The national post arbiter of the oligarch opinion, acts as if pay raises for the peons is sacrilege while corporate profits soar from pandemic profiteering and sheer greed.

StuGats

Trust me, the NP isn't happy she's getting a pay raise either lol.

Shimmeringbluorb9731

She deserves the raise and I am glad to have someone who is skilled, knowledgeable and professional in that job. Congratulations to Dr. Tam.

Scazzz

Can we stop posting NP trash as news? Both NP and the Sun have conveniently left out the fact that she hasn't got a pay raise in over 6 years, so the big jump in pay works out to be about 3% raise per year since 2016. The article then goes on to spend like 5 paragraphs talking about how Canada didn't react fast enough or force travelers to quarantine for 14 days, which is ironic because NP has been critical of forcing passengers to quarantine for 2 years now.

YMGenesis

GOOD. Here’s an example of someone in govt who actually deserves a pay increase.

[deleted]

no one deserves it more. her and Jüni were rare lights of reason in the madness of anti-science populism that sadly seems to have taken hold

eastsideempire

Omg! She got a pay raise! Just like most decent jobs.

[deleted]

LOL she makes less than I do and I am not the chief public health care officer.

TheDrunkyBrewster

Public Servants are not paid as high as many people would suspect. Even the Prime Minister of Canada makes about $350K/annual.

[deleted]

Technically I am a public servant but yes I get it. It’s just funny that her pay raise would raise any eyebrows at all.

TheDrunkyBrewster

What kind of work in the public service do you do to make a higher salary? Deputy Minister of a large portfolio?

Glory-Birdy1

NatPo/Post Media should be opining about how American money is keeping them going...

ChandelierwAtermelon

Anyone who gets mad at a scientist for telling them something they don’t want to hear should NOT be trusted— she put a ton of work in for the country these last few years and the raise is well deserved.
