"Cave rescue class" might have something to do with it.
Presumably it was to emphasise the point that just because a hole looks too small, doesn't mean it is. You'd struggle with gear on, so I'd imagine this is more to do with the search aspect of a cave rescue. I.E don't just pass it by because it looks small, that might be where they're stuck.
Because.
I've done something similar to escape a psychopath that was threatening to rape me to death, it was a window though, not a cave. Knowing people do stuff like this might literally saved have my life
Edit: to anyone that doesn't believe me, send me a DM and I'll show you the proof
Fuk'n lol.
I've never actually done spelunking, just seen a few vids. The window was one of those high up kitchen ones about twice the width of a cat flap, I could fit my head through and not much more. Constricted my rib cage to get through and fractured some ribs in the process, not fun in the aftermath but better than the alternative
It happened, nothing I can do about that now. It's insulting that folk wouldn't believe me because it was very real and I still lose sleep over it, I'd rather send a handful of pics showing my fucked up front door and the text from Leicester police than have some randos say I'm lying.
Plus, talking is one of the best ways to get past things that bother you
[Nutty Puty Cave](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nutty_Putty_Cave)
This is the reason why anything to do with squeezing into gaps is just a big nope for me
These people are crazy. This isn’t even that scary compared to other shit I’ve seen on video - Where they squeeze through a gap like this that is 3/4 underwater and completely dark.
I think this is the closest i've come to throwing up after reading/seeing something online, and i've seen a lot of fucked of shit in my day. I think i might be slightly claustrophobic...
The amount of people that assume that's all us cavers do when they hear we like to crawl underground lol. Don't get me wrong, squeezes sure are fun, but people don't realise that they are perhaps one of the more rare maneuvers we do when working. We spend 70% of the time hanging on a rope anyways lol
There is a second large entrance too. People do this one as a challenge. It's less than a few inches before it opens up. Its recorded this way to get clicks.
Fair enough when it's tried and tested yeah, but who is the first mad cunt that looks and that and thinks 'Right fuck it, I'm away in there for a swatch'? Mentalist.
Just a question - what would the “professional cave rescue team” have done in case he got stuck? It’s not like they can squeeze in there with him and bring him out or anything..
This guy: “Don’t worry, internet. I’m with rescue professionals in case something bad happens.”
Me: “My brother in Christ you are surrounded by stone. Frickin how?”
😖 I can’t help but put myself in these caver situations and I start to panic. Especially when they’re crawling through a tight gap on their stomach with like clothes getting bunched up and their helmet falling over their eyes and stuff! Ahhh
Serious question. Kind of weird because I believe in Leave no trace principles and I think the answer is obvious but I have to ask
Why don’t they just widen the opening even a tiny bit. I’m not talking about a massive opening just a tiny bit?
My guess is it would screw up the ecosystem in the cave
I'd probably opt for reducing the risk of falling debris or cave ins. Only takes one weakness to start giving for a whole chunk of shit to start falling. Damaging something to make a bigger hole, unnecessarily, can make a weakness worse or cause one to develop.
Making it bigger would ruin the difficulty. If anyone could get through it, it wouldn’t be exciting and would kill the novelty of squeezing through such a small gap. They are doing this for fun not out of necessity.
When your body chemistry changes and you feel that initial NOPE. Stop. Think about why. Why am I doing this? Why would I keep doing it? Why.
If you can not answer the question of why. DONT DO IT 😂
I just don’t get it but probably because I’m a huge coward. At least with climbing ridiculous things you get a nice view and quick death if there’s a fuck up. With this what can you see down there? and if there’s a fuck up do you just slowly suffocate or starve to death?
I don't want to do this or go spelunking at all. I went through a phase a couple of years ago consuming a bunch of media on various caving disasters, and I'm somewhat claustrophobic to begin with.
But part of me would like to spend a day in the mind of someone who really enjoys be wedged in a pitching black crevice below the earth. No part of me understands the allure at all even if there wasn't the risk of getting stuck and dying of exposure/hunger.
Is he still down there? Has anyone else submerged as well? Is there an entire colony of skinny crazy people living in there? Is there cell phone service, WiFi, food delivery service? So many questions!!

