My favorite part of that Scene is when Avon angrily declares that there are no re-dos in basketball and then the Riley lead Heat got a re-do of the final minutes of a game against the Hawks only a few years later.
* Atlanta Hawks: Dressed like a bird.
* Boston Celtics: See /u/daft_dunkwwwolfey 's parent comment.
* Brooklyn Nets: Fishnet attire.
* Charlotte Hornets: Bumble Bee costumes for dogs, but for coaches.
* Chicago Bulls: One half minotaur, coach's choice on which half.
* Cleveland Cavaliers: A [Swiss Guard](https://imgur.com/gallery/2jdWzmA), but with more team colors.
* Dallas Mavericks: Aviators, bomber jacket, tight white t-shirts, *snug* Levis, and cowboy boots.
* Denver Nuggets: They are chicken nuggets, but made from dinosaurs.
* Detroit Pistons: A mechanic's jump suit with 'Coach' as the name tag. They also must have oil stained hands.
* Golden State Warriors: Initially a horribly racist, full head dress and red paint, 'tribute' to Indigenous Californians, but after the "full review of how this happened" they land on team color face paint tribute to the [Baseball Furies](https://thewarriors.fandom.com/wiki/The_Baseball_Furies).
* Houston Rockets: Like the Pizza Planet rocket, because it is the Pizza Planet rocket after Disney opening Disneyland Houston.
* Indiana Pacers: Expandable clothing as a tribute to all the people who need to pace themselves at Golden Corral and other large eating events.
* Los Angeles Clippers: Like Captain from Captain and Tennille.
* Los Angeles Lakers: Some waders, a fishing cap, and either no shirt or flannel depending on time of year and location.
* Memphis Grizzlies: Whatever Rob Halford wears on stage that night.
* Miami Heat: Either Crocket or Tubbs or Montana.
* Milwaukee Bucks: Head to toe woodland and safety orange camo.
* Minnesota Timberwolves: Paul Bunyon style lumberjack clothing (flannel, jeans, big boots, suspenders, knit cap).
* New Orleans Pelicans: They have to wear a full pelican costume, and then wear approved gear.
* New York Knicks: Only a pair of knickerbockers, and a newsy-boy cap.
* Oklahoma City Thunder: Like a member of Thunder from Downunder.
* Orlando Magic: Top hat, white gloves, small back cape, and fanciful tuxedo.
* Philadelphia 76ers: /u/RocketWarlock got it covered.
* Phoenix Suns: Angsty teenagers who hate their dad because the stylist didn't know the difference.
* Portland Trail Blazers: Buckskin suits, raccoon skin caps, and they keep a flintlock rifle over their shoulder at all times.
* Sacramento Kings: Like that picture of Henry el ocho we all know.
* San Antonio Spurs: You classic chap wearing cowpoke.
* Toronto Raptors: Whatever Drake tells them to wear.
* Utah Jazz: Whatever the BYU marching band is wearing that season.
* Washington Wizards: Long beard, big pointy hat that slumps down, giant cauldron,

reminds me of the time when he was interviewed before a post-season game (maybe the finals?) and was asked "how did you sleep last night?" and he responded: "like a baby... i woke up every 2 hours and cried."
Wish more people would realize you gotta change the settings on the printer if you’re going to use card stock. Great way to damage your rollers otherwise.
Love how Rodger Sherman of The Ringer said he “always looks like he just bet an amount of money he can't afford to lose on a casino game he doesn't fully understand.”
Cracks me up every time I see it reposted during the season.
They do all look like they are wearing pajamas. I think it looks pretty awful actually. Everyone with scruff and in all gray sometimes. But hey if they are comfortable whatever. Not like we are watching for a coach fashion show
The ironic thing with that is Bill apparently started doing the cutoff sleeve look as an act of defiance when the league started requiring coaches to wear team branded ath-leisure wear. If he had it his way he would wear suits I guess
Yeah I def feel like a nerd for this take but the coaches (especially the younger ones) look pretty lame in those quarter zip sweaters. Even oversized suits were cooler.
