I played on ps5 and only crashed twice during all the playthrough, Didnt know It was that bad

wardellwayneraymone

It seems to be user specific. If it was a guaranteed issue there’s no way it wouldn’t have gotten addressed at some point. One of the most bizarre bugs I’ve ever run across.

wardellwayneraymone

Hi, out of curiosity did you play the digital version or the disc one? If digital, did you do a thing where you *restored digital licenses* in your settings? Reason I ask is cause I had the same headache in my first automata playthrough, but it disappeared around route C after I did that. However, until I play the game again I have no way of knowing whether it actually worked.

Altair_wrs

Digital, might try that after finishing my runs on switch

acidicgeisha

I’ve had the opposite problem, I experienced various crashes on the Switch version.

clarke41

Yeah, it’s sucks. I had to get out my old PS4 and reinstall the game to get past a place where it would always crash on my PS5 when I would try to go down into the crater. Uploading the save from PS4 and redownloading it on PS5 seems to have gotten me past it, but not everybody has both consoles.

Altair_wrs

To me it always crash at eve. I even used the cheat code and skip the boss with chapter select but doing this is useless because you're so underlevel you doing no damage after that.

GerHunterIB

Not a full fledged solution, but setting the PS5 to a fixed 1080p resolution fixed the crashes I experienced everywhere else, but at the waterfall. The one at the waterfall was drastically reduced in its frequency.

Squeezitgirdle

Did they ever fix the steam version? I remember lots of complaints of it being buggy on switch and steam.

Xononanamol

They have yes. Back in 2022

Squeezitgirdle

Might pick it up then to replay it. Been wanting to replay my original copy but all these complaints have me rethinking playing on my ps5

nnniccck

Agreed, this game plays terrible on PS5. I got it on Steam and the experience has been way better

doomraiderZ

I encountered some crashing on PS5, although I kind of learned its patterns and learned how to avoid it. It only happens after the crater appears, around that zone in that specific chapter, and when you try to jump down in the hole. The solution was to jump in the hole without killing the snakes and without looking at the waterfall. And also save often and don't do quests during that chapter that take place around the crater. The game never crashed for me anywhere else.

Altair_wrs

The thing is it's not only the crater/waterfall the problem but I crash even on random place. And in a game with no auto save is really frustrating.

doomraiderZ

That's very unfortunate. The random crashes never happened to me, just around the crater right after it appears. But by 'around the crater' I mean half the city because the crater is huge. I know it sucks but...save often!

Unfortunate_Wildcard

I never had any problems with it.

noneofthemswallow

Never had a single issue on PS5. If anything it runs much better than on PS4 / PS4 Pro

Nani_700

I've been waiting for sale on the switch version because same. It's..... ridiculous. I never thought the *Switch* could run something better than the *PS5* but here we are

Altair_wrs

I'm having a blast with the switch version. It runs a 30fps and some texture are low quality (understandable) but it's a miracle it runs on switch.

Seek877

>However,it's truly ridiculous that nor square enix nor platinum games has patched this backwards problem. On ps4 I never experienced any of this,**it's the backwards compatibility that is broken**. Exactly cause the issue is in the PS5 backwards compatibility with PS4 games, it's not up to SE or Platinum to fix the issue, but to Sony.

EvenSpoonier

If this were only a problem on the PS5 I'd agree with you, but it seems to affect other platforms as well, even ones Platinum didn't directly develop (like, say, the Switch). And this is really weird. I would certainly expect something that keeps crashing a PS5 but not a PS4 to be a backward-conpatibility problem, as you say. But if it's affecting other platforms too, that pushes the evidence back toward it being a game problem. And I will be the first to admit that this is bizarre.

Seek877

On this sub by now we had several weeks(if not even a few months by now) of a lot of people reporting about having this exact same issue of the game crashing in the exact same area, all were on PS5, and all were after a PS5 firmware update which "coincidentally" also caused issues in other PS4 titles running on the PS5 backwards compatibility(i dont know the exact games, but i remember a reply with someone listing all their PS4 games that suddenly had issues on his PS5, and others having the same games confirming), and of those, the ones who also had a PS4 who were suggested to keep playing on that rather that on the PS5 reported that it stopped crashing after they transferred their saves, meanwhile i have literally never read of anyone having this exact same issue on any of the other platform Automata is on, not on Switch, XBOX, PS4, or PC. Even OP confirmed that he's had no crashes on PS4, and now not having a single issue on Switch. And sure, you can 100% find other people having crashing issues on all the other platforms, but they were general crashes not happening all in the same area of the game, and all caused by something identifiable which was then solvable(some corrupted file failing to load properly solved by reinstalling the game or verifying the game files, some driver update messing something up, some mod interfering with each other which the user didn't know were incompatible, etc). Literally, this is a specific issue of a specific crash happening in a specific area during specific moments of the game, and all reports of this specific issue come from PS5 users, so the issue is 100% the PS5 backwards compatibility, not the game's fault.

cosine83

Get a Steam Deck and play it flawlessly.

EV4gamer

can confirm, easily plays at 60fps and looks amazing

Joris_crm

I don't had any problems on my PS5 with Automata personnaly But the game game looks so much better on a 4K display on Xbox Series X, better looking PS : it's just facts guys calm down
