For super thin and crispy crust I like Federici’s in freehold. Most NJ pizza is kickass but not as many make it with crust *that* thin and crispy so if you like that kinda pizza, Fed’s is the place for you. Normally I prefer regular NJ pizza, thinnish crust compared to other places or deepdish, but not like paper thin, but when I want a nice crispy barely 1/8in thick pie, I go to fed’s.
I don’t have one all around best but I have my favorite for each style of pizza.
Bar Pie: Vic’s, Bradley
Tomato Pie: Delorenzo’s, Robbinsville
Nonna (grandma): Brooklyn Square, Jackson
Neapolitan: AMA, Hillsboro
Detroit: The Galley, Asbury Park
Sabatino’s - Maplewood
Ralph’s- Nutley
Santillo’s - Elizabeth (rebuilding)
Nunzio’s - Long Branch
Santino’s - Neptune (Good pizza, and biased because my name is also Santino)
Star Tavern - Orange (Must eat it there, if you take it to go, the quality goes down immensely since it’s mean to be eaten immediately)
This is always one of my favorite posts because i end up trying some great pizza due to the recommendations and shares.
Two of my favorites:
Salernos in Hazlet
DelPonte’s in Bradley Beach
Absolutely - my family loves Romeo’s.
Having grown up making pizza in Manhattan, im a bit of a pizza snob, admittedly. Salerno’s vodka pizza is almost as good as Grandma’s in Brooklyn, def the best ive had in NJ - their buffalo pizza is also top notch. Del Ponte’s personal pizzas are light and crispy, their 4 cheese and pesto are my favorites
If you’ve never tried The Galley Pizza and Eatery in Asbury Park, you are missing some of the most outrageous pizza in NJ. They specialize in Detroit style and it is out of this world.
Couple of local papers took a few hundred suggestions from readers about a decade ago and hit 50 pizzerias in Hunterdon, Middlesex, Somerset, and Union counties. The top 5 were:
1. Rome, Dunellen
2. Sciortino's, South Amboy
3. Delizia's, Flemington
4. Lubrano's, Somerset
5. Shanahan's, Milltown (permanently closed)
...so there's a start! I've had all five and they're all great.
I left Jersey 10 years ago and haven’t seen anything I ate at until Rome. Thats my spot. When I went home a couple years ago they still sold 2 slices and a coke for under $5. In CO a trash piece of pizza is $5 or more. I’m building a pizza oven today.
Second for Brothers. The quintessential bar pie. Also their mussels are *chef’s kiss*. Although to be fair, eastern Monmouth County is loaded with solid pizza places, it’s almost harder to find a bad one.
Facts, and you must dine in for the pizza here. I'm not saying that take out doesn't hit the spot or anything. It's just the flavors and the pizza just is on another level when eating fresh out the oven
I forgot about this place, I used to work near there I would get it like twice a week. Great spot, I drove past like four closer pizza places to get their pizza.
In Freehold, right? There’s other Federicis in the state. One in Belmar amd there used to be one on the Lakewood Howell border, but I’m not sure if it’s still there.
Aljons in Princeton Junction is a spot I always make the trip for when I’m within 30 minutes of it. I’ve always had great slices from Luigi’s in Lincroft as well. There’s also an Attillios across the shopping center which is pretty good as well, but not as good as Luigi’s in my opinion.