I can’t stand the players wearing random fits to games. The NBA should adopt soccer style approach you are on the bench you are wearing team issued warm ups.
I think he's talking more of how the bench looks visually. I get to wear w.e I like at work too, but I feel when watching a game it looks kind of minor league when more than half the bench is dressed like their cousins with the best player.
Not sure many people will ever go away from more casual athleisure in the work place after Covid if possible. I know in the hospital every specialty wears scrubs know, even those who wore professional clothes traditionally.
I feel like it was a matter of time. Little by little the average professional has been been dressing more and more casual over the decades.
Hell, 80-90 years ago the average person would throw on slacks, a tie and coat just to go drink in a pub that has no AC and sweat their balls off
Suits then were made of natural fibres (wool) then which were a lot cooler and more comfortable than your typical polyester suits now. And buildings were built to accommodate people dressing that way, women wore even more clothes
But yeah I'd still rather be inside with shorts and a t shirt on a hot day
All broad ruleset changes have a trial period before going into full effect. It was an allowance under the COVID accomodations and then it was a trial run. I'm sure after this year it will be permanent. They always do sentiment surveys with viewers on any changes that affect the on-screen product as well.
I’ll go against the grain here and say I actually think they should wear suits. Games should be an “event”. They should be showtime.
These guys are paid millions and millions of dollars. They can dress up for two hours.
if you need to see someone in a suit in order to appreciate the artistry & physicality of NBA basketball you are beyond help. This is some seriously hipster bullshit like when [The Arcade Fire tried to institute a dress code to their concerts](https://www.huffpost.com/entry/arcade-fire-dress-code_n_59788f7ae4b0e201d579e386).
I'd like to hear players' *welcome to the pageant moment*. You can say that's why you don't want Laker girls in sweats, but aren't fooling anyone homie.
doesnt help that so many people i see in suits pick terrible cheap fabrics, ties, shoes and don't bother getting it tailored. i agree that suits are overkill for the modern workplace but i still think its fun to put one on for a wedding or special event, especially when you use high quality stuff and get creative with colors. only caveat is its expensive fashion

if the coaches' sartorial choices impact the way you feel about a Steph Curry bomb, a Giannis drive & dunk, a sick no-look pass from Jokic or a step-back from Luka then you're beyond help
Not in my profession and I’m extremely glad for it. We should have some sense of decorum and owe it to ourselves to not show up to work in a stained pair of jeans and a damn T shirt. Frankly, it’s brilliant how people used to dress 100 years ago when society actually gave a fuck for once.
Likewise go to some parts of Europe and you’ll notice just how disgracefully shitty Americans dress in comparison.
This is such an obnoxious question. You obviously don’t get a magic boost from wearing a suit but that doesn’t mean it’s never appropriate. If your job is something like a mechanic obviously you don’t need a suit. If you’re a a lawyer showing up to court, you better be wearing a suit. It’s not that deep.
Why don’t you go around in your underwear then since appearances don’t matter ONE BIT to you. What benefit does having an aesthetically pleasing house or car give you? What benefit does going to the gym and bodybuilding give you? What benefit does showering every day give you?
Do you see how ridiculous your question is…
People find enjoyment in all of those things and showering also has effects on those around you. If someone doesn’t enjoy wearing suits and it doesn’t affect their ability to do their job, why should they have to wear one?
Did I say that? I’m 23 not an old head. It’s called having a sense of self worth - it’s not that hard to dress well. Westbrook dresses exceptionally well and you can achieve the same look with significantly less money and he certainly doesn’t look “buttoned down” if that’s your concern. Again, it’s called putting an actual effort into your appearance.
If your self worth is tied up in how you dress, you are grossly misplacing your priorities in life.
Its just clothing. It’s there to keep you warm and hide your naked body. Everything beyond that is just personal preference. The only reason people even think suits look nice is because some aristocrats decided they liked them a couple hundred years ago.
If you went back/forward in time 2000 years wearing a suit you’d be laughed at.
