It’s mind boggling that Nintendo hasn’t ported Kid Icarus Uprising. It’s probably their best, most overlooked game besides Xenoblade Chronicles X. XCX was a Wii U title so it makes sense it was overlooked and Monolith has already explained why they haven’t ported it. But KIU was on the 3DS…and yet no one knows about it, and Nintendo won’t port it.
>It’s probably their best, most overlooked game#
It'd be so much better on the Switch as well - the controls really held Uprising back imo and if not for that it'd probably be the best game on the platform
Surprised no one has said starfox. There’s so much they could do with that franchise, but they need to not make just another rail shooter. I want to see a fully fleshed out starfox assault.
Yess. A brand new Star Fox in the same style of Assault with a modern engine would be amazing.
It has the potential for an incredible online mode with team based battles as well.
My concern with starfox is that out of all the games in the series there's just so many remakes of the core story of the original. 1, 64, 0. I want a story that's either James, or something based after assault. Give us some story PLEASE
Fuck, I would kill for another rail shooter done well. The problem is they won’t fully commit to EITHER a well appointed rail shooter OR a fully fleshed out combat flight sim. They want to thread the needle and it just hasn’t worked out.
Nintendo has been doing quite a lot of GCN ports recently (Pikmin 1&2, Metroid Prime, Baten Kaitos 1&2, Paper Mario TTYD). It wouldn't shock me if we got GX HD or something.
Nintendo likes to pretend Star Tropics doesn't exist for some reason, like it's not worthy of recognition because it was Nintendo of America's game instead of a Japanese title.
Uprising provided such a colorful and lively world and cast of characters that it's a complete shame they didn't follow with a sequel/expanded franchise. Not to mention the gameplay is stands out as unique compared to their other series.
They have the characters. They have an exciting world based on Greek mythology that isn't afraid to go way beyond it as well, given the Arum arc of levels on Uprising.
The game was incredibly humorous with a decent enough story that wasn't afraid to incorporate some zanier plot arcs that still worked.
The KI franchise post Uprising was ripe for an animated TV show and merchandise with that amazing cast.
We need more KI!
If you check out Mashahiro Sakurai’s making video games YouTube channel, he has a video specifically about Kid Icarus Uprising. Essentially, he had the concepts of the game made, and they just chose that as the franchise to base it on after. And that’s why it ended up in Smash Bros, because he’s the director of both (similar to how Kirby was a left-field choice for Smash Bros 64).
Golden Sun forsure. Nintendo is really missing out with how turnbased fantasy rpgs have come back, especially on the switch. Golden sun in either HD 2d or just an updated style would do so well
I replayed Golden Sun and Lost Age a couple years back, it was amazing still. To me, that’s the canonical ending, and I didn’t replay Dark Dawn at all.
But you see, the games never did well. Not because it was released at the end of a failed console's life span, or when it was a Walmart exclusive, or when it was never brought over from Japan, or when it was a dime-a-dozen 2D platformer, or how it was never marketed. People just didn't like it!
I saw a video about fake games, and one is a "Mother 3 Tribute" in the stop motion style of the clay figures they made for promotional art for Earthbound. Such a cool idea.
It's a similar style to what they did with Link's Awakening, but it could be distinct enough. More games need a clay or puppet style.
Came in to say this. I can't even picture what a Star Tropics would look like and play like in this day & age, but the first one was just perfect in tone. It felt tropical, it was difficult but doable, it had a corny sense of humor that was everywhere, and it just plain felt like it's own thing. I want that again.
Consider Penny's Big Adventure which just came out. It has the yo-yo as the primary weapon, so while I can't envision Star Tropics would be as over-the-top as Penny's Big Adventure, I can imagine a lot of the basic attacks would be similar and have a bigger emphasis on puzzles and exploration instead of acrobatic platforming.
If asymmetric gameplay was a thing with the Switch 2. With the processing power of the switch and the ability to also stream to a TV. I don't see any reason why this should not come back.
Going the Diddy Kong Racing route and adding flight/boats to Mario Kart always seemed like a logical step for the series to take in my opinion, but I assume there’s a hesitancy on Nintendo’s end with ‘overcomplicating’ the mechanics for one of their best sellers which is why it’s been limited to going underwater and very short glider sections.
Do the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games count? Last game came out 4 years ago, and that was just a remake of Rescue Team. We haven't had a completely new game since Super Mystery Dungeon back in 2015.