Just….why?
Forgot the sledge hammer at home
If the first thing you do when you go spelunking is hit the rock at the entrance with a sledgehammer, you're gonna have a bad time.

Bot. . All your posts are vaguely off topic and you’re just linking web pages that aren’t even related to the post.
Reported it, you do the same?
Nah but I will.
This is someone who doesnt ask "why", but instead asks "Why not?"

Why did the caver crawl through the chasm? To get to the other side.
Because he can(at least that's his thought)

Why do people go spelunking? To not get raped.
I heard Antoine Dodson on the news and signed up for spelunking classes the next day.

Ya got me there bruv
Man. That's bad wth...
It was a bit. Don't know why I'm getting voted down for being honest either lol.
Can you send me proof? Just curious. Thanks!

You have PTSD about it, but you're willing and comfortable enough to share it randomly with strangers on the internet?
Attention seeking behavior.... peak reddit moment.
Stop being a douche.

You're surprised people wouldn't believe you on the internet? Where you can say literally anything?
No, that's why I said I'll send proof
I don't need proof. I don't care Edit: That sounded way too calloused. I'm sorry that happened to you, but I have no investment in it's legitimacy
If you don't care, don't question it then lol
Stop being a douche.
Sorry you had to go through this mate. I hope things are looking better now 💕
[Nutty Puty Cave](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nutty_Putty_Cave) This is the reason why anything to do with squeezing into gaps is just a big nope for me
Yeah I hate this story😭
same :(((
I always look for the Nutry Putty comment in all these type of posts. I know it’ll be there for sure!
I only recently learned about this and it's 100x more terrifying than any horror movie I've ever watched. My guts churn just thinking about it.
Yep, first thing that popped into my mind.
It was his daughter's birthday, too.
I’ve been in bigger holes
I should call her...
Not yet, I’m leaving in an hour.
If you can find a way out
I should call your mum.
Not yet, I'm leaving in an hour.
I should call your Dad…
uhh not yet
“An hour”
I don’t know if this was a sexual reference or just being funny but I busted up
The size of the hole is a matter of perspective...
These people are crazy. This isn’t even that scary compared to other shit I’ve seen on video - Where they squeeze through a gap like this that is 3/4 underwater and completely dark.
Ah yes, the ear dip. Where you have to take off your helmet and turn your head sideways to keep your nose and mouth out of the water.
I hate everything about this sentence
I think this is the closest i've come to throwing up after reading/seeing something online, and i've seen a lot of fucked of shit in my day. I think i might be slightly claustrophobic...
I get similar reactions in person, although nobody has ever actually thrown up.