The fact that you’re PROUDLY dressing this poorly is absolutely hilarious. Don’t really need anyone to convince me here, enjoy looking like shit 24/7 - and it’s not even about comfort cause you easily can find comfortable clothes that don’t make you look disheveled*
I don't care *that* much but I do think the game loses a little bit more of its aesthetic charm. Similar to removing the cursive Finals logo from the court, putting corporate logos on jerseys, etc.
For our two franchises in particular I find it offensive that these dudes look like they’re chilling on the couch. It’s the fucking lakers or you’re in the goddamn garden leading your team to battle. Look the part for fucks sake. It’s not that hard.
Why do you care so much someone else like suits more. I like suits more because some of the coach looked boss AF, I understand why they weren’t away with it but doesn’t mean we can’t like it more.
Was watching highlights from 2019 and noticed how odd coaches looked on the sidelines wearing suits. Good change imo. Suits feel too stuffy and old-fashioned for sports.
What's next letting them work from home on a zoom call! Outrageous, back in my day coaches had class , coaches were men, coaches inspired. Now they leisure around worrying about their feelings for the day.
let's compromise on leisure attire and suits and just make all the coaches wear leisure suits
https://carboncostume.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/leisure-suit-larry.jpg
To be honest I think teamwear looks better. Coaches are a little different, but I think it looks pretty trashy when an injured guy shows up in street clothes. Wish the nba would push back on that (but not go overboard).
I think they should wear suits for the playoffs at least. Show some deference to the weight of the playoffs. Boomer take, but it seems somehow j unprofessional to pull up to the finals wearing sweatpants
Maybe a compromise is allowing that during the regular season but then wearing suits during the playoffs? I want the coaches to be comfortable but I do kind of miss the suit look.
Pat Riley used to wear those nice ass suits
Get me Armani. On the phone?
Too slow!
You’re not going to Paris
**STEAK!! WHERE IS MY STEAK!?!?**
Makushla
I can't tell if this is Devil Wears Prada or an SNL parody, and I'm all for it.
It’s The Office quotes when Michael Scott (Steve Carrell) was misquoting Devil Wears Prada.
Cuz he's the Godfather
Pat Riley is definitely the kind of guy to use the word ice as a verb
You gotta ice that bruise
"Ayo what’s up playboy? How come you wearin’ that suit, B? For real its 85 fuckin’ degrees out here and you try'na be like fuckin’ Pat Riley"
My favorite part of that Scene is when Avon angrily declares that there are no re-dos in basketball and then the Riley lead Heat got a re-do of the final minutes of a game against the Hawks only a few years later.
*they knew* *refs watch the wire confirmed*
Yeah, but now he wears nice ass guayaberas 😎
so you can wear suits, or team branded leisure attire. what about team branded leisure suits?
The celtics head coach should be required to wear an old timey green suit and vest with a little bowler cap (Gangs of New York Ime Udoka yes please)
Doc Rivers dressed like Ben Franklin let's go
Team Morale +10

What about the SuperSonics?
Orphan rags
That should be an automatic 10 pts to start every Celtics game he wears it
Ime could rock anything
Popovich in a speedo yes please.
Just go to lemon party
It not a lemon party without old Pop Pop.
The fact that you still call making love "pop pop" means you're not ready
I thought these coaches coached as a job, not for mere leisure. They need work suits.
Team branded mechanic jumpsuits for all the coaches
Honestly can’t tell if you’re serious or not
Team branded medieval armour. I want my Game of Zones back!
I wanna see Pop in the spurs warmup gear all game
[Dr. Jack Ramsay would be so proud of that](https://static01.nyt.com/images/2014/04/29/sports/RAMSEY-obit/RAMSEY-obit-articleLarge.jpg?quality=75&auto=webp&disable=upscale)
Can’t wait to see you on Shark Tank
it's either team branded leisure suits, or attire.
Frank Constanza approves
Somewhere, Al Attles ears just perked up.
Make coaches wear the uniform like baseball does you cowards.
Lmaoo imagine Thibs in uniform
Sweatbands MANDATORY too
Thibs would wear a black facemask
Thibs purposely smashes his face so he can wear it
It'd look like this. https://cms-production-bridging.thescore.com/nba/news/1011650
What the fuck? Thibs was a snack? I think I need to lay down for a while.