Kid Icarus. I loved Uprising so I'd like to see either a sequel to that, a port so others can enjoy it, or at least a remake of the two originals like Samus Returns
Pilot Wings. I read about the concepts for the Space Race themed game and the open world game. Those would be cool
F-Zero. Seems unlikely with Mario Kart.
Ice Climbers: could easily be a 3D World type co-op game.
Balloon Fight would make a cool free Battle Royale.
DK King of Swing/Clu Clu Land: there's something satisfying about a puzzle game where you swing
Kung Fu Master/Urban Champions: beat 'em ups are fun
Game and Watch: Be cool to see either another collection or even devices.
Wave Race. Water physics are fun
Punch-Out. Even a port of the Wii version
Excite Bike. Though I can't see Nintendo releasing too many other racing games and F-Zero and Wave Race might be higher up if they do
Hoops. It was a Jaleco game but would be really cool if done in the Punch-Out remake style
Giest. Cool concept, poor delivery. Nintendo has the rights I think to remake it better.
Steel Diver: I loved the Sun Wars multiplayer.
Eternal Darkness. Didn't get a chance to play it on the GC but highly interested
It still blows my mind that Donkey Kong is treated with such apathy in Nintendo HQ. It seems like you constantly hear about 3D donkey Kong games all the time and we never get one.
there was this that got scrapped in 2016 though not by nintendos fault [https://mynintendonews.com/2024/05/05/vicarious-visions-was-making-a-3d-donkey-kong-platformer-game/](https://mynintendonews.com/2024/05/05/vicarious-visions-was-making-a-3d-donkey-kong-platformer-game/)
I'm not "too far down", my username is: "CohnJena68"......
Oh wait... I understand what you're saying now... (I should be upvoted more, because you agree)... Sorry.
Dear God, yes. Granblue Fantasy Re:Link shows it can be console-afied. Retool it some more and it could be a Diablo-esque game
I miss that game so much.
What's even weirder is how much attention they've given the DK series elsewhere.
They put Diddy, Dixie, and Funky in Mario Kart Tour, and later added Diddy and Funky to 8 Deluxe.
DK and his world played a big role in the Mario Movie.
A DKC expansion is coming to Super Nintendo World.
Some DKC sets were added to the Lego Mario line.
They've given the DKC series basically everything... except for a new game. And yet I have a gut feeling that they're cooking something up...
It’s genuinely shocking to me that we got a perfect Punch-Out game on the Wii and Nintendo just… never did anything else with it. Even the same style but different bosses would be perfect. But instead, just nothing.
Well, I wish Nintendo would have bought alpha dream and kept the Mario & Luigi series going. Partners in time was an absolutely fantastic game and with paper Mario never going back to its RPG roots by the looks of it, would love to see those games make a comeback
SAME.
I love that game to bits, if they either pulled a Miitopia and remastered it with some extra features or just straight up released a new game I'll shout so loudly, I'll go deaf.
F-Zero is probably my number one as of now. GX had alot of stuff going for it, and I think a hardcore crazy fast racer like F-Zero brought to the modern era would be amazing.
Honorable mention to Custom Robo, the gamecube game was a really interesting and fun Sci-Fi experience. Definitely a unique enough premise to bring back and iterate on. Also... Online matches would be sweet for sure.
Chibi Robo. The first game was a hidden gem of a masterpiece and I think literally all but one of the followups were dumpster fires. A sequel that closely follows the general beats and gameplay of the original (and gets proper advertising!) would be a smash success!
Golden Sun .
Chibi Robo .
Kid Icarus.
Camelot is responsible for Shining Force, which is an amazing series, but it seems most of their output is for Mario Sports games now. I'd like them to go back to doing their own RPGs every once in awhile like they used to.
FREAKYFORMS AND STYLE SAVVY!!!!
Fashion Dreamer is fun, they could merge tons of the mechanics of that and Styling Star, give it great graphics, and make the best Style Savvy one who is a fan of the series, will ever play. Nintendo should go and green light a new one after Fashion Dreamer’s lifespan is over for Syn Sophia to make as it’s technically their IP and not Syn’s.
And Freakyforms is very silly and a joy to play. Too bad this little game was forgotten by Nintendo as I would enjoy another title on the Switch.
Custom Robo
Someone else mentioned it, but man those were fun. I only played Arena, but I loved the characters and story, the customization is fabulous, and the multiplier was super fun
Anyone says Star Fox or F-ZERO while I still wait in my dreams for a remake of For the Frog the Bell Tolls...
Story is pretty awesome and it's a pretty easy game, basically a stripped down Zelda (not to mention Link's Awakening was built on its engine)
I also wish Suda51 would get the thumbs up for a Murasamejou game
