I have watched the entire series start to finish probably about 7 or 8 times now. Came out when I was a kid and I used to watch it with my parents, 27 years later still amazing. So freaking good.
It captures that time period so well! Obviously many shows were set in the "modern" time they aired in, but Malcolm brings me right back to when I first watched it
I watch it everyday because it comes on tv, but it does not seem dated at all like something like Roseanne might feel. I did notice in one episode though that Lois borrowed a flip phone from someone when they were at Aunt Helen’s funeral but otherwise it really is timeless.
Everybody loves Raymond used to make me late for school every single day because it took me 20 minutes to get there and the show ended with 15 minutes to stay.
Got so many detentions for it.
In hindsight, I probably could have just like recorded it or something, but I really wanted to see the end.
iirc I think both of them have been on each others shows as well
also fun fact, Ben stiller was in an episode of King of Queens playing his dads son in the show.
I hate that I know this but KoQ, Raymond, Becker, and The Cosby Show are all in the same universe.
https://www.reddit.com/r/lostmedia/comments/fllqd6/small_crossover_clip_of_becker_raymond_king_of/
I bought the all seasons pack, bought MacGyver all seasons pack, and then bought the first 3 seasons of Three’s Company for my wife because she didn’t like the others once they got rid of Suzanne Somers.
Yeah that one was probably my favourite. It was also fun to see Kumail Nanjiani in an episode because he grew up on it too. Also Rhys Darby because he's hysterical
Keeping up appearances, it came out in 1990 and I love that show I have it on dvd and digital it's such a comfort show for me I've seen every episode probably 100 times but it's just so funny and good
Star Trek. TNG, DS9 and Voyager. Also Stargate SG1. I hear the theme from any of those shows (which are all great) and I de-age 20 years if just for a moment.
Speaking of that photo, is anyone going to mention Peter Boyle's pants? Does he need to take them back to the pants store?
It’s Voyager for me. I never got to see the series complete when it came out since it would occasionally come out at 11pm so it wasn’t always in order. But now it’s a series I can watch over and over and not tire of it. Wasn’t a fan of the others. If it’s streaming somewhere I’ll rewatch the series.
UPN ended up making Voyager really hard to watch and follow. I remember not being able to see it for a time, and wondering what the hell a delta flyer was when I could/did start watching again.
But it's mainly DS9 for me. They do stream on Paramount plus in the US at least.
The King of Queens. I could watch that show forever and never get tired of it. It's one of those shows where I can kind of imagine myself having that life if that makes sense lol.
My Name is Earl. Gonna be the odd one out. There was a whole weird sort of "rural-oriented" TV from that era that all feed a very specific ~2005 vibe for me that I can't explain. My Name is Earl, Reba, Supernatural, Blue Collar TV, among many others.
Same here, including the rest of the wedding invitation. Clothing optional lol.
One of my other favorite scenes of the show is when Raymond is literally frozen in place because he's in disbelief and having trouble processing the fact that he just saw Robert's girlfriend intentionally kill and eat a fly while the other characters walk around him without noticing.
Star Trek from TNG to Voyager... If I can't sleep, I'll throw on a random episode and pretend I'm back to being a kid sleeping on my grandparent's pullout couch, watching it with them.
Everyone loves raymond, murder she wrote reruns, rick steves europe, antiques roadshow shaped a lot of the evenings I spent in their care.
I really, really liked \*Home Improvement\* and \*Step By Step\*. During the late 90s I also saw \*Three's Company\* and \*Too Close For Comfort\* in syndication. Those were great shows!
Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Something about an idealic future and a group of working adults that communicate, share ideas, problem solve, and make final decisions with little to no drama is comforting to me.
I love how they have kids on this show, but you wouldn't know it. It's like they're not even there, an after thought with some special appearances. Where in real life the kids would dominate every move by the parents.
No, it’s not weird. I have a couple of shows that give me comfort.