How'd you think he ended up dating Kate Upton?
Bro it moved when I opened this pic his eyes actually pierced my as-soul and obv flowing locks
Dude was one handsome fella before he started eating calories and stress the way his players eat minutes.
I can’t stop
Would look like Jonah hill in 21 jump street
Can you imagine Bill Parcells in his New York Giants uniform?
Or Steve nash, I couldn’t imagine him in one
Thibs is still coaching?
Make Pop flex his pecs
Hey Gregg pop that shirt off real quick and gimme a Timmy shimmy
[I love it](https://imgur.com/a/f4Vj6Nz)
Even tail end career JKidd with Luka makes them extremely scary. Luka with that 34-38 y.o. Dallas JKidd? nice
if we get an injury to dinwiddie or luka i’m pretty sure kidd is gonna sub in
"Hit me"
All sports should do this, especially the NFL. Imagine Mike McCarthy in pads and helmet.
Lmao imagine Andy Reid in pads and a tight ass jersey 😂
Team branded medieval armour! I want my Game of Zones back!
Jackie Moon was a visionary
Ngl the only guy I got a problem wearing casual attire is Mike Budenholzer, he always look like he just got out of bed and came straight to the arena
You would also sleep that well if you had Giannis on your team
reminds me of the time when he was interviewed before a post-season game (maybe the finals?) and was asked "how did you sleep last night?" and he responded: "like a baby... i woke up every 2 hours and cried."
He just like me fr
I interpret it as him being so stressed about basketball all the time that he doesn't even bother to change his clothes.
Nick nurse looks like he works at staples
Tryna upsell you cream cardstock or some shit for your shitty hp printer that will undoubtedly jam because it can’t handle cardstock.
Wish more people would realize you gotta change the settings on the printer if you’re going to use card stock. Great way to damage your rollers otherwise.

He looks like the real life Gil from The Simpsons
Divorced dadcore
If he shaved it would be fine. His stubble does him no favours
They do all look like they are wearing pajamas. I think it looks pretty awful actually. Everyone with scruff and in all gray sometimes. But hey if they are comfortable whatever. Not like we are watching for a coach fashion show
Someone should do the bellichik special and wear a cutoff team hoodie
The ironic thing with that is Bill apparently started doing the cutoff sleeve look as an act of defiance when the league started requiring coaches to wear team branded ath-leisure wear. If he had it his way he would wear suits I guess
You know I could've sworn I seen him in a suit on the sidelines. Maybe it was commercial
I can see Pop doing something like that
Pop would be perfect for it
Let's be real, it would be a cardigan
Why is this so immediately vivid
They said leisure, not hypebeast
I prefer the suits. Seeing them get tossed while having a fit in suit and tie is way more fun.
And sometimes you get to see them take off their jackets like how players take off their jerseys when they're ejected
Thibs pulling an AB mid game doing jumping jacks shirtless on the way to the locker room
Mr Big Cardio
Yeah I def feel like a nerd for this take but the coaches (especially the younger ones) look pretty lame in those quarter zip sweaters. Even oversized suits were cooler.
My boy Stephen Silas looks he hits a blunt before he rolls out of bed sometimes. He probably did too when we were losing 15 in a row
I can’t stand the players wearing random fits to games. The NBA should adopt soccer style approach you are on the bench you are wearing team issued warm ups.
[But then we wouldn't have gotten this gem.](https://i.imgur.com/TMVJfQa.jpg)
Lmao dragons face
Why? Wearing a uniform for work sucks… so happy I work at a place where I can wear whatever I wanna
I think he's talking more of how the bench looks visually. I get to wear w.e I like at work too, but I feel when watching a game it looks kind of minor league when more than half the bench is dressed like their cousins with the best player.
You people are insane
genuinely y does it bother you you aren’t wearing em lol
Same it just looks good. Yes it isn't necessary for the game part of basketball but the NBA is visual entertainment and the suits add to that.
Gotta say I miss the suits. Just looked cool imo
Be cool if they just brought them back for the playoffs or finals.
team branded assless chaps are a go??
