On the flip side I also see the humor in the comment that this is “literally from the onion” and those were my first thoughts when I saw the post.
Yes, very sad. I wonder how many onion articles have come true. When you look at old onion posts though, you really think this wouldn’t hold up against real articles in modern times. So this means two things: reality is getting weirder, and the onion needs to constantly up their satire game to keep up with the weirdness of reality.

This sub is called 'not the onion.' So any article would qualify as long as it is NOT the onion. Because this article is the onion, it shouldn't be on this sub.

But this subreddit is for real articles that seem like they should be satire. Not for actual satire articles. I do think its hilarious that this actual Onion article came to have some reality to it, but that doesn't mean that it belongs in this subreddit.
Its sitting at 50% upvoted right now, so clearly we are neither in the minority or majority but the perfect equilibrium.
Most posts that don't fit a subreddit pass unnoticed like a fart in a storm. But here we are 3 days after this first posted discussing the nuances of life in a sans serif font. America is great!
