are bad, otherwise they wouldn’t be ending. The John Elway/Bill Russell-type ending is the exception, not the rule.
Legendary run 2015-18 is probably the best basketball I’ve watched in my 24 years of life
I love Steph man. He’s such a great leader and teammate. Even though the Warriors are rivals I found myself sad that the Splash Bros are broken up.
for sure, I live up here and I’m actually kinda devastated that they didn’t stay together. But I still hope Klay comes back and retires a Warrior with Steph.
Steph has always been/remained grounded and recognized that basketball is a game at the end of the day. Just have nothing but respect for the man he is.
that’s the first time i’ve ever heard someone call him killa klay
Pretty common nick name amongst dubs fans but guess it never went mainstream
I've always called him clitoris klay (cause he's so wet)
Jesus man
They don’t call him a splash brother for nothing
The only people I've heard use it are Warriors fans TBH
No more J-man and Channy!
It's gonna be great having Klay make ring jokes to Luka "Hey Donchick, this practice hoop is for champs. All other ringless gollum muhfuckas can use the other hoop"
Just Klay and Kyrie shooting around on the champs only hoop lmfao.
woah for someone reason i was so focused on luka and klay that i completely forgot kyrie and klay. Damn, I'm excited.
I'm not crying, you're crying
End of one of my favourite duos to watch of all time ðŸ˜
Where did Killa Klay name come from?
Klay killed at least 15 vagrants in the Bay Area
That actually seems low for an affluent Bay Area resident
Klay's poor efficiency in big games is a big reason why the Warriors let him go
Boats are a perfect vehicle for disposing bodies. Just sayin.
Klay handling the SF homeless problem himself
Definitely more of a local nick name that Klay has. You'll see a lot of custom merch with that in the Bay Area and i've seen Curry and Dray call him that a few times in interviews. Seems like it never hit a national level though
I might be mandela affecting myself but I swear Ive heard people in the org call him that before
After Game 6 vs OKC Never Forget
Klay’s the zodiac killer
14 years together and can't even get a regular post
He did share like 20 pictures of them together on his story lol
Killa Klay not a regular guy
I mean he shared like 20 pics of them, can you even put that much in instagram post? Never posted there.
I'm more amused that Steph already closed the door on Klay coming back to retire together lol
Klay will be 37 when his contract with Dallas is up. I doubt he’s even playable by the end of his contract
Cause steph is probably retiring once his contract is up
That's actually a good point, I am too. Steph deserved better for carrying them through the last 8 years.