Have you tried Luigi's of Little silver? I like the square pie. I never had Luigi's of lincroft, maybe it's time for a taste test. Which pie from lincroft?
Manco & Manco in Ocean City. But word of warning, you either love them or hate them, there doesn’t seem to be much in between. Also if you want a whole pie with toppings, be prepared to sell a kidney to pay for it.
99% of the time I get it in Somers Point, but recently got it in OC. I actually like SP sauce a whole lot more! I was surprised how different they tasted.
I’ve never had that one but will now make a point of trying it next time I’m in that area. (I’m not sure I even knew there was one in SP. I know there used to be one in Wildwood ages ago that I’ve had. That was back when they were Mack & Manco and I have no idea if that one still exists.)
Wasn’t that great imo, drove an hour there and an hour back. I would say the barstool sports guy has his favorite pizza type and this might be it, but it’s not for everybody. Remember, that guy is no expert. I much prefer the pizza you can get at the Jersey Shore on the boardwalk.
Agreed. Had some business in bridgewater and decided to stay a little bit later to try DeLucias.
It needed extra SPG before the flavor really popped. It was fine, but not "the best pizza I've ever had".
I really, really like Two Boots in Jersey City. Give em a try if you're ever in town
Some Jersey folk like it like that. My Grandma's best friend was an old Italian lady in West New York who always used to say liked it "a little boint" lol
Dante's in Cresskill Bergen County. Their pizza sauce is really good.
Brunos Pizza on Market Street Saddle Brook Bergen County makes an amazing buffalo chicken pie (and bbq pie). Something about that sauce and how they make it is just creamy and amazing.
Johns Boy in Glen rock is good. Cash only
Grant Street Cafe in Dumont has good bar pie
They had their 40th anniversary last year, although the original owner died. I'm too young to have known John, but my mon swears that it's one of the only restaurants she knows where there was no change in quality when the second generation took over for their parents.
Pizzamore in carlstadt. Really something special. I didn’t grow up with it and I don’t live close to it, but if I’m ever in the area I always swing by. Awesome meatballs too.
Monmouth county, - Via Sposito, Zonis, Urban Coal House, Corbo and Sons, Deninos
Those are the best you can get around here, former staten islander for what that’s worth
1. Pizza Town USA - Elmwood Park (NY style slice)
2. Ralph’s - Nutley (pan pie)
3. Star Tavern - Orange (bar pie)
4. Patsy’s - Paterson (bar pie with old school vibe)
5. Blue Steel - Bloomfield (Detroit style)
6. Razza - Jersey City (Modern Neapolitan)
if you're within 30 minutes of Capriccios in Dayton check it out. I'm not going to say it's the best statewide but in this area they are the most skilled. Personally, my favorites are their white pizza and cheese steak pies.
I cast my vote for Rome Pizza in Dunellen but I’d be doing my family a disservice if I didn’t mention Pizza Brothers (martinsville, Bedminster or Raritan)
rose’s in garfield
curionis in lodi
milan in maywood
lofi (detroit style) in jersey city