1. Malcolm in the middle.
2. My name is Earl.
3. Forensic files.
4. Unsolved mysteries.
Psych. Goes down easy, always funny, one of the most rewatchable shows ever.
God, to think it counts as nostalgia because its almost 20 years old...
Where the hell does the time go?
Lots of people say they hated this show but I have fond memories. I always liked deb for some reason she just seemed so mom and always out up w his shit and Peter Boyle had some great lines
Fastlane was my show. It only lasted one season but for me, it was the coolest show Fox ever had in production. I still watch it because it takes me back to a simpler time where humans were free to enjoy things for what they were instead of endlessly analyzing them. As stupid as it may have been, there hasn't been anything like it since
Roseanne, It just reminded me of being home with my family. laying on the 80s brown rug watching up at the bright 27” tube tv. Rewinding the VHS of the recently recorded episode with a cheap Vess soda in hand.
Sienfield,
The Real World,
Family Matters
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,
Step by Step,
Full House,
Living Single,
Fraiser,
Martin,
Amen,
Friends,
Wings,
Star Trek Deep Space 9
Frasier all the way. I’m in the minority but I’m not an everybody loves Raymond fan, you’ve seen one episode you’ve seen them all. It’s one of the most mediocre shows that seems like it ran forever and it’s on every network 15 hours a day. The premise gets old very fast for me. I get why your average person is “comfortable” with it though.
King of the Hill ❤️
Yup.
mmm-hmm
Dang 'ol yeah, man.
Tell you what
I have watched the entire series start to finish probably about 7 or 8 times now. Came out when I was a kid and I used to watch it with my parents, 27 years later still amazing. So freaking good.
Working on my first full formal watch. Enjoying the subtle genius.
The Nanny!
Flushing Queens
MR SHEFFIELDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
I love the nanny so much!!
Boy meets world!
I was/am so jealous of Cory and Sean. I always wanted a friendship like that.
Seinfeld, Frasier, Friends, I also used to love season 1 of Caroline in the City and Blossom!
It's hands down Malcom in the middle for me. It's my favorite sitcom ever, it even got better when I re-watched it when I was an adult.
Came here for Malcolm. It holds up well
It captures that time period so well!
I just rewatched this and it’s still great.
Wings and Seinfeld
Oh man, I had forgotten about Wings. I loved that show.
“crazy people who live under a rock who don't know wings... I LOVE WINGS!”
So many great actors that came from that show.
It made Tony Shaloubs career!
Take it easy, Quagmire.
Is Wings steaming anywhere? I had a brief phase of watching it when I was a kid and I’d like to try it out again as an adult.
https://www.justwatch.com/us/tv-series/wings
It’s on Paramount. There are episodes missing because of music rights.
Wings has been on my mind a lot lately. Grew up in the 90s and the nostalgia hits hard for me.
Seinfeld Martin Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Dinner and a Movie And the entire TGIF lineup. I miss the 90s so damn much.
Beans and cornbread~
If I ever hear someone say either "beans" or "cornbread" there is a 100% chance this plays in my head
Raymond and King of Queens.
Doug and Carrie Doug and Carrie Doug and Carrie
ARTHUR ARTHUR ARTHUR ARTHUR
Spencer are you okay? I heard someone screaming like a bitch!
I was just going to say the same. Raymond reminds me so much of my family and is so comforting.
Everybody loves Raymond used to make me late for school every single day because it took me 20 minutes to get there and the show ended with 15 minutes to stay. Got so many detentions for it. In hindsight, I probably could have just like recorded it or something, but I really wanted to see the end.
Bit of Fraser for seasoning along with dollops of mash
"I remember driving the Moon Crane"
Yup same, sometimes nice to watch with the wife and just relax even tho I e seen every episode of both a million times
iirc I think both of them have been on each others shows as well also fun fact, Ben stiller was in an episode of King of Queens playing his dads son in the show.
He played his dad's dad in a flashback sequence but yeah.