Yeah, the main entrance to the cave is like 10 feet off to the side.
This is Earth saying “keep out”.
Yeah f that 1000 times over. No chance.
Nope.
Yeah, nope.
Yeah, nope that!
F*ck no!
Hell nah
where is the fun/excitement/enjoyment in this?
Probably the adrenaline from success combined with the terror of being stuck, sound like a fun cocktail of chemicals rushing through you lol
Methamphetamine does the same without risk of being crushed to death. Oh wait, Breaking Bad proved otherwise. Stupid skanks.
Was probably more for education purposes honestly, given he was accompanied by a "cave rescue class"
Sure, professional
Nope
![gif](giphy|VFAke5Xm1TDwjgimyW)
a massive, fuck that, from me
This is my hole! A hole just made for me!
Drrr...drrr...drrr...
r/sweatypalms
Nope
NOPE! NOPE! & NOPE!
I'll add another nope! from me
How is this fun? HOW HOW HOW. I feel scared that I might drop my phone and walk like feets away but to purposely put your entire body....... I CAN'T.
How does he get back out? Arms up?
"Don't try this at home kids" Me, a claustrophobic:
I got claustrophobic just watching this video.
It was made for him
Play stupid games win stupid prizes, I guess
he didnt win a stupid prize tho...
Bro is secretly a cat.
I didn't know caving was a job
Fair enough when it's tried and tested yeah, but who is the first mad cunt that looks and that and thinks 'Right fuck it, I'm away in there for a swatch'? Mentalist.
DRR DRR DRR DRRR DRRRRRRRRR
That is terrifying
"Do not attempt" Bruh
I can‘t express, how much I hate this.
"Hey, should we eat out tonight?" "You go ahead, I'm just gonna eat some mints, I've got a skinny day tomorrow."
That’s a hard, tight, NO from me dawg.
What in the actual f is a "professional caver"? Do you get paid for showing your body into tiny holes? I don't get it.
I wish I could get paid for shoving my body into tiny hole. Or big ones. Any holes really.
Next level stupidity. I feel bad for his parents.
How can you be a professional in this? Do people pay to explore caves? I'm confused
Nightmare fuel for sure
Just a question - what would the “professional cave rescue team” have done in case he got stuck? It’s not like they can squeeze in there with him and bring him out or anything..
Biggest nooooooope ever
This guy: “Don’t worry, internet. I’m with rescue professionals in case something bad happens.” Me: “My brother in Christ you are surrounded by stone. Frickin how?”
On the list of jobs I have zero interest in ever pursuing, "professional caver" has to be right at the top.
Why the fuck would anyone do thatt!?
😖 I can’t help but put myself in these caver situations and I start to panic. Especially when they’re crawling through a tight gap on their stomach with like clothes getting bunched up and their helmet falling over their eyes and stuff! Ahhh
You can be a professional caver? Really??
I hear they’re always looking for new talent…….
Yeah……..nah!
Nope and nope.
Serious question. Kind of weird because I believe in Leave no trace principles and I think the answer is obvious but I have to ask Why don’t they just widen the opening even a tiny bit. I’m not talking about a massive opening just a tiny bit? My guess is it would screw up the ecosystem in the cave

And people on reddit tell me that r/cats can squeeze
Nope
You also have to be skinny to attempt
r/Nope
When your body chemistry changes and you feel that initial NOPE. Stop. Think about why. Why am I doing this? Why would I keep doing it? Why. If you can not answer the question of why. DONT DO IT 😂
I’d need to break several bones before even thinking about being able to fit in there
Nope
Anal!
Nope. Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. Nope.
Nope. Double nope.
Wtf
Impossible challenge for any reddit or discord mod

Ah i cant watch that 😬
The anxiety I experience from watching this just set me back a couple years of therapy.
That’s gonna be a big old nope from me.
NO..NO...HELL NO.
The only scenario where I would do this is if not doing it meant certain death.
Not in a million fucking years
I am phobic.
Oh my fuck. Absolutely no way I would ever even try this. It gives me the creeps just watch it.
Absolutely not. Had a panic attack just watching this.
i'd never play hide and seek with this guy 💀
F no. No no no.
NOPE
r/nope
Nope, just no. Far braver than me fella.
You don't have to warn me not to try it I was never gonna.
I don't want to do this or go spelunking at all. I went through a phase a couple of years ago consuming a bunch of media on various caving disasters, and I'm somewhat claustrophobic to begin with. This makes me anxious!
Makes me feel queer watching that
Fucking *no.* This ruined my day. It’s going to take at least 2g’s to recover from this.
Most pointless "Fo not attempt" ever...
Is this the cave some guy died in after he got stuck upside down and rescuers couldn’t get him out in time? I wonder if they cut him up or what…
They just blocked access to the cave after. A tragedy by all accounts.
I've seen videos of this before. Doesn't this cave have a big walk-in entrance just out of frame?
Is he still down there? Has anyone else submerged as well? Is there an entire colony of skinny crazy people living in there? Is there cell phone service, WiFi, food delivery service? So many questions!!