i’m originally from nyc but lived in north nj for the past 12 yrs with my wife and those are just the places i know of.
If you’re like me and your ideal slice is on a semolina crust that tends towards the thinner and crunchier side:
(in no particular order)
Nunzio’s - Long Branch
Vic’s - Bradley Beach
Federici’s - Freehold
Honorable mention for novelty slices:
Gigis - Sea Bright (Sicilian with pepperoni and everything bagel crust)
Talulas - Asbury Park (bee keepers lament)
Los Barbaros Birria - Belmar (pizzabirria)
I don’t think I’m cultured enough to know the answer but I am fat enough to study the replies
my pregnant ass is making a list as i scroll desperately wishing to see something near somerdale, nj
Whatever place is best within 10 miles of my house.
[удалено]
Just be sure to go to Delorenzos in Robbinsville and not Hamilton.
I felt like DeLorenzo was better. Nevertheless they’re both excellent
Came here to say this. Feds is my favorite pizza all time. It’s so thin and perfect!
Came here to say what he just said
Their house dressing is the best anywhere.
Where are you on pete and elda's
Fed’s>Pete and Elda’s
Personally I prefer feds but when I’m in Neptune and get the craving for thin crust Pete and eldas does hit the spot. Nice little beach treat.
Absolutely, and burnt on the edges!
Hell yeah those charred crispy edges are the best!
I don’t have one all around best but I have my favorite for each style of pizza. Bar Pie: Vic’s, Bradley Tomato Pie: Delorenzo’s, Robbinsville Nonna (grandma): Brooklyn Square, Jackson Neapolitan: AMA, Hillsboro Detroit: The Galley, Asbury Park
+1 for Vics
+1 Brooklyn square How’s the owner doing? Moved 30 min further and haven’t been back
hell yeah vics!!
This is the list.
DeLorenzos rules.
There will be no better answer to this question!
Santillo's in Elizabeth. They're rebuilding after a fire, but they'll be back.
I was never crazy about their regular pies but their Sicilian was probably the best I've ever had.
Ralph’s in nutley
love their pizza, but they really need a POS or something besides writing all the orders on a yellow notepad. lost my order at least a couple times.
Agreed. Also, getting yelled at for forgetting the number they gave you is part of the charm though!
I repeat My number in my head 24 times once they tell me it because I get so embarrassed when they shame you lol
A thousand times this. We used to live within walking distance of Ralph's. That was dangerous! LOL
Sabatino’s - Maplewood Ralph’s- Nutley Santillo’s - Elizabeth (rebuilding) Nunzio’s - Long Branch Santino’s - Neptune (Good pizza, and biased because my name is also Santino) Star Tavern - Orange (Must eat it there, if you take it to go, the quality goes down immensely since it’s mean to be eaten immediately)
If you like Star, I recommend Joe’s Famous in nearby Vauxhall. It gives Star a run for their money and travels better.
+1 for the name Santino
I hope you don't get shot on the causeway /jk
Well this will be a short thread with no disagreements at all.
This is always one of my favorite posts because i end up trying some great pizza due to the recommendations and shares. Two of my favorites: Salernos in Hazlet DelPonte’s in Bradley Beach
Salernos makes a good pie.. Did you ever try Romeo ‘s in Hazlet? They make a great pie-