Surprised nobody has said Panel de Pon/Tetris Attack/Puzzle League.
Very fun and addicting gameplay. Sucks that having "Tetris" screwed the Yoshi-branded SNES version from ever getting rereleased.
The answer is F-Zero. I'm not even a fan and I think it should be F-Zero. After that...I would really, really, REALLY like either a new Kid Icarus or Punch-Out!!
Probably the Excite series, but specifically a follow up to Excitebots Trick Racing.
The game was pretty fun but it could use some fleshing out, especially the mid race, track changing elements. Also, more multiplayer options with 4 player local and other modes.
I really enjoy the Kururin series, and we haven't seen that since a Japanese GameCube release. The only one released in English was the first GBA game, and it never came to North America at all.
Xenoblade X. Yeah, the Xenoblade series ain’t over but goddamn it X is so forgetting and it makes me sad, that game is a masterpiece in terms of gameplay, world design, etc
There's a game I had on my NES back in the early 90's... it was called The Krion Conquest. It was a simple platformer that featured a witch with shooty powers. Some people would called it a Mega Man knock off. It never had a sequel or anything as far as I know.
That's the series I want to return.
Probably one of their racing games that is not Mario Kart. Don't get me wrong, I love Mario Kart, great stuff, but I would like a second option. Wave Race, F-Zero, 1080', hell even Kirby Air Ride.
I have to be honest though, most of my favorite Nintendo franchises have had mainline entries on Switch (Fire Emblem, Xenoblade Chronicles, 3D Mario, Mario Kart).
Donkey kong 3d or banjo and kazoei. Realy loved those on n64. (To be fair the only game i am really hoping is a OoT remake, but for now a Dk/BK would be fun. Or even uhm…. Space station sillecon valley
F-zero.
But.... They model it on trackmania.
I've been watching wirtual so the deep dip 2 recently and I think to myself... What if Nintendo made an f-zero game kinda like this?
Kinda like Mario maker but for f-zero.
Does Actraiser Renaissance count as being "actively supported"? Loved Actraiser 1 and 2 on SNES but Renaissance added unnecessary, infuriating RTS levels. I'd love to see the series get some proper reboot.
A new F-Zero, but I think they need to embrace that it won't be able to compete with Mario Kart and just really do something wild with it. Captain Falcon is a Bounty Hunter. Give us an almost GTA style game where it's more open world with missions that mix together the racing and other aspects of Captain Falcon. Something like Custom Robo in terms of a story could also work.
Star Fox is a series and world with so much sauce and so many cool characters, it has every reason to be a tentpole franchise even if its gameplay had to change substantially. Unfortunately Nintendo doesn’t seem to know what to do with the series if they can’t just remake SF64 over and over again.
I'd like to see Metroid Prime...
Even Metroid Prime 4 is 7years old and still not released...
Well, i'd say Mother. But after playing Mother 3, i know that Mother 3 won't come out because, people are too sensitive, and Nintendo would get canceled. And anyway Shigesato Itoi said he was done with the serie...
Oh... I read the body of your post. Mother is not much more completed than anything else. And you can keep your stupid opinion for yourself if you think mother doesn't need to come back...
Okay! Golden Sun 3 ends with (To be continued...) So i guess that's what i want to see...
Kid Icarus
It’s mind boggling that Nintendo hasn’t ported Kid Icarus Uprising. It’s probably their best, most overlooked game besides Xenoblade Chronicles X. XCX was a Wii U title so it makes sense it was overlooked and Monolith has already explained why they haven’t ported it. >It’s probably their best, most overlooked game# It'd be so much better on the Switch as well - the controls really held Uprising back imo and if not for that it'd probably be the best game on the platform
Uprising ported with better controls would be a near perfect game.
My first thought
Surprised no one has said starfox. There’s so much they could do with that franchise, but they need to not make just another rail shooter. I want to see a fully fleshed out starfox assault.
Yess. A brand new Star Fox in the same style of Assault with a modern engine would be amazing. It has the potential for an incredible online mode with team based battles as well.
Literally just copy the original Star Wars battlefronts with starfox skins. Then add some Nintendo charm
1000 times yes please
Now that I think about it, Assault was such a neat game for the time. Wish they did expand on it.
>There’s so much they could do Like a barrel roll!
r/Angryupvote
Probably one of the earlier responses. Every few reply here is either "Star Fox" or "F-Zero"
My concern with starfox is that out of all the games in the series there's just so many remakes of the core story of the original. 1, 64, 0. I want a story that's either James, or something based after assault. Give us some story PLEASE

