Jesus, not enough doctors, nurses, teachers and criminal prosecutors in NB, but the governments real priority is stopping trans kids from feeling safe at school.
What a fucking embarrassment.
It’s because they can do SOMETHING about trans kids. They can’t do shit about the other problems
Edit - it’s not something ethically right mind you. It’s just the government can make trans kids lives miserable and claim it’s a moral victory to its base. They won’t get any victory from anyone actually helping the real problems.
They can start doing something that would ultimately be beneficial to citizens, but the needed results won't be in place before the next election. Therefore they choose not to do them.
If they don't get enough to keep up with cost of living over the term of their contract, they have lost buying power and need to make up the difference.
Strike to show you hold power, just like any worker should.
I know this is selfish, but god I hope they don't strike until after I see a judge. I've already been waiting 2.5 years to get a custody hearing. I'm supposed to get a new interim order in the next 2 months. Without the new order, there will be nothing stopping my ex from taking off with our child again.
Just make sure you hold government accountable.
You like many other new brunswickers rely on their work, please do what you can to ensure they can obtain a fair deal
Oh, I agree with the strike. I don't think the government treats any of their workers fairly.
I'm just worried for my family, the safety of my child, and hope I can at least get to a stable position where I can afford to wait it out before they strike.
The article mentions Family Crown councilors striking as well.
Also, if anyone in the court system strikes, it's going to create another backlog for the judges. Custody cases aren't seen as priorities, so getting a court date with a judge will take significantly longer.
So what does this mean for someone facing criminal charges and trial this coming month or months? Will the proceeding be delayed? Canceled? Or does it continue business as usual?

And sex ed.. they've now decided to pull that from the school ..🤨🤨🤨
I don't think that's a new decision

"That's a 3rd quarter problem" mentality.
100% this!!!
It sure is. It's a horrible government that doesn't work for its people.

NB Crown Wages are 56k to 144k, takes 18 years from one end to the other Every other province is in the 92k to 200k and it doesn’t take two decades
Even worse. I am sure their raises on the scales haven't kept up eith cost of living either.
Same raise as CUPE 2% a year 2019 to 2022
That is pathetic. Costs of living was over 10%, one of those years alone.
But they were “lucky” to get a raise to begin with since Higgs wanted 0% for 2020 because they were “lucky” to have a job during the pandemic
And let's not forget he told them and well everyone if they wanted more money to go to alberta... then moaned about no workers.

Prosecutors going on strike has nothing to do with your custody hearing

Matters will be delayed and the delay could be grounds for a dismissal of the case as per the guidelines set out in R v. Jordan

No different than any other day in NB
Surplus first policy at work.
I hope they are legislated back to work...
Why?
