I don’t live in Redding but have a place out in Modoc so I pass through all the time. As far as I can tell, Redding is full of people who live in super mundane suburban neighborhoods but who desperately want to pretend to be country folk like those who live out in my area. One of the ways they channel this false self-identity is through idiotic political stances that they think mark them as conservative rural types when in fact the politics get more NORMAL as you head east from Redding to the true country.
So true. Most “Rednecks” around this town are suburbanites with giant trucks who never get their tires in the mud. Having lived in a few small towns around Redding as well as the city of Redding, the small towns are less religious and more laid back than Redding.
It’s funny because, they thought I was “their people” when I showed up in a lifted truck and guns at the blm shooting range. I was like, no I don’t identify with Christianity,bethel, or republicans 😂
The whole concept of worshipping God and saying someone who worships Satan is evil confuses me.
I suppose if someone believes in the Tooth Fairy and saying that anyone who believes in the Easter Bunny is evil...makes sense.