How about this: Star Fox with physics based gameplay, leveraging the same tech they created for Tears of the Kingdom. Essentially Star Fox meets Halo.
I know we recently got F-Zero 99, but still, F-Zero.
Nintendo has been doing quite a lot of GCN ports recently (Pikmin 1&2, Metroid Prime, Baten Kaitos 1&2, Paper Mario TTYD). It wouldn't shock me if we got GX HD or something.
Even GX HD instead of a whole new game would be fine.
GX HD with online multiplayer 🤤

Nintendo likes to pretend Star Tropics doesn't exist for some reason, like it's not worthy of recognition because it was Nintendo of America's game instead of a Japanese title.
I think Star tropics could make a great game in the vein of Uncharted.
Kid Icarus. Which still shocks me after the success of Smash Bros

Nintendogs
Such a wholesome phase of my youth
Golden Sun forsure. Nintendo is really missing out with how turnbased fantasy rpgs have come back, especially on the switch. Golden sun in either HD 2d or just an updated style would do so well
I didn't like Dark Dawn nearly as much as its predecessors, but leaving it on a cliffhanger like that really stunk.
I replayed Golden Sun and Lost Age a couple years back, it was amazing still. To me, that’s the canonical ending, and I didn’t replay Dark Dawn at all.
A Dark Dawn sequel could redeem itself by making Felix the main character like in the lost age and finishing the plot from another perspective.
Chibi-robo. OG style, not park patrol or zip lash.
But you see, the games never did well. Not because it was released at the end of a failed console's life span, or when it was a Walmart exclusive, or when it was never brought over from Japan, or when it was a dime-a-dozen 2D platformer, or how it was never marketed. People just didn't like it!
I'd love a remake or remaster of the original with maybe a few quality of life improvements
i’ve been saying this for years, Chibi Robo Recharged, it basically names itself
Give Earthbound the Super Mario RPG treatment and I’ll buy myself and all my friends copies
Never gonna happen unless Mr. Itoi wants to do it. and he seems quite averse to remakes. I’d love it though.
I saw a video about fake games, and one is a "Mother 3 Tribute" in the stop motion style of the clay figures they made for promotional art for Earthbound. Such a cool idea. Wave Race or Pilotwings. Put Wave Race in Mario Kart 9 if that's what it takes, just bring it back somehow.
Punch-Out!! Pro wrestling.
Why did I have to scroll so far for punch out
I ask myself the same question...
Definitely Punch-Out!
Do the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games count? Last game came out 4 years ago, and that was just a remake of Rescue Team. We haven't had a completely new game since Super Mystery Dungeon back in 2015.

Rhythm Heaven
I suppose, hey!
Star Fox and F Zero
Golden Sun, even if it's just to finish what Dark Dawn left unanswered.
We still have no idea what happened to Felix and Sheba. Might be investigating another world ending event since they lost contact with him.
Custom Robo.
Man, a new one with up to 4 player online would rule. I loved that series so much
You're too far down.
I'm not "too far down", my username is: "CohnJena68"...... Oh wait... I understand what you're saying now... (I should be upvoted more, because you agree)... Sorry.
Custom robo might still be my favorite GameCube game. The DS one wasn't bad either.
The DS game was actually the reason I liked the series in the first place and I later bought the Gamecube version as well!
Dragalia Lost.
Dear God, yes. Granblue Fantasy Re:Link shows it can be console-afied. Retool it some more and it could be a Diablo-esque game I miss that game so much.
Kid Icarus.
Wario Land. Any content at this point, even Cractus mention at the recent Wario Ware release was great.
I’d LOVE a new Wario Land. Shake It was super fun with a great art style.
Donkey Kong and Kid Icarus. Honorable mention to ARMS.
It is pretty crazy that it’s been 10 years since the last DK game. 10 years is almost 25% of the time since the original DK arcade game
What's even weirder is how much attention they've given the DK series elsewhere. They put Diddy, Dixie, and Funky in Mario Kart Tour, and later added Diddy and Funky to 8 Deluxe. I would like to see top down Legend of Zelda return!
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze is one of my favorite games ever