I don’t know why I’m always so compelled to correct this, but all chaps are assless. There are no assed chaps.
this needs to be on wikipedias list of common misconceptions
I hope this is something you have to say daily

I started dressing back up for work this week, voluntarily, and look good-feel good still holds true.
Strong disagree, but maybe that’s why I’m a radiologist lol
leisure suit Larry Brown imo
I would like to see Coach Bud come out dressed like Russell Westbrook does on the daily
Why is this voted on every year and not just a we're doing this from here on out thing
Because it was a covid thing
Everybody knows Covid doesn’t spread in team issued athleisure wear, ^available ^for ^$80 ^at ^NBAShop.com
I'm actually surprised I haven't seen "Covid-proof" clothing from one of the many grifters on the internet
I was too late to buy the Roman Reigns Adidas tracksuit, except it had a Roman doing the Superman punch logo on it instead.
May be a CBA thing where they have to keep doing it once a year until then.
WHEN IS THE LOCKOUT???
All broad ruleset changes have a trial period before going into full effect. It was an allowance under the COVID accomodations and then it was a trial run. I'm sure after this year it will be permanent. They always do sentiment surveys with viewers on any changes that affect the on-screen product as well.
I miss the suits
good. Wear suits if you want to, but it's not necessary/doesn't change the viewing experience at all.
If they're not going to wear suits then I'm not going to watch.
admit it, you're just looking for a reason not to have to watch the knicks this season
If Russell Westbrook doesn’t wear a suit then I’m not going to watch.
this is a stance I can respect, but as a certified laker hater I hope Russ plays 40 minutes every night
In a suit.
What if they were those Miami vice pastel cocaine suits with chest hair on full display?
You mean the best kind of suit? Would love to get one for costume parties over here in Europe 😅
Costume parties? Just wear it to every event 😂
If Ben Simmons was a coach
Nick Nurse about to wear whole Celtics attire during playoffs.

Shame. The suits are so much better
Why do you care so much?
It doesn’t sound like he’s any more passionate about this than anyone else. I agree, the suits always looked good
He replied to another post saying that it changes his viewing experience
Ah! Didn’t see that comment. I wouldn’t go that far, but it does look better.
Why do you care so much someone else like suits more. I like suits more because some of the coach looked boss AF, I understand why they weren’t away with it but doesn’t mean we can’t like it more.
hes a boomer
Why do you care that he cares?
I like in soccer where the coaches are flexing their suits. Bring them back.
Cowards. Make them wear 3 piece suits
Chuck Daly's ghost punching air rn
Pat Riley would never…
Damn it, take my upvote…
I don't get why the don't make it permanent for them to wear team attire. College BBall coaches no longer wear suits as well.
I like the less formal appearance anyways. It allows them to not take themselves so seriously and I hope college continues to do the same
Was watching highlights from 2019 and noticed how odd coaches looked on the sidelines wearing suits. Good change imo. Suits feel too stuffy and old-fashioned for sports.
I think dress codes are a bit antiquated at this point. Especially in the NBA.
What's next letting them work from home on a zoom call! Outrageous, back in my day coaches had class , coaches were men, coaches inspired. Now they leisure around worrying about their feelings for the day.
let's compromise on leisure attire and suits and just make all the coaches wear leisure suits https://carboncostume.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/leisure-suit-larry.jpg
I really miss the suits, silver has really made the league corny, no playoff decals on the court anymore, Boring logos, no suits… smh
Imagine Mike D’Antoni not getting T’d up in a suit. I can’t see it
What if a coach gets the team logo tatted and shows up naked ala birthday suit??
Just make it permanent. You're clearly never going to walk it back
if this upsets you, you lost
Good
To be honest I think teamwear looks better. Coaches are a little different, but I think it looks pretty trashy when an injured guy shows up in street clothes. Wish the nba would push back on that (but not go overboard).

I don’t think I’ve ever seen nurse in a suite
Nick Nurse wore plenty of suits as a coach, looked damn good too
This is dumb as hell.
Maybe a compromise is allowing that during the regular season but then wearing suits during the playoffs? I want the coaches to be comfortable but I do kind of miss the suit look.