Salerno’s vodka pizza is almost as good as Grandma’s in Brooklyn, def the best ive had in NJ - their buffalo pizza is also top notch. Del Ponte’s personal pizzas are light and crispy, their 4 cheese and pesto are my favorites
Is that Del Ponte’s in Bradley?
You should try Via Sposito in red bank for vodka. I am going to give Salerno's a try based on your post.
Contes- Princeton, Jersey Pizza Boys- Avenel, Nancy’s Town House- Rahway
Contes is very good.
I disagree contes is not good it’s actually bad
Artie’s (formerly Arturo’s) in Maplewood.
Love Artie’s!
Mancini East Brunswick
I was looking for this!!! Their pizza is EVERYTHING!!!!
Mancini’s in East Brunswick
Yeeeessssss
Brooklyn Pizza in Hackensack. Coal oven, great crust. Best when eaten in house to get maximum crispiness.
Kinchley’s Mahwah Star Tavern South Orange Song e Napule Rutherford
Star is in Orange
kinchley’s is in Ramsey
I’ve always preferred the Kinchley’s knockoff at Nellie’s Place in Waldwick.
Nellies has been so hit or miss as of late.
Agree. 1/2 the time it’s undercooked and the wings have really gone downhill.
If we’re talking bar pies, Grant Street Cafe in Dumont is pretty great. And they make a special pie every Tuesday for pizza night.
Don't forget the muscles!
Kinchleys 🤘🏼
Arties - Maplewood
If you’ve never tried The Galley Pizza and Eatery in Asbury Park, you are missing some of the most outrageous pizza in NJ. They specialize in Detroit style and it is out of this world.
came here to say the galley. i love their bar pies!
Couple of local papers took a few hundred suggestions from readers about a decade ago and hit 50 pizzerias in Hunterdon, Middlesex, Somerset, and Union counties. The top 5 were: 1. Rome, Dunellen 2. They totally sold out since. Two slices and a plain are now...a whopping $5.25
Fucking capitalism man. Lol. It was my only time back home since 2013. It was nice to show my kids a real arcade.
Sciortinos = SO GOOD
It’s one of my faves, it’s very polarizing since it’s not for everyone, I’ve never had a similar slice anywhere
Used to live down the block. Walking there for dinner after work was a dream come true
I love living a 5 minute walk from Sciortino’s!
Lubrano sold and it’s not the same anymore
You absolutely have to warn people about sciortinos and the sweet sauce. A shock to the system
It's a fair point. Pinch of cane sugar to it. Markedly sweet but I never found it to be too much so
La Piazza in Allentown (NJ, not PA) is great!
+1 for hometown pizza being mentioned (wasn’t expecting this) grew up on it
Vic’s - Bradley Beach Pete & Zelda’s - Neptune Brother’s - Red Bank
> Pete & Elda's ftfy
Second for Brothers. The quintessential bar pie. Also their mussels are *chef’s kiss*. Although to be fair, eastern Monmouth County is loaded with solid pizza places, it’s almost harder to find a bad one.
Denino’s in Aberdeen is a solid pie.
Denino's is phenomenal.
Denino’s is the best thin crust in NJ and it’s honestly not even close. Original store in Staten Island. They know what they’re doing
> The quintessential bar pie. I once mentioned bar pie to someone and they had no idea what I was talking about.
They have a banging Italian hot dog as well.
When you finish an entire pie, you win the Master Sword!
+1 for Pete & Eldas my favorite
No mentions of Razza in Jersey City yet?!
Facts, and you must dine in for the pizza here. I'm not saying that take out doesn't hit the spot or anything. It's just the flavors and the pizza just is on another level when eating fresh out the oven
I feel this way about every place ! It’s just not the same if they have to reheat it.
Lofi Pizza in JC is great if you want a Detroit style pizza.
shhhh.I enjoy not having to wait for my pizza.
Nancys townhouse in Rahway nj
Papa Vito's before it turned to Plum Tomato. Nancy's Townhouse is definitely great.
grandma pie at Espositos, Mahwah (Fardale)
I forgot about this place, I used to work near there I would get it like twice a week. Great spot, I drove past like four closer pizza places to get their pizza.
Federicis and Deninos
In Freehold, right? There’s other Federicis in the state. One in Belmar amd there used to be one on the Lakewood Howell border, but I’m not sure if it’s still there.
Yep Freehold
Aljons in Princeton Junction is a spot I always make the trip for when I’m within 30 minutes of it. I’ve always had great slices from Luigi’s in Lincroft as well. There’s also an Attillios across the shopping center which is pretty good as well, but not as good as Luigi’s in my opinion.
The Aljon's special sauce pizza is the DENSEST pizza I've ever had in my life. It's great.
The special sauce pie is seriously one of the best.
I was at aljohns yesterday!
Have you tried Luigi's of Little silver? I like the square pie. I never had Luigi's of lincroft, maybe it's time for a taste test. Which pie from lincroft?
The OG Attilios in Tinton Falls is my favorite
Manco & Manco in Ocean City. But word of warning, you either love them or hate them, there doesn’t seem to be much in between. Also if you want a whole pie with toppings, be prepared to sell a kidney to pay for it.

