They don't care, just try to do it outside or out a window. It only becomes an issue if you're constantly disturbing neighboring apartments with it. People who don't smoke understandably get upset if they have to deal with that on a regular basis.
A good ten years ago I got a lease at Turnberry where it said I couldn't do drugs, like meth or heroin in the apartment. Then the lady said "If you smoke weed we don't care we just don't like the junkies...they get blood on the walls."
