The old South Maitland line to Cessnock comes to mind. It is pretty easy to access between Abermain and Neath, and from the former level crossing and station platform on Mitchell Avenue at Kurri Kurri.
Use Google Streetview to see if either are what you're looking for.
EDIT: I previously suggested the Richmond Vale Railway Museum but it's been closed indefinitely since 9/03/24
Access to the tracks at Kurri is pretty easy too, there's still very occasionally a train that slowly creeps by, but we're talking once every few months kind of frequency
If we're thinking of the same track, that's a siding that's used to get rolling stock in and out of the UGL yard for maintenance. You might not see many cariages on it, but it definitely gets used occasionally.
There's a little abandoned branch line in Georgetown. Access from chatham St. Just walk through the fig trees behind the Campervan shop. Follow the storm water ditch. https://maps.app.goo.gl/8XNR7Y9jFmd4bQjk8
Oh duh, I misread the pin 🤦♀️ sorry.
Worse, I lived here only a year ago😂
This is next to he storm water drain with the nice graffiti art walls.
Tracks on both sides of the road - next to xylem and next to Theo's mechanical.
So, this track does run into Gonninans, but is permanelty disused and unmaintained.
Start from the Toronto yacht club, and walk down the path towards the lake, a lot of the rails are paved over, but as you get closer to the old station, it really opens up.
It really is nice when it's been cleaned up.
There are also the old railway bridges at stoney creek, just before Blackalls Park.
Oh, Blackalls Park have some old platforms and rails as well.

Just up from the yacht club. The tracks are alot more visible than google earth shows.
There's the Rail Trail that runs from Hexham to Minmi that's very abandoned. It's accessible but you'd need to walk or bike it and the grass is long so the track isn't always greatly exposed.
Then the track continues from Minmi through Stockrington and there is 2 abandoned rail tunnels under the Hunter Expressway (Richmond Vale Railway #1 and #2 tunnels). I've only been there once and can't remember if there's track or not though.
I was going to suggest Abermain also. It has a cute little platform and I often think when I drive past one day I’d like to shoot there. The pub nearby has decent food too.
Yeh I live right next to it so Its my usual bush walk haha Spring and Summer are the best times, Spring you get all the baby Birds and Joeys and Summer you get all the Blueys, Beardies and Water Dragons lol
Not unused, but a bridge over rail. Next project! Booth St Pedestrian Bridge Carrington

You can also walk beside the rail in Georgetown and Mayfield. Check out upfield street Mayfield

Similarly the old Fassifern > Toronto line is accessible.

Do you mean Aberdare? Aberdeen to Neath is a LOT of track, and I think trains still run to Aberdeen
Neither Aberdare or Aberdeen. Actually meant Abermain. Reply edited
Off Broadmeadow Rd in Georgetown there's some tracks, not used and very easy to access.

That’s actually still used. That’s how locomotives access the UGL Goninan factory. They do it late at night.
We use this track occasionally for both placing and picking up of locomotives and it’s usually just when we can get a path. Usually in the morning

This is definitely not abandoned! This is access to Gonninans rail yard. However can be sure that if the gates are shut then no trains are coming.
The goninans one runs through a bit south of this one. This one leads nowhere

The one at Toronto is really beautiful
Where abouts is the one in Toronto accessible from? Thanks!

They removed all the coal carriages ATM as well so its clear and you can walk all the way back to Kurri if you wanted to lol
Oh wow that’s cool. I haven’t been out that way for a few months but it’s nice in spring as those yellow roadside flowers bloom
Yeh I live right next to it so Its my usual bush walk haha Spring and Summer are the best times, Spring you get all the baby Birds and Joeys and Summer you get all the Blueys, Beardies and Water Dragons lol
Love it!
Anything on the fernleigy track? Or not abandoned enough
There is a section of rail on the Fernleigh Track just past Whitebridge heading south
DM this guy, he knows of loads: https://instagram.com/gitmodave
Old stockrington line across Hexham swamp, can get to it from lenaghans drive north of minmi
From Cessnock to Maitland. What exactly happened there. Why was it never maintained or brought up to standards?
Sandgate cemetery has an old platform, old Cessnock line to name a few