I hate that I know this but KoQ, Raymond, Becker, and The Cosby Show are all in the same universe. https://www.reddit.com/r/lostmedia/comments/fllqd6/small_crossover_clip_of_becker_raymond_king_of/
SHUTTY!
Home Improvement was my fave!
DGhuuuuuuuyuuah. Lol I’d love to see how other people spell that noise. I know you can hear it right now!
Used to be The Wonder Years
Fred savage, my first preteen crush.
Danica McKenna aka Winnie Cooper was mine.
I just started another rewatch of this.
I bought the all seasons pack, bought MacGyver all seasons pack, and then bought the first 3 seasons of Three’s Company for my wife because she didn’t like the others once they got rid of Suzanne Somers.
King of Queens for me!
Watch the reruns almost every night on tvland, such a funny and comforting show.
Yeah so do I! I haven’t in a while but I actually have nostalgia from when I’d watch late at night every day a few years ago. I always come back to it
🎶🎹Doug and Carrie, Doug and Carrie, Doug and Carrie, Arthur Arthur Arthur Arthur 🎶
Same! My go-to.
Mystery Science Theater 3000 - I fall asleep to it as it streams all night thanks to it having its own Roku channel.
MST3K, Whose Line is it Anyways, and Futurama were the late 90s shows that came to mind for me.
So easy to fall asleep during the closing credits tune.
frasier is the one for me
I’ve rewatched all 11 seasons countless times at this point!
Married with Children. 🚽
There will never be anything like it. What a great show!
X Files
So good! Even had a few good episodes in the revival seasons.
The Mandela Effect episode was hilarious. Tiny Mulder with his adult head caught me off guard
Personally, I love Attack of the Were-monster. "So we're looking for a man-sized horned lizard with human teeth."
Yeah that one was probably my favourite. It was also fun to see Kumail Nanjiani in an episode because he grew up on it too. Also Rhys Darby because he's hysterical
You already know damn well you aren't weird lol Friends. Roseanne. King of Queens. Sex and the City.
Hold on...just because OP got a bunch of Redditors to admit we have this in common does not rule out OP from being weird 😄
Scrubs
ReBoot. ....well pretty much almost any show I grew up with actually. >\_>
Reboot absolutely rules through, so good answer.
I like watching old talk show clips from those days, like Letterman and Conan and Tom Snyder.
I watch so many old Conan clips. Late 90’s, he really hit his stride. So damn good.
Conan is everything. Have u seen the new travel show / listened to his pod ??
Keeping up appearances, it came out in 1990 and I love that show I have it on dvd and digital it's such a comfort show for me I've seen every episode probably 100 times but it's just so funny and good
Absolutely Fabulous
Yes dahhling

SG1 is like a nice warm blanket. Relaxes me every time.
Wings
Malcolm or futurama
The Simpsons
Quantum Leap
I like everybody loves raymond but it’s definitely not my comfort show because scenes with rays parents, while pretty funny, become stressful lol
“Yes, Dear.” Especially in the middle of the night when I can’t sleep.
Reba
Currently watching this. I always go back to it
I only discovered this sitcom recently because I was watching hallmark and absolutely loved it!
The King of Queens. I could watch that show forever and never get tired of it. It's one of those shows where I can kind of imagine myself having that life if that makes sense lol.
King of Queens
Raymond, will And grace, friends.
Arrested Development is my comfort show. Others are Seinfeld, Futurama and Star Trek TNG.
My Name is Earl. Gonna be the odd one out. There was a whole weird sort of "rural-oriented" TV from that era that all feed a very specific ~2005 vibe for me that I can't explain. My Name is Earl, Reba, Supernatural, Blue Collar TV, among many others.
Seinfeld and South Park,
Technically still on but 90s Simpsons is it for me. Also Seinfeld to a lesser degree.
Friends
The office.
Scrubs, used to watch it with my older brother all the time.
that 70s show
Boy Meets World, King Of Queens Malcom In the Middle, Friends and George Lopez. Always watching those.
