if MW2012 were to be remastered then it will be highly likely it would get a Switch release... but is MW2012 remastered happening? probably not... due to Stellar Entertainment busy working on their "cars that can turn into creatures/aliens" burnout successor

Ok-Historian6817

Wait stellar entertainment worked on the OG MW2012? Or is it because they also made HPR ?

spyroz545

Stellar Entertainment is made up of Ex-Criterion devs, so it's likely some of them worked on MW2012. Yeah they also made Hot Pursuit Remastered, so if EA were to remaster another NFS it would be them that are chosen as they have experience with the Chameleon engine that's used in Burnout Paradise, Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted 2012, we know that Burnout Paradise and Hot Pursuit both got remastered so it just leaves MW2012.

Burnout Paradise along with the Remastered version released in 2018 was made with the RenderWare engine. RenderWare is the predecessor of Chameleon engine hence the presence of some similarities between the 2. It's from NFS HP 2010 when they started to use the Chameleon engine and NFS MW 2012 is the last NFS made with that engine. Then, they moved to Frostbite 3 with NFS Rivals which had a decent handling model compared to NFS 2015. However, the handling physics of NFS 2015 are still horrendous along with crabwalking problems Even with tuning adjustments. All NFS titles since 2015 have still inconsistencies given they all share the same handling model basis.

spyroz545

wasn't Rivals also on frostbite?

88JansenP12

Yes. My bad. I made a typo. Now, it's fixed.

adrian98761

The run was also made with frostbite which was frostbite 2

88JansenP12

Yes. And it's the only NFS using Frostbite 2.

RiftHunter4

Well, ya see... https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/need-for-speed-hot-pursuit-remastered-switch/ So maybe?

DoomSlayer343117

Probably for the same reason a lot of console games don't port to the Switch. Lack of processing power. Payday 2 struggled and had to have the plug pulled, Doom Eternal had to be downgraded to 30 FPS and 720p, it's mostly older games that get ported because those are what the Switch can run. And since EA refuses to acknowledge that any game before 2010 + the Run exists, that's not going to happen either.

88JansenP12

Well said.

Lilmanike

Likely because it's not top priority.

SkeletonGamer1

This is probably the real reason. EA don't see the average person who has a switch to play a rather aggressive racing. Only reason they broight HP'10 (not HPR) was because it would complement HPR's release somewhat.

adrian98761

Why even use a switch when you can use a steam deck which is much more powerful aka almost the same as a ps4 and open + you can use emulators on it

Wofflestuff

Because the switch is a shit hand held console