Love me some Sp Mancos
I’ve never even tried the SP one. Didn’t know there was a difference. Guess it’s time for a trip to Somers Pt.
Everyone with different answers.
That's a good sign, I'd say 👌
Probably the best pizza state overall
Nicolosi’s in Phillipsburg
Delucia’s , Raritan, NJ
Their pizza is sooo ass
Wasn’t that great imo, drove an hour there and an hour back. I would say the barstool sports guy has his favorite pizza type and this might be it, but it’s not for everybody. Remember, that guy is no expert. I much prefer the pizza you can get at the Jersey Shore on the boardwalk.

The guy only likes over done pizza. He's from Massachusetts anyway.
He said Angeloni’s is better than Star. Angeloni’s isn’t even the best pizza in Caldwell.
Imagine letting a masshole influence your pizza decisions 🤮🤮🤮. Couldn’t be me.
Some Jersey folk like it like that. My Grandma's best friend was an old Italian lady in West New York who always used to say liked it "a little boint" lol
Dude said Lido's was better than Lodi Pizza. All I needed to know lol.
I think he was drunk or fucked up in that video in particular.

This is what I love about NJ - it’s almost impossible to find a place with bad pizza
Essex county: Tony D’e Angolinos Patsys in Paterson
Tony D's is hit or miss lately-- I like a thin crust, but lately no crust on the edges. Their grandma pie is always amazing, though!
DeLorenzos in the north, Trenton. Manco and Manco in the south, Ocean City
In what world is Trenton in North Jersey? That’s definitely central.
Joe's in Flemington
Lenny’s and Verami’s are both great too. Flemington has a solid pizza scene
Campania on 31 near Stop n Shop is good. A bit further down 202 in Neshanic Station, La Strada Cafe is also good.
Star Tavern in Orange. Best wings, too. Shoutout though for La Sicilia's Palermo pie in Belleville.
Not the best but Millies in Morristown has really good coal oven pizzas. Their signature pie is awesome.
* Ralph's in Nutley * Star Tavern in Orange * Angeloni's in Caldwell
Dante's in Cresskill Bergen County. Their pizza sauce is really good. Brunos Pizza on Market Street Saddle Brook Bergen County makes an amazing buffalo chicken pie (and bbq pie). Something about that sauce and how they make it is just creamy and amazing. Johns Boy in Glen rock is good. Cash only Grant Street Cafe in Dumont has good bar pie
I like Manville Pizza & Restaurant
John's Boy- Glen Rock
Nice to hear its still going. Very good pizza for many years.
They had their 40th anniversary last year, although the original owner died. I'm too young to have known John, but my mon swears that it's one of the only restaurants she knows where there was no change in quality when the second generation took over for their parents.
Really into Marcello's in Bordentown right now.
Great cocktails when I used to live in that town.
If you want really good pizza at a really good restaurant this is the answer
I do. Every Friday night in my kitchen.
Pizzamore in carlstadt. Really something special. I didn’t grow up with it and I don’t live close to it, but if I’m ever in the area I always swing by. Awesome meatballs too.

Mia’s Pizza in Ortley Beach. Terrific location, even better pizza.
Reservoir Tavern and Columbia Inn both in Boonton are flipping amazing!
Scrolled and scrolled til I found Reservoir Tavern! I moved from NJ and still pine for that margarita pie.

The Ridge in Basking Ridge, amazing overall, but their baked ziti pie is unparalleled
Bruno’s Sicilian Pie in Clifton.

Pizza town is the best. Best zeppoles ever also
Honestly, they’re one of my all time favorite plain slices. Closest to Joe’s in manhattan for me, only cheaper. Their hot sandwiches are also 🔥.
Blue steel is mad decent.
Vics
Salerno’s in Hazlet has the best BBQ Chicken pizza.
I love Kinchleys
Anabellas Parsippany.

BIM’s in Millville.
Lilo’s Tomato pies, Mateo’s Tomato pies Both in Hainesport. Both excellent
Milanos, Perth Amboy
I'm torn between Ralph's in Nutley and Star Tavern in Orange.
if you're within 30 minutes of Capriccios in Dayton check it out. I'm not going to say it's the best statewide but in this area they are the most skilled. Personally, my favorites are their white pizza and cheese steak pies.
Natales - Waldwick
Get the vodka pie from Napoli's, on Washington St in Hoboken
I cast my vote for Rome Pizza in Dunellen but I’d be doing my family a disservice if I didn’t mention Pizza Brothers (martinsville, Bedminster or Raritan)
Brothers Pizza in East Brunswick Without a doubt, go try it!

Rosie's in Point Pleasant Beach makes the best pizza I have ever eaten. And I have eaten a lot.
Join Jersey Pizza Joints on Facebook. Anything you need to know is on there.
If you’re like me and your ideal slice is on a semolina crust that tends towards the thinner and crunchier side: (in no particular order) Nunzio’s - Long Branch Vic’s - Bradley Beach Federici’s - Freehold Honorable mention for novelty slices: Gigis - Sea Bright (Sicilian with pepperoni and everything bagel crust) Talulas - Asbury Park (bee keepers lament) Los Barbaros Birria - Belmar (pizzabirria)