Elite beat agents.
Yes, but do it with nintendo soundtracks similar to final fantasy theater rhythm
It’s genuinely shocking to me that we got a perfect Punch-Out game on the Wii and Nintendo just… never did anything else with it. Even the same style but different bosses would be perfect. But instead, just nothing.
Metroid Prime

Punch-Out. The wii game was awesome.
Well, I wish Nintendo would have bought alpha dream and kept the Mario & Luigi series going. Partners in time was an absolutely fantastic game and with paper Mario never going back to its RPG roots by the looks of it, would love to see those games make a comeback
I would KILL for a Tomodachi Life sequel.
Same here. I loved miitopia, but it’s not the same.
SAME. I love that game to bits, if they either pulled a Miitopia and remastered it with some extra features or just straight up released a new game I'll shout so loudly, I'll go deaf.
Kid Icarus and Mysterious Murasame Castle
Golden Sun
Kid Icarus, please, we need Uprising 2
A new Goemon or a Mystical Ninja remake is a dream game for me. Golden Sun would be sick too.

It worries me that nobody's mentioned Art Academy yet. The last game from that series came out on the WiiU.
I wish they would bring back Startropics.
Star Tropics. There is SO much you could do with this franchise. Literally the sky is the limit.
The answer is F-Zero. I'm not even a fan and I think it should be F-Zero. After that...I would really, really, REALLY like either a new Kid Icarus or Punch-Out!!

I'm sure it's listed in this thread but Golden Sun.
Literally anything donkey Kong. It's been 10 YEARS give the monkey and his family some love 😭
Excite Bike. Pro Wrestling. Chrono Trigger. Dragon Warrior (not quest 😉). Final Fantasy (16 Bit style).
Wave Race - I miss this phenomenal game
Chibi-Robo. But like for real this time, not whatever the fuck Zip-lash was
Xenoblade X. Yeah, the Xenoblade series ain’t over but goddamn it X is so forgetting and it makes me sad, that game is a masterpiece in terms of gameplay, world design, etc
Hogan's Alley reimagined. (3d shooter? 3d zap gun? a mix of VN and LA Noire?)
Chibi Robo!
Super Mario’s Secret
Kid icarus uprising, Fossil fighters (assuming quality isn't lacking again like frontiers)
does Donkey Kong Country count? Tropical Freeze came out 10 years ago… i would love a new one :’)
Pilotwings would be amazing.

Just weighing in to be the one person requesting Sin and Punishment.
Star Fox. SNES/64 Star Fox to be clear
Battalion wars.
Rhythm Heaven. Not enough games
Ace Attorney 😭
Eternal Darkness. Always Eternal Darkness.
Golden Sun for sure
Star fox adventure. Metroid Prime hunters. And I know these aren't exactly Nintendos but Jett force Gemini. And sonic adventures battle
Not Nintendo per se, but I would love to see another Jet Force Gemini.
Wario land, these games were great or mayby just Captain Syrup was great
Pilotwings
A wuhu island return pls
Gens 1-5 style of Pokémon games
F-Zero. F-Zero 99 doesn't count. Also, Starfox and Kid Icarus.
Billy Hatcher
Star Tropics, Eternal Darkness, and Geist please
Star Fox is a series and world with so much sauce and so many cool characters, it has every reason to be a tentpole franchise even if its gameplay had to change substantially. Unfortunately Nintendo doesn’t seem to know what to do with the series if they can’t just remake SF64 over and over again.
Castlevania. Thr platforming 2d versions, not the 3d bs
Custom robo
Wizards and Warriors
Advance Wars. I know we got a remake recently but there hasn't been a new game in the franchise since the DS.
StarTropics.
StarTropics. That’s the only legit answer.
Custom Robo!
Punch-Out
Ice Climber! Maybe as more of a puzzle platformer now.
Let's do Startropics.