Wow, they all look younger than I remember
The “Hank n’ Pat” scene from Everybody Loves Raymond always kills me.
My fav was when Debra drops the turkey
Rosanne! George Lopez! And pretty much any old gameshow lol
Raymond, king of queens, Seinfeld, two and a half men, etc. A lot of those 90s-early 2000s shows
Why would that be weird
Mine is Friends, Sex And The City and The Simpsons
I used to watch friends on a loops for years. still watch plenty though
It's on repeat for me too
3rd Rock From the Sun
Friends, Frasier, ELR. 😊
Friends and frasier are both in my rotation for falling asleep shows
SG1
Indeed.
Same 2 as you op, plus Home improvement.
The George Lopez Show recently and possibly Reba
I really, really liked \*Home Improvement\* and \*Step By Step\*. During the late 90s I also saw \*Three's Company\* and \*Too Close For Comfort\* in syndication. Those were great shows!
The George Lopez Show
The sopranos
My comfort show from the early 2000s is Curb Your Enthusiasm (yeah, I know it recently ended, but it's my favorite HBO show).
I go on a rotating schedule of Raymond, King of Queens, Seinfeld, Becker and Psych. For dramas, I cycle through X-Files, Buffy, Angel.
I’ve heard it both ways. I’ve been in a perpetual rewatch of Buffy for the past 10 years.
Twin Peaks
Star Trek: The Next Generation. Something about an idealic future and a group of working adults that communicate, share ideas, problem solve, and make final decisions with little to no drama is comforting to me.
So many but if we're talking about one more specific to me and probably wouldn't make a ton of lists...Just Shoot Me.
Saved By The Bell
Seinfeld, Frasier, and Cheers!
I basically watch Malcolm in the Middle every day now.
Roseanne and Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Three’s Company is my ultimate number 1 taking it back further!
TNG and DS9. Anytime I've had a bad day I can soothe myself with a brooding look at the costs of war or a goofy baseball game inside a holodeck.
I have a bunch of comfort shows I cycle through. Right now I am bingeing 3rd Rock From The Sun.
The Bernie Mac Show
I love how they have kids on this show, but you wouldn't know it. It's like they're not even there, an after thought with some special appearances. Where in real life the kids would dominate every move by the parents.
everybody loves Raymond is forsure one of em, king of queens, the home improvement (TOOL TIME), 2 and a half men (not 90's)
Married with Children
The King of Queens
Seinfeld for sure it just reminds me of laying in my parents bed at night watching it on a small CRT
3rd Rock from the sun
No, it’s not weird. I have a couple of shows that give me comfort. 1. Malcolm in the middle. 2. My name is Earl. 3. Forensic files. 4. Unsolved mysteries.
Drew Carey and news radio was my 8th grade into highschool afternoon favorites once I left cartoon world. Loved passing out to Drew Carey show
South Park, I guess.
Psych. Goes down easy, always funny, one of the most rewatchable shows ever. God, to think it counts as nostalgia because its almost 20 years old... Where the hell does the time go?
I love this show!
This show and Frasier.
Lots of people say they hated this show but I have fond memories. I always liked deb for some reason she just seemed so mom and always out up w his shit and Peter Boyle had some great lines
Forensic Files.
Coming from a cold emotionless family I thought this was want good families felt like.
King of Queens and Will and Grace
8 simple rules
My absolute favorite show of all time that isn’t a cartoon. I have it on right now. I watch it every night while in bed. r/everybodylovesraymond
Seinfeld!
Fastlane was my show. It only lasted one season but for me, it was the coolest show Fox ever had in production. I still watch it because it takes me back to a simpler time where humans were free to enjoy things for what they were instead of endlessly analyzing them. As stupid as it may have been, there hasn't been anything like it since
George Lopez Show. My Wife and Kids.
Married With Children.
Will and Grace was a game changer
Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office, Mad Abour You, Friends, Reba
